I loved how when she called out hello he was like "hiya!" 🤣

There were a million and one things they could have done, but instead there were no twists, no turns, no jaw on floor moments the series is known for, no shocks, no surprises, just the most vanilla, nondescript, 'meh' ending possible.

Totally underwhelming.

Brilliant. Enjoyed every minute of it.

I am stunned, absolutely fucking brilliant. We got a happy ending without it being corny.

Catherine looking through the photo albums was an absolutely genius touch for the finale. I’ve been thinking I want a face to put to the name of ‘Becky’ other than just her hanging. Wonderful way to humanise Becky and get you questioning yourself for investing in the character of TLR (even if it’s to see him caught) because really, it’s all about her and how he took her life from her. The pictures of baby Ryan are devastating and bittersweet. The thought of Catherine taking those newborn pictures of Ryan knowing what she was going through at the time, she really did try her best and it paid off.

Then realising that Tommy isn’t even a psychopath…he’s just incredibly thick and stunted with a twisted little mind. Death is a freedom for him. I believe TLR did genuinely love Ryan.

SL is brilliant. The way she’s wearing a light coloured top was striking because it reflects her relief, and SL manages to ‘turn off’ the haunted look that Catherine has had throughout the series.

I’m speechless, couldn’t have asked for a better ending.

I thought that was a massive disappointment.
The pharmacy murderer thread went nowhere!
And the showdown between her and TLR was also a damp squib.

I think that was a pretty perfect finale! Exhilarating showdown between TLR and Catherine, a hopeful future for Ryan. Hepworth, Jo, Faisal and Alison storylines tied up in the background so as not to distract from main storyline. Sally Wainwright is a genius and the acting from Sarah Lancashire and James Norton was outstanding.

There would have been at least one police car near Catherine's house with TLR on the run, especially as they knew he had been in contact with Ryan and was still in the area. Instead he broke in the front of the house in broad daylight.

He'd have gone up in a ball of flames as soon as he lit the match due to the petrol fumes.

He didn't once ask her where Ryan was even though he knew he was dying.

The police drove at 5mph once they knew Catherine had him at her house.

I thought the idea that he felt all along that he had genuinely something to forgive her for so much more real than just a massive shoot out at the end.

The Becky pictures and pictures of Ryan had me bawling as if they are my own family members, shows what a great show it is.

I think some posters have missed quite a bit if if wasn't blatantly obvious to them what was happening.

It didn't need a big bang to end it. It was bigger than that.

Absolutely brilliant. I don't know how anyone could say it was underwhelming. It focused on all the right things. Didn't put Ryan in danger and nobody had to kill TLR. All of Tommy's shit life was highlighted when he was in the house and could see what a nice life Ryan had had.

To me the whole series wasn't about the crimes as much as the grief of losing Becky and fierce protectiveness of Catherine over Ryan. I could feel her rage.

This is really picky, but the show is so realistic in many ways that this small thing did irritate me… the Becky photo album. Should have had a lot more photos. I get that it was symbolically half empty for her life cut short, but it was a totally unrealistic album cutting from age to age too quickly.

@Tigresswoods I thought he'd have been added to underline that the family were now free of the tyranny TLR had imposed upon their lives. The secret was out, he was recaptured. It could've been symbolic.

I thought it was great that people predicted Catherine forgiving TLR but it was him forgiving her. Really don't think I have watched such a tense hour of TV ever.

Also I noticed that cc and Ryan are both left handed and that made me think that she really IS his granny.

I'm so sad that that handsome chops TLR is dead. I wouldve visited him when he was comatose and we could have re enacted coma guy episode from friends. Teams played sports.
