Where is the father of the baby? Not sure if I've missed something

On a ship.

They mentioned something about a ship to shore telegram with the flowers.

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 15/01/2023 20:39

Is he away at sea?

IconicKitty · 15/01/2023 20:39

Ok that makes sense - thanks

doctorsnoddy · 15/01/2023 20:40

Hello Raahh looks like we enjoy a medical drama!

jay55 · 15/01/2023 20:40

Agree about the rape.
It wouldn't have been talked about in those terms.

Raahh · 15/01/2023 20:42

doctors I think describing some of the medical dramas we watch as 'medical' is probably a bit tenuous Grin.

LIZS · 15/01/2023 20:43

Gazpacho in 1968?

IconicKitty · 15/01/2023 20:44

Trixie has become such a boring character now. She used to be great.

Raahh · 15/01/2023 20:44

I feel like Trixie is going to poison every one Grin

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 15/01/2023 20:47

@Raahh I recognise your name, are you from the daytime Doctors thread? I used to post on that 10 years ago when I was on maternity leave 😆

Sorry for derail!

I am - and for my sins, I am still watching Grin

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 15/01/2023 20:50

Brilliant! 😃😃

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 15/01/2023 20:52

Things were shocking for women back then 😮

ShakeYourFeathers · 15/01/2023 20:54

I agree the attitudes to rape in this show are rather modern

I'd be annoyed if I was Trixie I spend hours in the kitchen slaving away and then a dinner party guest whips up the perfect eggs Benedict

Raahh · 15/01/2023 20:54

I love Nurse Crane.

crisscrosscringle · 15/01/2023 20:55

This explains so much about my grandparents attitude to marriage Confused

crisscrosscringle · 15/01/2023 20:55

According to Google £100 is about £2,500k in today's money

crisscrosscringle · 15/01/2023 20:57

Raahh · 15/01/2023 20:54

I love Nurse Crane.

Nurse Crane reminds me of my aunt. Firm, fair and so incredibly kind even though her face looked stern!

jay55 · 15/01/2023 21:00

Love nurse Crane too.

Can't believe Trixie is trying to turn herself domestic, surely she would have insisted on a housekeeper.

Surely Mr Hayward would already have a housekeeper. When he first arrived I'm sure he had loads of staff

jay55 · 15/01/2023 21:07

I'm sure you're right. Housekeeper, nanny etc.

They've done a lot of making competent women look stupid this season, I'm grumpy about it.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 15/01/2023 21:11

A nun would have known that rape inside marriage didn't exist in the 1960s?! Well obviously it did exist but wasn't a criminal offence.

In reality that woman would have had two choices, go back to the abusive husband (and hope he doesn't kill her) or give her children up and live in poverty.

The modern day take on it sugar coats the reality sadly, depressingly for lots of women not much has changed.

Matthew would be better to invest in a cook unless he wants to starve 🤣

PinkFrogss · 15/01/2023 21:43

As much as I want Trixie to be happy I think it would be interesting if Matthew turned out to be an abusive husband, which forces her to turn back to alcohol. And then no one believes her because she’s an addict and he’s made a full time job out of standing round poplar buying things for everyone
