I'm unclear what the benefit is/was to Darius of going to the risk/trouble of springing him out of court in the first place.

As long as he was on prison, @duc748 , he was a threat to the Knesevics. Although "grassing" on them wouldn't have got him a sentence reduction (his crimes were too serious) they could have got him privileges. he wouldn't otherwise have been entitled to . . . and of course, he used that power to force the K's to get him out.

Finale prediction:
Becky’s headstone doesn’t mention ‘mother to Ryan’. Whenever they went to the grave Ryan was playing football nearby and has not been near the actual grave.

I assume that it will be added in the final moments of the last show.

Do you think? Would it be right to do that? She didn't want to be mother to Ryan. Albeit she didn't get the help that could have seen her overcome that.

Anyone think that murdering Joanna gave Faisal a bit of an ego boost - when he deals with Joannas wanker husband (forgot his name) after the rear end shunt, he seems to have grown a pair of bollocks previously totally absent!

I wonder what his plan was... he can't have thought there was any chance of getting her body out of that garage, so he had to think Jo's twat husband would find it and likely be implicated in her murder... has he done anything to set him up?

I can totally understand Catherines reaction to Claire and what she's said to her, shes put up with SO much, shes got so fucking much going on, all the time, carrying everyone, the only one with a brain cell between her ears 90% of the time... and then she finds out Claire has betrayed her and done something so monumentally fucking stupid... I think I'd have punched her, not just said something nasty!

Yes he’s a smug twat, wouldn’t surprise me if he gets cocky and decides to off Tweedledum and Tweedledee

Ohwhatarelief · 30/01/2023 15:18

She was horrible but in her shoes I’d be the same. Her description of Claire was spot on, and it’s testament to Siobhan Finneran’s acting that she comes across as an empty vessel. Claire truly is a stupid woman

Oh I really like Claire. She's done amazingly well kicking the drugs and booze and seems really gentle and sweet.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 30/01/2023 15:28

They do have gyms in prisons. So TLR has probably been working out on the exercise bike recently.

CaptainMyCaptain · 30/01/2023 15:28

I'm also wondering about the wedding that has been mentioned at least once in every episode. Something big has got to happen there.

Janieread · 30/01/2023 15:28

I thought the knesevichs didn't like TLR. I am sure there was something in the first season about that - the campsite owner alluded to it.

It was horrific and the bleeping of her radio

That radio was chilling, wasn't it?

Poor little Kirsten - it was a brutal death.

I suppose you have to go one of those private prisons, and pay extra for that... 😜

FlyRobinFly · 30/01/2023 15:31

Kirsten’s death was horrid. I remember I was watching with my mum who had previously been gripped, she made me turn it off after that and refused to have it on again.

Claire has probably shown Ryan more affection than anyone else which is in her favour but I would react like Catherine if my sister did that - my sister did actually do something a fraction as bad as that and I was angry beyond belief.

Yeah a real shocker! Had to close my eyes.

There are no gyms that can prepare you for the hills round Calderdale, there's a reason the Tour de France came here in 2014!

Also, sidenote, no self respecting MAMIL would lay their bike down on its right hand side, knackers your gears 😂

Thank you for this, lovely story :)

A sad little coincidence that Rhys Connor is estranged from his own dad.

I like Claire, too.

I mean, if she did that to me I could never forgive her, but I do think she is kind and gentle and so lacking in self-esteem that she tries to please everyone, poor woman.

CuriousMama · 30/01/2023 11:27

Yes Alison must be involved surely? Unless she was just brought in so CC could borrow the car?

A is there as part of a major theme of HV through the series, who among us could become a killer and why. What is free will? There's a long spectrum of killers, TLS at one end, Alison at the other, and Becky, who killed herself. Catherine; who wanted to kill TL, had motive and opportunity, didn't.

We can understand or even forgive Alison, Becky, because we know their story. The full story of what makes a psychopath like Tommy, is barely sketched in.

I thought this weeks portrayal of TL was an utter masterpiece. You see him as superb physical specimen cresting the hill ; leaps off the bike; embraces the land like a king. In that moment he has literally escaped his past and is free, the world at his feet. . For the briefest moment fate hangs in the balance... then it's all downhill. He's back in a tiny room, losing it, disintegrating. He says to Ryan " I love you, you're all I've got".. and we know he has nothing at all. He's already lost Ryan. Its written all over Ryan's face.

The K's could have offed him inside surely? And if not and they want him dead then why bother to do more than lose him and his bike in that big lake. No, he has a use to them alive (for now).

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 30/01/2023 15:46

I didn’t fancy JN in the lycra gear (he’ll be devastated to hear). I prefer his badly bleached hair and donkey jacket look from series 1.

True...as I teach the kids I coach, if you must lie your bike on the ground then it has to be "sunny side up" ie the "sun" (aka chainring/s!) facing the sky.
It's obviously further evidence that TLR is a cyclopath...
(Sorry, I'll get my coat.)

Southeastdweller · 30/01/2023 15:48

Catherine is a complete bitch sometimes, a boring martyr too. At what point do you stop carrying people (with the exception of her grandson) and focus on your own self care and needs? She reminds me of a relative of mine - incapable of looking at her own role in how she and her loved ones are feeling. Too busy blaming other people because it’s ALWAYS other people’s fault.

I think perhaps they tried and that's how TLR ended up with that rather interesting scar on his forehead.

the80sweregreat · 30/01/2023 15:49

I guess that TLR doesn't give a toss about the mountain bike tbh or the van gears ! Lol
Both are probably nicked anyway
JN was definitely harder in series one ..
not sure what's changed , but a few scenes with beetroot man was much scarier than his been thus far !!

I luffs a pun, me!

Ratched · 30/01/2023 15:50

The thing that has stuck with me since the episode is the exchange between TLR and Ryan.
TLR was touchingly keen for Ryan to admire his escape, to be in awe of his escape, to be incredulous about living in Marbella.
Ryan really wasn't.
TLR has never matured. he is still that annoying 13 year old shouting 'Watch me, watch me'.
Quite sad really. I think if Ryan does meet up with him, TLR will very quickly lose his rag at not having an awe struck son tagging along.
My prediction is that Catherine and TLR die in the tussle for Ryan.

AND I AM ON BLOODY HOLIDAY NEXT WEEK, SO WONT FIND OUT
