Hello all GPTD fans the next series has been announced and will start on 8th January at 7:45. It’s a Sunday night and it’s on Channel 4 as usual.

Festive Pottery Throw Down is on Christmas Day too. James Fleet, Jamie Laing, Jenny Eclair and Sunetra Sarker are the celebrities taking part this year.

Yeah, the blokes don't know who he is, do they?

HeadNorth · 12/02/2023 20:23

I’m enjoying this judging

HeadNorth · 12/02/2023 20:23

I really liked James blue & white

LaChatte · 12/02/2023 20:26

Adding Venitian mask to the list of things I want to try and make.

viques · 12/02/2023 20:27

I really hope, tongue in cheek hope, that for the next series they ban all references to seasides, coasts and fish. And I am saying this with a natural affinity to water being a Pisces person and all.

Piggywaspushed · 12/02/2023 20:29

Yes, seaside ban! Let's have Spaghetti Junction, Watford Gap and the Magic Roundabout (Hemel or Swindon- you choose).

Sunbird24 · 12/02/2023 20:32

I’m liking the hot air balloons

LaChatte · 12/02/2023 20:33

I hope they don't all go for a glossy finish, won't look good under a light bulb.

Maireas · 12/02/2023 20:38

Caitlin seems fine now. She and George seem to get on well, I suppose they've a lot in common being medics

Piggywaspushed · 12/02/2023 20:39

OMG that's hideous.

Sunbird24 · 12/02/2023 20:40

Oh poor George!

Lawandsawdus · 12/02/2023 20:10

In a real pottery would they just use a trolley between bench and drying room?

Depends is the answer there.
Mass produced ware, most likely it gets loaded to trolleys and taken to the next department.
Bespoke, will be at the makers preference and depend on piece and quantity.

Gladstone is original. It’s a heritage site so still very much as it was at the height of the industry. There are very few modern factories left here (though more than there used to be thanks to the likes of Emma Bridgewater etc!) as most of the industry went to the far east in the late eighties early nineties, but the fancier factories had concrete floors not the old rickety floorboards of Gladstone.

LaChatte · 12/02/2023 20:40

Aww poor George.

Piggywaspushed · 12/02/2023 20:40

Oh George!!

Is Giant's Causeway bloke going to get a Get Out of Jail Free card? Boo.

Sunbird24 · 12/02/2023 20:41

It’ll be easier to get it wired though George…

Maireas · 12/02/2023 20:41

George's and Derek's are ugly.
I'm glad George has perked up.

LaChatte · 12/02/2023 20:42

Love Lois' again.

PritiPatelsMaker · 12/02/2023 20:42

I'm sure I've seen them use trolleys in Wedgwood when Me and DD visited.

Maireas · 12/02/2023 20:44

Don't like Lois' bottom part.
Jon's is lovely. James - really nice.

LaChatte · 12/02/2023 20:46

God some of these are hideous.

Maireas · 12/02/2023 20:47

Dear lord in heaven. Derek's looks like a representation of Hades.

MadamLeota · 12/02/2023 20:47

Possibly. Wedgwood is a purpose built mass producing factory so they will use trolleys for speed.
Back in the days of my parents and grandparents, everything was loaded on to trays and carried much like the photo. My dad started out making saucers before he had a change in career, my mum a lithographer. My grandfather was a saggar makers bottom knocker, which always amuses me.

Others went wrong but I feel Helen’s wasn’t very ambitious.

Sunbird24 · 12/02/2023 20:48

I missed Derek’s as my shopping arrived

Sunbird24 · 12/02/2023 20:48

Oh, seen
