Father Brown Series 10 - No Mrs McCarthy?!!

Bit gutted as she was hilarious. Who will make the award winning strawberry scones now? The police inspector has also gone (Inspector Sullivan has returned instead) and Bunty is away travelling and won't be back. One of the wayward girls is going to play a big part instead and the new parish secretary loves crime mysteries.

It all feel different. I'm waiting for Flambeau.

Only being shown on Fridays but the whole series is on iPlayer.

Noooo.😱 I loved Mrs. Mc.

ginislife · 08/01/2023 21:12

I've been watching them today back to back and wondered where she'd gone. Tom Chambers is rather gorgeous 😁

AuntieDolly · 08/01/2023 21:25

Me too. Never thought I'd be binge watching this 😁

mogtheexcellent · 09/01/2023 12:53

Im too busy atm to binge watch so Death in Paradise and Father Brown will be watched when on the telly. Will make a nice change I think.

I see Lady Felicia makes an appearance later in the series, which will be nice.

Lady Felicia is wonderful! I aspire to be Nancy Carroll <sigh>

BusterGroove · 10/01/2023 00:21

I miss Mrs M and Bunty. Will Sid be in it? It feels almost like a new show with so many characters missing!

Raahh · 10/01/2023 13:20

I promised myself I wouldn't binge Blush but I'm already on episode 6 Grin.

I watched the first one on Friday, and it did feel a bit wrong with so many regulars missing, but by the end of the second episode, I had got to like the 'new' cast, and I'm quite familiar with them now, they have settled very well.
I do miss Mrs M- both Sid and Lady F were missing for large parts of previous series anyway , and Bunty was not in the earlier ones, so I suppose I have just got used to the change.

It's nice to have Tom Chambers back, but I miss grumpy Inspector Mallory a bit. Grin

(I watch the repeats a lot Grin).

Not loving either of Father Brown's new sidekicks. Hoping they grow on me!

She was good in the French thingy with him from Endeavour. Very watchable.

Especially when 'Flambeau' appeared in one episode - I was very confused!

AutisticLegoLover · 10/01/2023 21:47

Murder in Provence. That was grand wasn't it. Nancy Carroll and the lovely Roger Allam. It was funny too.

Flambeau is rather sexy I think.

Will there be another series of Grantchester? I loved that too. Crime dramas, even the silly and fun ones, are my favourite shows. Dc think I'm a little weird to watch so many murders.

mogtheexcellent · 11/01/2023 10:19

I checked IMDB and no Sid either. Glad Sullivan is back, although I liked the comedy of inspector mallory.

Not enjoying this series with too many characters missing, I loved when Inspector Mallory used to say "Padre".
Lady Felicia seemed to have had a personality transplant. She was always a bit snooty but in the second episode she was downright nasty.
I think this may be the last series.

Me neither. My heart sank a bit when I realised the Brenda Palmer character was going to feature, as I couldn't bear her stilted acting in the wayward girls episode.

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/01/2023 22:21

Only seen e1 as blondes doesn’t binge

but weird with new characters

not the same

but will watch weekly and see how it goes for easy watching

MrsMcCarthysfamousScones · 13/01/2023 15:27

I booked a holiday a few years ago to visit Father Brown’s church I’m such a fan.

Not quite sure what to make of the new sidekick, I will have to see how things develop.

Ellmau · 13/01/2023 22:36

Still not massively keen on Mrs Devine, but I did like how Lady F was suspicious of her today.

I feel Inspector Sullivan has regressed from where he was when he guested last season.

CavalierApproach · 15/01/2023 19:23

I didn't think Lady F was being nasty in episode 2. I thought she was just reacting to an unwelcome change (like us!) and feeling defensive on behalf of how things used to be - because Mrs M was her friend, and Mrs Devine seemed a bit flaky.

Back in the early series Lady F and Mrs M used to snipe at each other and wind each other up all the time, before they both acknowledged that actually they really liked one another.

This

and yes I wasn’t sure of her

much prefer the younger girl to be the housekeeper

whereeverilaymycat · 24/01/2023 17:57

I've watched the whole series now and I still really love it. I do miss the regular characters, but as the series has gone on I've warmed to the new ones.

Trying not to spoil it, I do wonder how the ending will play out for one of the characters that thought they had an opportunity and now don't....

There does seem to be a prospect of romance though so that's a bonus.

mogtheexcellent · 25/01/2023 14:26

I gave in and watched the lot and cant remember the final storyline so it was obviously memorable! I do feel sorry for Goodfellow though.

I'm still watching weekly - gives me something to do

BusterGroove · 26/01/2023 08:15

This isn’t Father Brown related (sorry!), but does anyone know if Shakespeare and Hathaway is coming back?

LemonJuiceFromConcentrate · 26/01/2023 08:28

Not sure but I think the past couple of new series of that have appeared in springtime @BusterGroove, so maybe March/April?

mogtheexcellent · 26/01/2023 14:01

Not sure there will be another series of shakespeare and hathaway. It hadnt been commisioned as of oct 22 but theres been no official word either way. Both the leads have done other roles recently and the writer has been developing a series similar in vibe but aboard a cruise ship for ch5.

Bbc need to find another show to plug the gap if so.
