Hello all GPTD fans the next series has been announced and will start on 8th January at 7:45. It’s a Sunday night and it’s on Channel 4 as usual.

Festive Pottery Throw Down is on Christmas Day too. James Fleet, Jamie Laing, Jenny Eclair and Sunetra Sarker are the celebrities taking part this year.

Dear lord in heaven. Derek's looks like a representation of Hades.

True 😂

HeadNorth · 12/02/2023 20:51

Derek’s is bad - it may save George. I think suspension bridge guy for potter of the week, maybe - his is lovely.

Sunbird24 · 12/02/2023 20:52

Yes, Derek’s is Giants Causeway at midnight, on a cloudy night

Others went wrong but I feel Helen’s wasn’t very ambitious.

To be fair, Dungeness doesn’t have that many features, unless you include the power station and the Jarman house, oh and the fish hut,and the old coastguard lookout ( where I have stayed) , but I don’t think she included any of them!

Angliski · 12/02/2023 20:54

Keef. Yes he cries.

but he also gets the rage. When someone doesn’t do their best or think enough about the clay. You can see he is livid.

also, the man should not be allowed to dress himself unsupervised.

that is all.

viques · 12/02/2023 20:56

George should have painted the cracks in gold and called it kintsugi.

Piggywaspushed · 12/02/2023 20:57

Noooooooo

Maireas · 12/02/2023 20:57

Interestingly, George is currently working in obstetrics and gynaecology.

Not sure why but that made me involuntarily clench 😅

HeadNorth · 12/02/2023 20:59

Right decision I think, but sorry to see George go. Jon definitely deserved potter of the week, his was the nicest (and not a seascape)

hellobethyname · 12/02/2023 21:29

I start my pottery ceramics starter class at the end of the month thanks to this programme ! Cannot wait !

LaChatte · 12/02/2023 21:31

Be warned, it can work out being being a VERY expensive hobby!

HeadNorth · 12/02/2023 21:32

The potters do all seem incredibly middle class - you obviously need a bob or two to be a potter.

Oh bugger really ? The Introduction to ceramics course is £135 for 6 weeks but all materials included. I'm planning to do the next course .

MadamLeota · 12/02/2023 22:30

Anyone local to staffs Valentine Clays in Fenton do some great courses.

hellobethyname · 12/02/2023 22:47

I'm really excited about it so hope it's not massively expensive to continue!

LaChatte · 12/02/2023 22:55

I started out doing a taster course. I now have my own workshop. VERY expensive hobby 😂 totally worth it though.

hellobethyname · 12/02/2023 22:57

How expensive is VERY ?

hellobethyname · 12/02/2023 22:57

In my head I'm the new Clarice cliff 😂

hellobethyname · 12/02/2023 23:02

Lachatte

You're own workshop like not a potters wheel in the shed I take it ?

CrossPurposes · 12/02/2023 23:57

The editing drives me mad. I want to see what they've made properly. We barely got to see the masks and we saw more of Keith's reaction to Caitlin's lamp than the lamp itself.

Seconded.

He has grown out of many of his clothes and should think about getting something that fits.

I agree. The editing also showed that George would be getting the boot. There were lots of soundbites with George talking to camera. It was obvious he was for the chop. I'd rather keep guessing until the end.

ArcaneWireless · 13/02/2023 13:35

Caitlin’s vase village is nearby and dear to me. I was always going to favour it.

I did love Derek’s vase too. I’m all for a bit of dark and moody.

The masks? Helen and Caitlin and James for me.

I didn’t agree with the two ‘winners’.

I wanted to give George a big bosie.

Sometimes you have to go too much, too fast, too big.

You never know sweetheart, someday it might just pay off.

ArcaneWireless · 13/02/2023 13:41

Ah @Maireas my friend.

You thought Derek’s lamp looked like Hades.

Might explain why I loved it. My inner Nan has a holiday caravan there. 😘
