Bit gutted as she was hilarious. Who will make the award winning strawberry scones now? The police inspector has also gone (Inspector Sullivan has returned instead) and Bunty is away travelling and won't be back. One of the wayward girls is going to play a big part instead and the new parish secretary loves crime mysteries.

It all feel different. I'm waiting for Flambeau.

Only being shown on Fridays but the whole series is on iPlayer.

It was an exact copy of a previous episode involving some religious relic with Flambeau coming to the rescue- how do they get away with this nonsense?

Mind you "Flumpo" as DH calls him is preferable to dopey Brenda and simpering Isobel with her beak which she can't keep out despite being given the day off

@woodhill I think Mrs Devine is even more annoying than Brenda - and that's saying something! She's so prissy - can't imagine the inspector fancying her.

I cringe every time she goes anywhere near the Inspector. I think they were better off at the will they/won't they.

They have no chemistry. 🤮🤮🤮 She’s more like some officious nurse than his lover. And he’s become so incompetent around her, he’s awful to watch. He spent most of his time in that ridiculous E3 tending her fainting couch instead of running a murder investigation—which almost got Father Brown and everyone else killed. I really think the writers and the BBC are deliberately trashing the show. No way these many unforced errors are real mistakes…🤬

The main writer died last year, I think.

😢 She had already left FB to do Sister Boniface. But the new showrunner wasn't up to the task of rebooting this show, to say the least.

Oh no so we still have to endure her in a different series of daytime tv 😀

I like a cosy daytime programme and thought I'd try Sister Boniface but one episode was enough 😁

We were looking forward to Sister Boniface as she was great in the original FB episode but we found it unwatchable ( like FB is now ) .

The rest is pretty weak

Yeah, SB has problems. The mysteries are solid, often good. But the lead is annoying (a little perky goes a long long way 🙄). And the supporting characters are surprisingly bland--it's like they are more outlines than people.

I've just watched the first ep of this series Sullivan's father said he won't give permission for the wedding if Mrs Devine doesn't stop working for FB.

Surely he doesn't need permission?

Or is it a way of saying he'll cut him off?

As if a grown man needs his father's permission 🙄

This is such fake ginned-up drama, to say the least. 🙄 Sullivan's a war vet, ex-Special Branch, and a decorated cop. And it's not like Dad Sullivan cutting him off will wreck his career any more than it is--or make him a society outcast or something Victorian like that. As well, if Dad Sullivan is rich, why did he need Sullivan's financial help a couple of seasons ago? Isn't Sullivan making decent bank on his own?

I don't really know why I'm watching any more.

I'm not keen on the new characters, don't really care if Sullivan & Mrs Devine marry or not & the mysteries aren't even that interesting!

We've made it through 8 episodes so may as well finish it although it's dire.
