Mine is the episode where it's the Lunar eclipse and Alison and Mike have the neighbours round for dinner, it's total comedy genius. Everyone talking around the dinner table while the ghosts dance round it chanting about the 'wondrous moon' Grin Mary: 'stew update, all the water has turned to clouds' and when the ghosts are watching Friends and Kitty declares 'I'm Phoebe, Lady Button is Monica and the Captain is Ross'

WHAT?!! Pat is Gerard from Peep Show?! Seriously?!

He was also a creepy pedophile in Broadchurch which was doubly wrong because he was so convincingly nasty and evil and yet also that guy off Horrid Histories.

@MeinKraft I've just clocked your username. It's one of the Motherland things that still makes me laugh whenever I think about it.

Autumnnewname · 11/02/2023 13:20

It's hard to pick a bad one

I love the Thomas Thorne Affair with all the different perspectives of Thomas death. Some poem about wine and women and stuff.

And the Bone Plot, Humphrey's story, because it was so touching, so ludicrous and because lovely Larry took centre stage without his fuzz and furs

Autumnnewname · 11/02/2023 13:23

The podcast is so funny - my fave was the one with Martha and Larry.

All the cast clearly love each other and that translates so well onto screen

Filming series 5 just now. I can't wait to see it

I take it we are all a bit in love with the Captain yes? Blush

Obviously 😄

WashAsDelicates · 11/02/2023 14:55

The Christmas episode when they don't make it to his family and end up eating Christmas dinner ("It's just a couple of sides!") in the traffic jam, and when they get back home the ghosts have prepared a panto for Alison to watch. Such a cosy, uncomplicated and all-round happy episode.

Sorry, no.

Robin, though...

You meant Robin, didn't you?

Poor suppressed gay Captain.

HiccupHorrendousHaddock · 11/02/2023 15:04

Thomas's death episode was a highlight, and Humphrey's which I did BNOT see coming. The Christmas one had me in bits.

nilsmousehammer · 11/02/2023 15:04

It's a close tie between the woodworm men and redding weddy, but it's a tough call! Anything with the little plague girl singing ring a roses (apparently it's quite creepy) 😂 sweet, sweet Mary (getoutgetoutgetoutgetout... oh well, it was worth a go) and the Captain are particularly good, but it's just so well done with such a great cast. The actress who plays Lady Button is genius, having played the lovely Mum in Yonderland she turns into a totally different person just by the angle and tension of her face.

Im home alone today and I am going to watch it again it was just lovely

Dropzonefourpleaseben · 11/02/2023 15:54

It's so hard to choose a favourite episode, but the burglary one has to be up there, especially the bit where Mary and Kitty are trying to remember what has been loaded into the van - 'Godrick's dog, cups and a rainbow'. Also, the episode when the ghosts work out what Alison's 'sister' is up to after Fanny binge watched Murder She Wrote. Julian's 'Showaddywaddy!' when he tries to move something, Pat's dancing and the ghosts singing In the Bleak Midwinter round the piano. And The Captain.

The one where Mike asks how many burglars are in the house and Julian writes 20 in the steam on the mirror because he was trying to write ‘2 of them” and Mike freaks out and decides he’s best hiding from them rather than trying to take them on 🤣

And Mary…

when I pass through livings they smell burnings….

And the Captain’s reply, “None of those are plural” is when I fell in love with Cap.

MuseThrower · 11/02/2023 17:07

I love Robin’s attempt at writing erotica…

”mwah, mwah…and then they do it…”

<waggles eyebrows>

Mrsjayy · 11/02/2023 17:09

Aww I watched the Christmas episode had a little cry 😢 I might start from the series 1 .

MuseThrower · 11/02/2023 17:10

I liked it when Fanny was shagging Humphrey’s headless body, and his head gave a little shudder and he said, ‘What is that? It keeps happening.”

Should be a gross idea (dead woman shags decapitated corpse) but somehow they manage to make it charming. How?!?

I watched this episode, and I must have blocked that bit out 😄.

Hello...

Hello to you.
(Said in the same tone the Captain uses when he first sees the tanks on the tv.)

HippyChickMama · 11/02/2023 17:50

I love the Christmas episode with the panto.
Robin: 'the prince will kiss us and touch my bum'
Other ghosts: 'no Robin!'
Robin: 'he might touch my bum'
Also, Thomas listening to The Smiths and crying

Jim Howick (Pat) is also in Here We Go and plays an ex Olympic archer which makes me laugh given Pat's unfortunate demise

Decafflatteplease · 11/02/2023 17:56

God I love ghosts! Had some I'll health a few months back and binge watched the lot and loved it we can't wait for the next series!

DH and I often quote bits from ghosts to each other.

Moonah! Whenever there's a full moon

" I always smell burnings I do" ala mary whenever something has burnt

"Get out get out get out" Mary again whenever we have workmen in

I didn't realise until DH told me quite a while in that the plague people are the same cast....blew my mind!!

Mary was my favourite, pat's adorable "dip it again 😂". Julian's really funny. DH loves kitty and the older woman but I don't like them. Wouldn't kick the captain about of bed though 😉

The one where Pat’s family visit. Makes me cry every time.

Me too. Just love ‘Ghosts’!
