William "screamed and shouted" at Harry.

Ep5.
So that's the big accusation we've been waiting for.

Then a denial that he, Harry, denied William had bullied him and MM.

Denying that you denied it so implying it was true that William was bullying them?

Never liked William anyway. Hope he's never King.

OK. What was his name then? I'll happily admit I was wrong, but all my fact checking has only turned up Doria. I'll accept a google link

The only reference I can find to an uncle in connection with the wedding is this.

Thoughts on the cottage comments from our duke and duchess, anyone?

"As far as people were concerned we were living in a palace. [But] we were living in a cottage," Harry said. "On palace grounds," the duke added before Meghan said: " Kensington Palace sounds very regal of course, it does say palace in the name. But Nottingham Cottage was small." Harry commented: "The whole thing was really small on a slight lean with low ceilings," before he jokingly added: "Whoever lived their before must have been small." Meghan, meanwhile, revealed that her husband hit his head constantly "because he's so tall". She adds: "It was a chapter in our lives where I don't think anyone could believe what it was actually like behind-the-scenes." Harry then reveals that chat show legend Oprah came over for tea and was stunned by where they were living. "No one would ever believe it," she reportedly told the pair.

My thoughts are that they were living their rent and bills free, unlike so many of us. MM had been living in a tiny flat in canada prior to her being with Harry, and was never a home owner. Harry of course lived in palaces, so it would have been small for him. I'm sure they could have negotiated a large place.

What a weird trapped goldfish bowl of a life. I can’t tell whether it’s reasonable to have yelled at anyone in that situation because I can’t fathom how they can live like that. On one level William has loads of control but on another he has none. And Harry’s life was the same but as number 2 (then number 5). It must be a very strange place mentally to be told you have such status but you don’t have any control of that because you didn’t earn it in the first place. And your status changes through factors outside your control. Whole thing is completely mad. We tolerate this nonsense just because there are drawbacks with every constitutional set up but so what, can’t be worse than this shambles.

Freedom to live your life as you want with all doors being open doors is a pretty new concept. Throughout most of history, not only ruling families but many regular families had very limited options as to who they would be in life. Circumstances and culture dictated a great deal of their lot in life.

Ruling and royal families now stand out more against the current landscape of freedom to move about and more opportunity. I think the monarchy has had its day andcould use a transition or exit plan for the coming decades. They could continue to work on their many causes but slowly transition to being a private rich family with a Foundation like many of the rich and famous.

I think they’re ridiculous moaning about living in a beautiful cottage. Millions (myself included) would absolutely love to live in a cottage like that, with a garden, in London, on private grounds to keep them perfectly safe. They’re unbelievably out of touch. Plus, as a newly married couple surely the intimacy and privacy of a smaller home would be a big thing in its favour. Hence W&K living there, as well as Eugenie and her husband.

Where were they moaning about the cottage? They literally weren’t!

they we’re complaining about the press intrusion and racism. It’s not like it’s hard to understand.

people really will make up any old crap won’t they?

Tabitha005 · 15/12/2022 17:41

Continually amazed by anyone who's surprised that a prince and a Hollywood actress are making it ALL about them.

IAmWomanHearMeRoar1 · 15/12/2022 17:42

"Sequel weddings aren’t an entirely new concept. It basically refers to a couple hosting multiple ceremonies, and this is already tradition in many cultures and religions."

H&M remind me of a couple in my my family. Nothing they love more than to take comments or normal interactions as badly as possible and find something to feel insulted by. They have a huge "us against the world" mentality and fall out with everyone at the drop of a hat, which turns into years of silent treatment while they're constantly reinforcing each others sense of grievance and outrage. It's exhausting to deal with tbh and most people end up keeping them at a distance as the unnecessary self created drama and conflict is distressing and tedious.

Totally agree. How many young families in London can only dream of this space, and with a garden.

Also William and Kate lived in the cottage until after George was born. So weird that Harry pretended not to know who had lived there before him.

healthadvice123 · 15/12/2022 17:45

@IAmWomanHearMeRoar1 it was how she implied it , the fact it had to be denied by arch bishop etc
Its not obviously a thing with everyone, not every black American does the same thing surprisingly , i mean she worded it poorly , he is British so he knew how it would be taken, he seems to not tell her a lot really

exactly as i said. Only Doria was invited.

shockthemonkey · 15/12/2022 17:46

That is exactly what she said. They EXCHANGED VOWS. To many people, exchanging vows is the point. Not the paperwork.

Oh dear, IamWoman. Here is a verbatim quote, I hope it helps:

"You know, three days before our wedding, we got married - no-one knows that."

I can't tell if you're being willfully blind or what.

healthadvice123 · 15/12/2022 17:47

@IAmWomanHearMeRoar1 all she had to say was before the legal wedding etc , many have ceremonies, exchanging vows etc but they say that

JemimaTiggywinkles · 15/12/2022 17:48

Where were they moaning about the cottage?

The start of episode 4. I was watching it as I typed!

purpledalmation · 15/12/2022 17:48

I give up. It wasn't a marriage ceremony, it was an exchange of vows. Many people do this, most on an aniversary after the real wedding. MM said they were married. She lied. End of. Unless the old archbishop is the liar?

It only had to be denied by the arch bishop because the UK has an extremely strict view of marriage. In most countries it wouldn't have even needed a denial because no one would question it. Most of us would know what she meant.

Even if the little brother is a jealous petulant twat who sells stories about his family to the highest bidder? Really??

Yes, and? People do consider exchange of vows 'married', even if not legally.

Yes, an exchange of vows is considered a marriage ceremony in different cultures. You are wilfully and stubbornly refusing to admit you were ignorant of different cultures. She didn't lie. You just didn't understand that not all cultures see marriage as LEGALLY BINDING.

That’s a lie in itself.
