You know what I mean. Woman gets an inn (left in a will/wins/buys). Goes to a quaint town. Meets attractive but annoying man blah blah.
Very cheesy but I like them! Is it too early to start watching them? I want to see them all! Anyone with me?

Just started Falling for Christmas with Lindsay Lohan.
Anyone with me???

I watched it earlier this evening. It's pretty bad! Is it very similar to Hallmark films?

jay55 · 10/11/2022 22:08

Watched the Lyndsay one earlier.
Memory loss and a conveniently dead wife. Delicious trash.

12 Gifts of Christmas - struggling but extremely talented artist living in her sister's basement , sister has 2 adorable DDs who artist babysits for

Meets Rich Bloke In Coffee Shop who cannot spend the time buying his presents so asks her to be his Christmas Planner . He takes her to meet his very glam, wealthy Mother , Artist paints a portrait of the Family as a gift .
The Mother practically forces them together (Red Flags) and they Live Happily Ever After

Angels In the Snow - family in turmoil, workaholic DH takes his wife and 3 DC to the fabulous lodge he designed but its a business showpiece not a home .A make-or-break Christmas , they're on the brink of divorce
A family knock on the door (stuck in snow) and they stay for Christmas , learning a bit about sharing and compassion.
There's a sad backstory , an annoying young child and a twist in the end .

ShakeYourFeathers · 10/11/2022 23:28

Watching SnowKissed on Amazon prime at the moment

It ticks all the boxes and it's so obvious even the cast say that it's obvious

JenniferWooley · 11/11/2022 11:21

@ShakeYourFeathers I have this on in the background while I'm working from home today

Ilovehatecleaning · 11/11/2022 12:32

@MrsMitford3 I'm with you. Just starting Falling for Christmas. The weekend has begun. Even the music is cheesy.
I think I need to get a lot of snacks in for the next three days

I have some questions...

1 if you subscribe to Hallmark does it have aaaaalllll the Christmas movies on there or just this year's?

2 are there any set in/around a bookshop? I'd bloody love that!

3 What recognisable actors have you seen in Hallmark movies? I am more intrigued if there's someone I recognise in them!

Not sure

There must be,

I recognise some of them. None of them are really a-lister Oscar winners. Buts there's been many times when I've been like oh it's such and such from that trashy tv show I watched.

One of the reasons why I wish I could wfh

Raahh · 11/11/2022 13:13

Synch 'Christmas Around the Corner' is set in a bookshop (Vermont ,as usual Grin). It's the only one that comes to mind off the top off my head, but there must be more.

I don't have the Hallmark channel itself- but on Virgin/Freewiew the GRT!XMAS movies channel shows the hallmark/hallmark style movies. Also, Movies 24, which becomes a Christmas channel from October -January 2nd ish. It's hard to tell if they show them all- they get repeated so often, and have been going a while. There do seem to be a lot more from th last 2/3 years than normal though.

As for 'recognisable'- it really depends on your idea of 'famous'. Don't be expecting to spot
Meryl Streep Grin. So, yes, Mariah Carey turned up in one, and actors such as Melissa Joan Hart, Haylie Duff, Rupert Penry Jones was in 'Crown for Christmas'- but 'well known' is more 'well known' in the genre- Candace Cameron Bure (Well known in the US for Full/Fuller House) has cornered the market- and is in lots of them. LAcey Chabert (Party of Five) is as well. Toni Braxton has turned up in a couple, and Kristin Davis (Sex and the City) has been in a few.

But it depends on who you mean by 'well known'.

I never really recognise as many of the blokes- they all kind of merge into one
though the bloke who was Bailey on 'Party of 5 ' is in one with Kristin Chenoweth.

Raahh · 11/11/2022 13:15

Although, I am watching one now- where it took me ages to recognise Adrian Grenier (Entourage, Devil Wears Prada).
Terrible hair do .Grin.

Raahh · 11/11/2022 13:18

Oh- and Andie McDowell is in 'Christmas Inheritance'- which a pp mentioned up thread. Grin

Oh I loved Bailey from Party of 5, back in the day.

I think Netflix ones have slightly more well known actors

JenniferWooley · 11/11/2022 13:39

@SynchOrSwim the hallmark channel have loads from all years.

I now have Christmas Tree Lane with Alicia Witt & Andrew Walker on but blatantly watching as I'm technically on lunch.

jay55 · 11/11/2022 13:42

Kristoffer Polaha who was in Life unexpected does a lot of these. But it usually takes me half film to remember where I recognise him from.

Raahh · 11/11/2022 13:47

Netflix does have more of the 'better' Grin films- things like Deck the Halls, Christmas Chronicles, Nativity! (Used to have Arthur Christmas ,but doesn't now).

jay I spend most of the films on imdb Grin

Ilovehatecleaning · 11/11/2022 15:03

Well I just finished watching Falling for Christmas. It was bad but I'm not sorry I watched it. I was surprised to look out the window and not see any snow. And I'm not wearing mainly red and green.
Seems from this thread that there are lots of us out there.
The season is upon us

The other guy in Life Unexpected the radio co-host fiancé is in a lot of them too

BigFatLiar · 11/11/2022 16:22

I suspect they have a group of actors who are regulars in their movies. Same with ghx movies on some of the other er channels like Legend. Not going to make them stars but it'll pay the rent.

Same with Midsomer Murders, same actors keep appearing, victim one episode murderer next episode.

TheChosenTwo · 11/11/2022 16:26

Haha my mum loves these and my siblings and I rip the piss out of her mercilessly!! I must say, all in good humour though.
I dropped round some shopping for her the other afternoon and she was watching one where a woman fell in love with a nutcracker who turned into a human 😂😂 wtf?!
Anyway, I don’t watch them myself but crack on everyone else, we all enjoy different things :)

diddl · 11/11/2022 16:33

Just watched a non-Christmas one (The Wedding Veil) with Lacey Chabert.

She's 40!

KangarooKenny · 11/11/2022 17:52

Does anyone remember this one ? woman moving from the city, takes her cat in a carrier on the train, train breaks down so she has to stay a night in the cute Christmassy town, stays in the renovated loft above an antiques type shop, bad tempered lady in a cafe is involved, the love interest picks her up from the train station as a taxi driver.

inappropriateraspberry · 11/11/2022 19:57

Lacey Chabert doesn't age, does she? Then and now is no difference!

kangaroo that one sounds really familair (and like I watched it very recently) but I can't think of the name- or find it from a description - which is annoying!
