KAREN PIRIE - ITV SUNDAY 8pm - TV PACE NO SPOILERS

New series - 3 episodes for 2 hrs long each

and hopefully no one singing jazz at end 😂😂

Fife Police Detective Sergeant Karen Pirie is tasked with reopening a cold case from 1996 involving Rosie Duff, a barmaid who was strangled in the Scottish town of St Andrews. The teen's body was found by three drunken students, Sigmund “Ziggy” Malkiewicz, Tom “Weird” Mackie, and Alex Gilbey, who immediately became suspects. But a lack of forensic evidence prevented any potential criminal charges from going forward.

Twenty-five years on, the initial investigation into Rosie's death was negligent. And, as the official synopsis reads, “someone appears to be willing to risk everything to keep the secrets surrounding the case hidden” and suggests that the three men initially involved may “know more than they previously revealed.”

val the author, And despite obviously being protective of her work, she graciously let Kenny and the writers change what they needed (to a certain extent). “Truly it's the team's job to bring the story to life on their terms,” she said. “My job when the series is being made is only to occasionally step in and tell them if a plot line couldn't happen, because I know what happens further down the line in the books.”

but does that mean the change the story from the books

has anyone read these stories

there are 6 in all. 3 now and 3 next year

There are actually six books that follow Karen’s journey as a detective, so you can (hopefully) expect more Karen Pirie to come.

TV is very rarely without a gripping drama in the works and now the latest has been announced. Based on the work of crime author Val McDermid, Karen Pirie is being brought to life by the same production company that’s behind BBC’s Line of Duty and Bodyguard so it looks like we’ll be in for a real treat.

Ok I retried. Just for you @mum2jakie

still effort back and forth

but assuming pod caster is Rosie’s daughter

as dad is black at the scan

so like the secrets she keeps

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 27/09/2022 10:51

Tho i did get puzzled at end with the 3 in cold having a chat

I thought then black man (sorry rubbish with names) had a baby with Rosie but he’s having a baby now with blonde lady ?

maybe I shouldn’t have watched after working last night

OP posts:
CaptainMyCaptain · 27/09/2022 10:51

The scan was now not in the past. One of the three students (the artist) now in his 40s. He received a message from the doctor wanting to meet up and 'tell the truth'.

I don’t think the podcaster is the baby.

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/09/2022 10:57

recap e1

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 27/09/2022 10:58

Yes I reliesed that at the end @CaptainMyCaptain

i should def not watch half asleep 😂

still think podcaster is the baby Rosie had

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 27/09/2022 10:59

And Karen’s boss seemed cagey about tracing adoption

wondering if he may be Rosie’s baby’s dad

I am enjoying it but as I live in StAndrews I find i am being distracted by whether bits are filmed there or elsewhere! I remember when they were here filming it.

Tallisker · 27/09/2022 14:26

Isn't the podcaster a journalist?

Elderflower14 · 27/09/2022 19:14

Now watching.. My sister went to Uni at St Andrews and I climbed that tower in the cathedral grounds with her in 1983.
The night of the Euro 96 Semi Final I was in hospital with Pre Eclampsia... I was allowed to watch... My blood pressure had been very calm... It wasn't after the match!!!!

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/09/2022 19:16

It is lovely watching stuff that you know the place

OP posts:
Piggywaspushed · 27/09/2022 19:26

Those students are not posh enough for St Andrew's!

Piggywaspushed · 27/09/2022 19:28

Surprised you gave up blondes. I thought this was miles better than most of the crap that's been on lately. Reminded me a bit of Unforgotten.

mum2jakie · 27/09/2022 19:32

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/09/2022 10:59

He definitely knows something about the baby and/or is involved in some way!

I agree, this is much better than a lot of the dramas aired lately. This has a ring of credibility that a lot of series don't have. (Trigger point I'm looking at you...)

bawsy · 27/09/2022 21:31

I enjoyed it, although it's set local to me, and the lead actress definitely doesn't have a Methil accent GrinGrin

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/09/2022 22:01

@Piggywaspushed I think I just wasnt in the right mood So gave up after 30m

i rewatched this am and agree was better. But 6hrs is a long time for one story

People don't necessarily work where they grew up. I don't have an accent local to the place I've lived for over 30 years.

lazymum99 · 28/09/2022 08:53

Watched the first one last night. Really enjoyed it but thought it would be a separate story each week. Can’t find the other 2 on sky to download so will have to watch with ads on itv hub.
Made even better by Michael Moon from EE playing one by of the police. Haven’t seen him since he was stabbed by Janine!!

diddl · 28/09/2022 21:45

still think podcaster is the baby Rosie had

Wouldn't she be too old?

And Karen’s boss seemed cagey about tracing adoption

Yes-I do hope it's not that one of the police did it & covered their tracks!

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/09/2022 22:15

Not sure @diddl baby was born 3yr before Rosie died. She been dead 25yrs ? Is that right so 28 is the age of her daughter

but sure the police boss is hiding something. Just seemed so keen to keep the adoption ffom
being check out

mrstea301 · 28/09/2022 23:32

I've only watched the first episode so far, but now have suspicions that Karen Pirie is Rosie's adopted baby! Purely based on the ages - there's a point when someone asks her if she remembers Rosie going missing and she says she was three years old...

Blondeshavemorefun · 29/09/2022 04:01

@mrstea301 oh. Well deducted

wonder if she is

and if she was that would mean tho chief policeman is her dad - if I’m correct that he’s dad as seems intent not for her to look at records

of karen mentions she’s adopted then ……

OP posts:
diddl · 29/09/2022 08:15

Is that right so 28 is the age of her daughter

Yes about that & I was thinking that the podcaster was early/mid 30s?

Maybe too close to call?

Maybe the father of the baby didn't know that she'd been pregnant at the time & killed her when he found out later?

Maybe it's him who murdered Ziggy?

Ooh-or the daughter?

That would tie in the the podcaster who seems to know so much & would want justice for her mum?

diddl · 29/09/2022 09:33

Ooh-the actress whose plays KP is 29, the podcaster 38.

KillingMeDeftly · 30/09/2022 08:13

Have watched 2 episodes (no spoilers!) and am enjoying it. I like Lauren Lyle - she's great in Outlander and she's very personable in this too.

Who remembers Karen's boss as the office boy (Joe?) in This Life back in the 90s??
