Thanks Raahh looks like there could be rain Hmm - suppose it wouldn’t be Manchester without a bit of drizzle Grin

Fizzy I'm sure it rained here last night- didn't get much cooler though. I've just walked the dog, and it's definitely not as hot, but I'm still sweaty Grin

Ooh yes - lovely pic of Rafa.

For the first time in my life I won't be beholden to school holidays so have signed up for the 2023 Wimbledon ballot. As it's 41 years since I last went, I think a visit is long overdue 😃

DC are just a few years too young to be left alone so I'm going to have to wait a few more years before I try.
It's at the very top of my bucket list so it will happen, eventually!

Nice photo @blibblibs

I'm knackered. Got carried away doing stuff today.

How can you sign up!for the ballot?

I was watching the ladies football last night (Well done Lionesses!) and thought Gabby Logan did a good job at being lead presenter in the post match discussion. She may be good for Wimbledon.

During the match, though the commentary annoyed me. Too much talk at times.

Lovely pictures of Rafa Smile

River if you go on the main Wimbledon website it explains what you need to do for the 2023 public ballot - I think you have to sign up to myWimbledon and make sure you change your preferences to receiving information about tickets etc

Although I’ve not managed to do this successfully for a while - seeing Rafa at Wimbledon is on my bucket list but not sure if it’s going to happen

I’m not a Gabby fan either! I think we need someone who knows about tennis, can cope with moving around different courts and who doesn’t shout - we need Sue back!

Massive football fan and don't mind Gabby as lead for the football but don't think she is right for tennis
But who? Think Sue should be kidnapped and made to continue Grin

Morning all- I had a bit of a score catch up last night and was pleased to see that Thiem won his first match in ages (against Ruusuvuori) in Bastad yesterday. It was a topsy turvy match, and a tight last set- but he will be glad to get a win after after over a year.

StanBear lost the day before.Sad

Morning Raahh - That’s a good win for Thiem - it would be really good if he could make a come back - he was doing so well before all of his injuries

I saw on the front page of the Sun (I saw it in the shop I don’t buy it!) that Boris (our Boris!) has a job in prison teaching sports science to the other prisoners so that’s good! (Hope he’s not teaching them about creative accounting Hmm)

I have always been a big fan of Domi- and he was so close to being the 'next Rafa' for a while- and then proved himself on other surfaces too. I really feel like winning the US Open was a bit of a kiss of death- everything seemed to go wong after that Sad.

I was also pleased to see Thiem win - but he’s got a tough match next against the 4th seed Bautista Agut.

Chessie it will be tough- psychologically, it must have been a big deal to get over that hurdle though- he's had some close matches, in recent months, but just hasn't been able to to get a win .

Domi has just beaten RBA. I don't think it's on tv?

Raahh · 14/07/2022 18:11

Jane I don't think Bastad is on Prime, (though I have seen a listing that says it should be- but I didn't think the men's 250 events were) it's probably streamed on the ATP tennis tv channel. T

That's a good win for Domi (I know a couple of years back it would have been pretty much expected , but now I think a win over RBA is a real step in the right direction.).

The terminally dull Djok Covid debate rumbles on- and as if we didn't think he could get more full of himself- I have just read this -
apparently he could get Serbian leaders to approch the US Government to grant him an exemption- because there is such as thing as 'US Proclamation 10294' which states exceptions can be granted for: "Persons whose entry would be in the national interest, as determined by the Secretary of State, Secretary of Transportation, or Secretary of Homeland Security (or their designees)."

In the national interest ?? he's a bloody tennis player, he's not the Messiah!
