Bit gutted as she was hilarious. Who will make the award winning strawberry scones now? The police inspector has also gone (Inspector Sullivan has returned instead) and Bunty is away travelling and won't be back. One of the wayward girls is going to play a big part instead and the new parish secretary loves crime mysteries.

It all feel different. I'm waiting for Flambeau.

Only being shown on Fridays but the whole series is on iPlayer.

Agree about Brenda. As a replacement for Mrs McCarthy she's an abomination. Ridiculous character (and actress, tbh).

The attempt by Mrs Devine to dress up as Father Brown was utterly ridiculous.

I was a Father Brown devotee and was really looking forward to the new series. For me, sadly it's become unwatchable without Mrs M, Lady F and Bunty, and with Brenda and Mrs Devine.

I've just seen that Emer Kenny (Bunty) has had a baby boy- which explains the absence from the last series. Even by 'bad girl' Bunty standards, having her pregnant would have been a bit of stretch (unless she had been married in the 'off season'). Congratulations to Emer and Rick.

I’d be keen to see what kind of tiny outfits a hypothetical Bunty Jr would wear in the programme.

The Madame Blanc Mysteries is another easy series to watch. Channel 5 I think and beautiful scenery😊

I had no idea Emer Kenny used to be in EastEnders. I did spot her in Karen Pirie last year and understand she also had a hand in writing the screenplay.

I've been revisiting Silent Witness from the Sam Ryan days and spotted Mrs M in prison!

Isn’t it just?
I was thrilled when she got on the train. So, so disappointed when she left off. This series is just awful.

At the start of the year, I started watching the latest Death in Paradise series (never watched it before) - so I started watching the whole thing from the start.
I am now up to Series 11- and 'Brenda' has just turned up in an episode . (She's just as bad in this, really, as she has been in Father Brown).

I binged the whole of the latest Father Brown series when it started. It was ok but I've already forgotten lots of what went on- and it was only a few weeks ago .

By contrast, I watched 2/3 old episodes last weekend, and remembered everything about them as soon as they started (and they were from early series).
This is not likely to be a series that will stand up to repeat viewing, which is sad, as FB is one of my 'comfort shows' - easy watching when there isn't much else on.

My brain went from "but he's a bad 'un" to "yippee" to "dammit" very quickly. There was a second when it looked like she might die horribly from jumping off a moving train but unfortunately not.
