Love Island Winter 2023 pre-series discussion

Looks like Love Island producers have announced that participants' social media will be locked whilst the programme airs. (Looking for reliable source, so far I can only find tabloid stories).
I hope it's true, I think it's needed.

I haven't seen anything official either. To be honest I don't think it will make much difference, surely they can go on twitter when they're out and search #theirname and find plenty of judgement/vitriol/adoration etc?

Am assuming this is the one being filmed in SA? Any ideas when it's starting?

Jan 16th seems to be the rumoured start date, but nothing firm yet.

I wonder when the line-up will be revealed and if there will be any surprise ex-islander returns like Adam Collard last series...

I don't really want anyone returning unless they were someone who got messed about and didn't leave with love before if you know what I mean!

An influencer has been mooted, but I'd not heard of her (wrong age group to be influenced) and thus I can't remember her name.

Contestants are being revealed today on Instagram. I can see photos and a brief description but no videos.

@Peasepuddingbloodycold I was wondering if it could be a flop too! I must admit I do love watching but with it being series 9 and going into two series a year it might be a bit much...

Did anyone watch the channel 4 doctumentary Untold: Life After Love Island? A lot of contestants admitted they went on there for fame and money and it showed how difficult it is to make a living as an influencer if you're not one of the big few names each season. I guess there's too many influencers now competing for deals compared to back in 2017 when series 3 was out...

I did watch that documentary it was interesting. I felt sorry for them will have to see how this season goes, however coming out so soon after the last one ended they may also struggle to find success.

@viva87 yes and for past islanders too, as they normally get a full year for deals, promotions etc but cut short now there is another season so soon and new faces that brands will want to work with...

I saw the documentary too. Post-Island life as an influencer seems a lot of hard work.

Also, today I was thinking that the drug rumours around some of the male ex-islanders are sad. What a waste. (I don't know much about drug-taking, but apparently gurning is a bit of a give away).

I've given up on Love Island, even though I used to love it. I got sick to my teeth last year of the bullying and misogyny the producers allowed to go on, from Luca and Dani and others.

Similar occured on the latest series of LI Australia.

I noticed we got to vote for the first bombshell to go in but not to choose who should be coupled up with who like last series, suppose it wasn't a popular decision. Would really love to see the boys enter the villa first then the girls!

I didn't think to install the app so missed the bombshell vote, wonder if whoever doesn't go in will go in at a later date?

I think I'll watch later but not live, give it 20-30 mins so I can whizz through the no doubt plentiful adverts!

But the last couple of series was pretty formulaic, and the producers don't show enough of what I'd like to see ie not endless "go and talk to him/her and find out "where their heads at" chats" but more of what happens when they're not being directed who to talk to but are just hanging out. I think we see far more of their personalities and temperament on Unseen than on the real show, and I think it would be more rounded, and therefore interesting, if that changed

Yes, I'm wondering if I'll last this series out. My work pattern has changed so I no longer have need of a bit of background noise in a morning.
