Grin So true.

The Dj in Montreal is a Taylor Swift fan- but doesn't seem to have anything in their playlist post 2016. Grin.

I'm waiting for the Wawrinka match. The Rybakina match has drawn level. There is hardly anyone watching.

Grin Happy birthday Roger Wine Cake

Fizzywinegum · 08/08/2022 18:50

I still haven’t really watched any tennis - I’m missing Rafa Sad

Raahh · 08/08/2022 18:57

I miss Rafa- and I really hope he does manage to come back and play in Cincy/the US Open- and if he does he doesn't get injured/ make any exisiting niggles any worse than they are. I don't want him jeopardising the rest of the year.

What I really want is for him to finally win the tour finals. Always a big ask, indoors. His best chance was the other year when he lost to Daniil in the semis. I don't want him to retire Grin but I would be happy knowing he has an almost complete set of results.

I had to socialise today and I feel exhausted. I'd happily become a hermit. Nothing to do with tennis but I need to get it off my chest Grin

Raahh · 08/08/2022 19:08

Jane that was very brave. Socialising is hard work.

My step dad came round to measure up things for the kitchen, and plan where skips are going. Lots of mutterings about fridges that won't fit. I got stressed. There were tears. The dog barked a lot.

I am more determined than ever to win the lottery/run away/burn the house down.

OP posts:
JaneJeffer · 08/08/2022 19:10

Grin I'm always planning (in my mind) building a little house for myself at the bottom of the garden and leaving the menfolk to their own devices.

Fizzywinegum · 08/08/2022 21:30

I think we all have a lot in common on here Grin

Even though lockdown was horrible it was quite nice not having to do things that I didn’t want to do (without having to come up with excuses!)

I went on a hen night in town on Friday night - it was grim!

A little house somewhere would be nice (with lots of access to tennis of course!)

Raahh · 09/08/2022 09:37
Grin

Lockdowns were grim in many ways, but in others, didn't affect me much at all (except for having a houseful of people).
I'm finding it harder now that it is getting really busy near to where I live, because in the past year, the local village has just been taken over by cafes and restaurants- and it's only one road, really, so it's just so busy all the time. I only ever went there for the pharmacy, and occasionally the bank. Most people would be around there 5-10 minutes, tops. Now, it's impossible to park anywhere, because of all the eating places.

In tennis news, having waited for StanBear, i missed it due to all the weather delays and he lost to Ruusuvuori. Which is a shame. Because of the delays, Emil is scheduled to play again today- not sure if that will happen though.

Just watching Matteo and PCB- first set has gone PCB's way.

OP posts:
Raahh · 09/08/2022 19:08

So, PCB won, he was playing really well- Matteo just didn't seem to get going at all. It's a real shame for him his Wimbledon was de-railed by Covid.

Monfils is now playing Pedro. Not long until Gael's baby girl is due- October, I think?

I've just put Dan on. Robbie on commentary. He wants to shake Krajinovic Grin

magimedi · 09/08/2022 20:18

Serena is retiring after US open. Can't find a link but it's everywhere.

Never thought I'd say it but am getting a bit bored of endless days of 35/36C.

No rain here since May and long for some.

JaneJeffer · 09/08/2022 20:21

You should have moved to the west of Ireland magi Grin

Raahh · 10/08/2022 08:15

I've just dropped the dog off at the groomer, 6 hours earlier than his scheduled appointment because she's a neightbour, works from home and yesterday was way too hot to work past lunch time. Ive been up for hours, so it doesn't bother me (and she's only a couple of doors away Grin).

We've definitely not had no rain here. I think I'm still drying off from the storms last week.

Woke up in the night adnd saw some scores, Emma and Andy lost, Kyrgios safly won (which means he meets Daniil next). ADF- whose match I saw start seemed to be looking like he was going tto win, but ultimately lost to Diego. Beautiful Maxime Grin scored a win, as did Norrie.

Well done on your early morning productivity Raahh Grin

It’s getting hot here - I’m fed up of the heatwaves - we’re going away for a few days but it’s too hot to do anything (hopefully DH won’t have me yomping up mountains Hmm)

You do have to wonder how long Andy Murray can keep on going for - he keeps getting tough first round draws

I’m trying to ignore the Kyrgios resurgence - hopefully Daniil will see him off - I can’t see him putting up with Nick’s nonsense - could be a battle of the underarm serves!

There's been quite a lot of coverage of Serena’s ‘evolving’ from tennis - why can’t she just say she’s retiring like a normal person! Hmm

Raahh · 10/08/2022 10:49

I feel like I've been up hours (well , I have). The dog was done, and I 'd been to the station with ds, and shopping (for id photos for dd1) all before 9.30.
Don't know what to do with the rest of the day now!Grin

The Serena stuff got on my nerves, FIzzy- I mean, she's nearly 41, so its hardly really breaking news to anyone that she's going to retire at some point. And the fact it has been announced- but with no actual date set (so she might have a fluke run at the US Open and stick around for ages)- makes it a very non- retirement announcement in my view. Grin

I am trying to ignore the Kyrgios stuff too- because it feels like all the pundits who have spent 8 years banging on about how amazing he is, are now going to be going 'see, told you'. Except, he's still an underchieving knob, who is taking advantage of circumstance- various players out of action for numerous reasons, and getting a break.
He will get bored soon enoughGrin
Daniil will be at his sneery best with him, I hope. GrinIt could get ugly though- I wonder who will draw the umpiring short straw?

OP posts:
JaneJeffer · 10/08/2022 11:22

We've finally got a heatwave here and it will be quite some time yet before I'm wishing for rain!

There's a Serena thread in AIBU. I especially went on the desktop site to vote (ahem).

Holger played well last night. He's facing PCB today. Dan's got Andrey which will be tough.

Fizzywinegum · 10/08/2022 11:54

I’m interested in how you voted on the Serena thread Jane Grin

GOAT? Hmm I don’t think so Hmm

JaneJeffer · 10/08/2022 18:00

Jeez this music in Casper's match!

JaneJeffer · 10/08/2022 18:09

I'm Shazamming everything Grin

Raahh · 10/08/2022 18:17
Grin

The Djs in Montreal and Toronto really like to go for it sometimes.

I'm watching Carlos- it looked like Tommy Paul was going to level the match at 1 set all, but Carlos has just broken back.
