I think you're right Raahh all the good logos are taken and poor Dan has to make do with a hurried scribble Grin

Fizzywinegum · 04/08/2022 21:43

I’ve just switched on - not sure what is happening - Taylor Fritz just sat on his chair looking like he’s having an existential crisis?

ooh not sure about Dan’s haircut

it does look very hot!

Need to check out the chicken/bull squiggle

JaneJeffer · 04/08/2022 21:50

I wonder how these tournaments can afford to go on with such poor attendance.

Fizzywinegum · 04/08/2022 21:56

It does just look as if there are only a few people there Jane

JaneJeffer · 04/08/2022 21:57

Wonder what's up with Taylor. He looks drugged up Confused

JaneJeffer · 04/08/2022 21:58

Trash? Dan is picking up the local lingo Grin

JaneJeffer · 04/08/2022 22:09

Oh he's off.

Well done Dan.

kazzaD66 · 04/08/2022 23:36

That's exactly what I said. Taylor looks Amish! I loved Witness. One of my favourite films (Harrison Ford at his yummiest BlushGrin).
Anyway, back to the tennis. Taylor really didn't look with it towards the end. Also, what did Mo have on his right arm? Looked like a towel wrapped round it and secured with blue tape Confused

Welldone to Dan and Emma. Wonder if Dan will still play the doubles?

JaneJeffer · 05/08/2022 00:17

I didn't notice Mo's arm. I was distracted by his strange sunglasses/headband getup.

I love Witness too kazza and Harrison in general.

Raahh · 05/08/2022 08:20

I noticed Mo's arm-at first it looked like he was halfway through taking a jacket sleeve off, and then just left it Grin.

He must be going for a new casual style, or something Grin

I saw that Emma won- but was plagued by callouses on her hands and blisters again.
Not sure what happened with Taylor, but there have been some up and down matches this week. It is very hot apparently- I'm wondering if the the weather is a factor for the players- and maybe the low attendance. Have they got the on court air con hose things? I haven't noticed.
I'm sure they will make an appearance over the next few weeks, if the weather is similar in Cincy/New York. And ice towels. Grin

JaneJeffer · 05/08/2022 12:48

Dan's solution is to plonk a dripping bag of ice on top of his head Grin

Raahh · 05/08/2022 15:51

Jane that sounds like a good idea!

Rafa has withdrawn from Montreal, which is a bit of a worry. I'm getting slight flash backs to last year, where, having not played at Wimbledon, he lost to Lloyd Harris in Washington, and then withdrew from the Canadian open and didn't play again til January.

He's on track for the race year end number 1- and could get back to the top of the rankings, with some decent results- but it's all starting to look a bit less of an option than it was when it was all going so well at the start of the year.

JaneJeffer · 05/08/2022 17:18

Poor Rafa. Still he has his baby to look forward to DV

I've just put Andrey and Maxime on. I was interested to the reception Andrey would get from the Americans but had to wait while the announcer gave a full history of his career so far Grin they gave him a warm welcome anyway.

Raahh · 05/08/2022 17:50

That's nice- I think the Russian players have struggled a bit when they had chance to play- it's such a difficult situation. Daniil is doing ok in Los Cabos, he's through to the semi final.
I've had to let DD2 have the tv for a bit. I've been making her sort out school stuff and she is getting fed up Grin

Raahh · 07/08/2022 09:26

I have been looking at some scores-Kyrgios is unfortunately into the final in Washington, Daniil beat Norrie in Los Cabos.
I saw that Emma was out of Washington earlier- and has been handed a tough draw in Montreal, her first round match is last year's winner, Camila Giorgi. Camila hasn't been having a great year- but let's be honest, neither has Emma.

Murray has drawn Taylor Fritz in Montreal. So that run could be short lived too- unless Taylor's issues the other day were more than just heat related.

The weeks are flying by, and I don't like it. Sad

I saw a clip of Kyrgios v Tiafoe. He looked really happy Shock

Sascha has started a foundation for children with Type 1 diabetes. He doesn't usually speak about his diabetes so I was quite surprised.

Raahh · 07/08/2022 12:42

That's nice about Sascha. I know BJK has type 1 as well. It's not something that gets a lot of attention- and is often misunderstood (ds has a friend with type 1, diagnosed very young, and so does his sister. They get frustrated because so many people assume it is the same as type 2 and life style related, and of course it's not the same thing).

I am so glad I have seen none of Kyrgios's matches. I can hear the commentary now - they have probably got him world number 1 by Christmas. He's so talentedHmm

I see Daniil's trophy is one for the curious things cabinet.

Raahh · 07/08/2022 13:01

It is an interesting trophy, isn't it? Jane? Colourful, and quite Mexican, I
suppose.
Daniil was missing a sombrero though. Grin

ChessieFL · 07/08/2022 14:18

Shame about Norrie losing - he seemed to have given up in the second set. Getting to a final still a good result though. And yes that is a bonkers looking trophy.

Raahh · 07/08/2022 14:34

I've just realised that Daniil could end up playing Kyrgios is his first match in Montreal- so I hope that either Nick has such a tough match in his Washington final he pulls out altogether, or Seb Baez beats him in his first round there.

Just shows how far Carlos has come though- he's seeded number 2 in Canada(now that Rafa has withdrawn).

There's a children's book about Jannik. So cute.

Raahh · 08/08/2022 09:48

The Sinner book looks cute, Jane .

Kyrgios has won the doubles and singles in Washington. Can't see any books about him being suitable for children, really. Too many swear words Grin

I'm feeling a bit glum today and need to shake myself out of it. So, I am avoiding doing anything useful by watching old episodes of 'Midsomer Murders' (which reminds me of Private Grin).

It's Federer's birthday today Cake
41.
It's quite strange to think that on some level he is still an 'active' player- though he hasn't actually played in over a year. I've never really been a fan, but it will be nice to see him at the Laver Cup with Rafa (hopefully ignoring Djok).

Happy Birthday, Roger. Wine
