That moment in the van when TLR says he's never been abroad, and Darius' disbelief and laughter was some brilliant acting from JN. He switched in a moment from wide-eyed, almost childlike wonder at the thought of going abroad to the darkness descending when he thought Darius was laughing at him. I actually thought he might fuck it up for himself by lunging at Darius in that moment. In fact, you could sort of see that play out on his face: I want to lamp this prick for laughing at me, but I need him to get me out of this situation. Those kinds of characters HATE being laughed at.

Yes I actually said "oh god don't laugh at him!" I thought there was a chance TLR would slit his neck with the whisky bottle

XanaduKira · 30/01/2023 12:44

And TLR beating Catherine in series 1 - that was horrendous. We've clearly been shown how violent TLR can be as well as it also being alluded to with Becky.

foxlover47 · 30/01/2023 12:48

I honestly thought Tommy was going to bash Darius when he laughed ! The way JN can change from almost childlike niceness/ excitement to cold eyes and menacing is what makes him TLR for me.
The writing is sublime , look how she's shown us his vulnerability so we actually , all decent people are feeling empathy towards him even though we know all what he's done and is capable of! We've even had people questioning if neckbeard was the abused one and feeling sorry for murderer Pfizer ( I know it's Faisal but keeping in with the nickname here )
Catherine has nobody , not one single person has her back , she can't go to anyone to take the strain off for her .. she's carried everyone since Becky died and I think she's st the point of f**k it all.
Darius helping Tommy is confusing me , Tommy is a liability and I think Darius is more than aware of that but the shitty safe house , no phone and telling Tommy not to contact him is all a bit wierd.
As for gaming , this is how weirdos groom children aswell , I hope more people are now aware how easy it is to talk to anyone online through any Wi-Fi access

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 30/01/2023 12:37

I think the most disturbingly violent scene in all the three series was when CID guy John (Molesley) strangled Vicky in her flat. TLR's violence has mostly been referred to rather than witnessed by the viewer. Alison making sure her son would never kill again (or be forced to go to prison) was also pretty heavy.

Nonsense - you've just forgotten TLR's violence.

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 30/01/2023 12:49

Well I still think the strangulation scene was the most disturbing.

foxlover47 · 30/01/2023 12:51

I think for me it was Kirsten's death , the way he kept reversing etc to drive over her

UrsulaPandress · 30/01/2023 12:51

The bumping 😱

foxlover47 · 30/01/2023 12:52

It was horrific and the bleeping of her radio

CrossPurposes · 30/01/2023 12:52

I don't think I'll ever forget Royce three point turning over Kirsten's body. He is repulsive and I could barely watch that final scene with Ryan.

HannaHat · 30/01/2023 12:57

Kristen's death was just awful, how Catherine pulled up and saw the flashing blue lights and Kristen just lying there 😭

Rhondaa · 30/01/2023 13:00

'I can't decide whether Darius sprung TLR out of jail with the genuine intention of getting him out of the country but won't risk him being recaptured so will kill him if he thinks that's likely, or if he always intended to kill him'

Yes and by the pantomime villain hard stare on Darius' face as Royce left the vehicle you do get the feeling that a villa in Marbs has never been on the cards.

I feel sorry for him which is mad as he's a murderous rapist. Norton's acting in this really is brilliant.

Perhaps they'll have some kind of liaison officer and protection at Nev's by next week.

bluelavender · 30/01/2023 13:01

I have forgotten what happened in Season 2! How did TLR's mum die; was she murdered by the serial killer?

JaneJeffer · 30/01/2023 13:01

if she was a bloke we'd all be saying whadda great guy
I wouldn't. Yes she's good at her job but she's so cold to her family.

WinterDeWinter · 30/01/2023 13:01

I googled Ryan and Tommy to see if they really did look similar and this came up - really touching:

Yes, murdered by the serial killer from the farm

HannaHat · 30/01/2023 13:02

Yes TLR's mum was murdered by Alison's son.

bluelavender · 30/01/2023 13:03

'I can't decide whether Darius sprung TLR out of jail with the genuine intention of getting him out of the country but won't risk him being recaptured so will kill him if he thinks that's likely, or if he always intended to kill him'

I think Darius would shoot TLR himself rather than risk TLR trying to murder a police officer; and risk being caught; spilling the beans on Darius's involvement in the prison break and reservoir murder

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 30/01/2023 13:06

Darius is too ambitious to let a disposable psycho get in the way of his plans.

picnicshnicnic · 30/01/2023 13:10

Janieread · 30/01/2023 11:23

I don't mind if Catherine dies now as she was so horrible to Claire. I thought it wasn't such a good episode tbh.

I thought it was completely deserved.

I've got no time for Claire.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 30/01/2023 13:11

Mind if I join in? I knew there'd be a thread on this 😊

Anyone else catch TLR saying TELEPHOME to borscht man?

Can't wait for next week's episode!

If I found out my sister did that is never speak to her again I'd be so angry. It was deserved!

CaptainMyCaptain · 30/01/2023 13:15

Apologies for the Pfizer/Faisal pedantry I didn't realise it was an established nickname. Good one!

Even if Claire genuinely felt that Ryan should be allowed contact with TLR; it was never her call to make. The most she should have done is try to share Ryans POV with Catherine; and suggest perhaps that a social worker takes Ryan

Agreed. I would never speak to her again.
