Looks like Love Island producers have announced that participants' social media will be locked whilst the programme airs. (Looking for reliable source, so far I can only find tabloid stories).
I hope it's true, I think it's needed.

I don't mind Olivia, but I'm amazed she can't see Tom is just feeling awkward and trying to let her down gently. Unless more has happened that we haven't seen. Zara doesn't seem like his type at all - but that's just an assumption as he doesn't exactly ooze personality imo.

I’d say more has definitely happened. She wouldn’t say she wants to physically touch him unless that was the case. It’s being edited to make it seem otherwise/create drama.

steelseries · 26/01/2023 10:16

I agree. I think there's also probably a lot of "normal" interaction between Zara and Olivia which the producers don't show us because the show works better if we all think they hate each other. There was a moment after the group had said bye to the two leavers when Zara reached out to Olivia as she was walking past which made me think that.

I wondered if she said that to "open the door" for him to make a move. He just seems to squirm a bit though, talk some more about doors, then make a hasty exit through one 🤔

I agree, I can really see this.

Aggressive is a very strong word that is sometimes thrown about a bit too lightly. Zara may be called argumentative, jealous, assertive, fiery etc, but it is unfair to call her aggressive seeing as she hasn't physically come close to getting into anyone's face.

But the definition of aggression isn't merely physical. You can have an aggressive manner. She has, IMHO, been verbally aggressive. For one, on the outside beds in her white boots- the way she went for Olivia was like an aggressive dog, she bit her head off, then as Ron was saying 'But we've got to live together' she bit his head off too. Also when she asked Olivia what her conversation was with Tom, she was verbally aggressive when Olivia wouldn't give an answer.

She thinks she's the top dollar, real-deal, which is fine (good for her for the confidence) but you don't need to rubbish others in the meantime.

Agree with PP who says her voice changes to the real her when she's annoyed. Fake, fake, fake.

This. I think the contestants might as well talk openly about strategic moves and stop pretending they are there to 'find love'. We all know its completely staged by the producers and the contestants are trying to stay in as long as possible. They don't care what happens in there as long as they stay and don't spoil their chances of making deals with brands when they leave.

The newbies are good looking. Finally.

When they are 'partying', I almost feel sorry for them and the lengths they are prepared to go to act like they are dancing to music and drinking alcohol.

I don't believe one genuine person would enter the show at this stage, its just an interview to be an 'Ista hun'.

Jessie and Aaron came all the way from Australia to find Luuurve and not to make some money on the back of their LI Australia stint….
I find it strange when the contestants talk about others supposedly ‘game playing’. When the truth is that all the contestants are gameplayers. In fact, it would unwise to enter the villa without some type of plan.

Yeah... I feel like you got her vibe all day long bruv, I'm not gonna lie

TellingBone · 26/01/2023 12:30

😂

Olivia missed a golden opportunity there. I'd have said, deadpan, 'Did you just call me...bruv?'

TellingBone · 26/01/2023 12:48

And just to add - it crossed my mind that Zara might not realise that bruv is short for brother. A bit like Phoebe in Friends when she thinks that 'Pheebs' is 'just something we say' rather than short for her own name. 😆

Puffalicious · 26/01/2023 12:59

Yeah... I feel like you got her vibe all day long bruv, I'm not gonna lie😅

My DS18, DS16, DN21 and the 100s of kids I see everyday at work don't ever speak like this (maybe the odd 'bro') It's mental. Clearly they're given stock phrases to use over and over. This year 'vibe/vibing' is the focus, to be mixed with copious 'I'm not gonna lie' s and 'grafting'.

I feel that lots of the LI parlance came originally from Kem and Chris, and was then adopted as actual LI dialect.

This would have been immense.

HandbagsnGladrags · 26/01/2023 13:01

I think Zara is aggressive as well. She's awful. Thinks a lot of herself. Bet she has no friends in real life.

MotherofKitties · 26/01/2023 13:05

First look is up alert!

I think Ellie will go for Ron or Tom and the new guy will go for Olivia or Zara

You can think a lot of yourself (go sista) but not be nasty with it. This is what makes her awful. And, yes, I imagine she's surrounded by people as self-absorbed as herself, few real friends. You can tell when a person is happy inside (Lana), Zara does not give this impression, so my guess (I am actually qualified a bit) is that unhappy people like/need to make others unhappy. I hope she reaches some self-knowledge- not in this show- but at some point in her life she looks back and sees it.

LikeTearsInRain · 26/01/2023 13:08

@Lampzade as they would say in LI - 100%. Surely they all have a plan. Just admit it you’re in there for the once in a lifetime opportunity from going from casual modelling and the occasional music video to a 6 figure boohoo deal!

Vibe was also in the last series a lot too. I'm pleased they seem to have dropped the "I feel like" before EVERY sentence this year though. That's been about for a while, prevalent in TOWIE too. I find it jarring (as Zara would say 😂)

stockpilingallthecheese · 26/01/2023 13:27

I liked it in the early series when they didn't bother getting all done up in the evenings and just hung out smoking in their PJs and getting drunk, much more realistic!!

Same with Big Brother. All the best convos happened in the smoking area!

kerkyra · 26/01/2023 13:36

I'm following the thread and really enjoying the series.
Olivia reminds me so much of Liv from made in Chelsea,in mannerisms and facial. I like her.
I'm hoping Ron doesn't go off lana as she does question him a lot about where his head is at and what he is thinking, I think she has really fallen for him.

Aquarius1234 · 26/01/2023 13:37

Video doing the rounds of Will doing drugs at a party on holiday.

Aquarius1234 · 26/01/2023 13:42

I think Olivia is soooo passive aggressive.
Her and Zara are as bad as each other.

What I thought was strange, was that Olivia didn't react to her change in personality or give it back at all really.
Made me think after that Olivia knows Zara really well or used to real life. No comments about the London slang vibe from Zara etc

Yes! This. Hoodies, shorts, toasties and a fag. Like, reality!

I thought she might have assumed by that outburst, Zara would have left every man in the country cold... Tom included, so no need for her to react.

For some unknown reason Tom doesn't seem put off in the slightest! Perhaps he isn't into classy women and prefers a bit of rough🤔
