Seriously, hope he's ok.

Raahh · 01/09/2022 20:36

Oh trust me, kazza I've been very sweary. The house is upside down due to the kitchen being ripped out, and we have a freezer being delivered from 7am tomorrow. All sorts needs moving, or they won't get it in. I can't move the stuff. He's home, and I am not doing a very good job of being sympathetic.

I am going to hell.

Bloody hell Raahh! I'm* *with you on this. I'd be livid aswell! I know it doesn't help but....Flowers (or Gin!)

JaneJeffer · 01/09/2022 20:57

I'm stressed just reading that Raahh!

This Coria seems to be a bit of a character

Fizzywinegum · 01/09/2022 21:06

He’s quite entertaining isn’t he Jane? Not sure about the shorts though!

Oh dear Raahh hope everything gets sorted out!

JaneJeffer · 01/09/2022 21:10

Wonder why he's got Stars and Stripes. Is it a Kate Middleton style tribute to the country he's visiting?

JaneJeffer · 01/09/2022 21:14

Oh I see it was Jack Sock who retired yesterday not Diego as I thought. He was 2-1 up

Fizzywinegum · 01/09/2022 21:15

Grin I’m not sure - I think I’ve seen some other players wearing it so it’s probably just the design - does seem a bit weird wearing the flag of another country (bit like the ball kids really - unless they really are all South African)

Well done Alcaraz - Norrie looks as if he’s struggling a bit in this third set

JaneJeffer · 01/09/2022 21:17

I've put Musetti on. His shorts really clash with his top.

Raahh · 01/09/2022 21:36

I've just dropped dh at A and E. It's 5 minutes away, fortunately, but he could still be there all night.
Might have been an idea to come home from the football 2 hours earlier, instead of staying because he thinks no-one else would be capable of sorting stuff.

On the plus side, I probably won't sleep, so might get to see Rafa.

I have just turned on Musetti- Jane I see what you mean about the kit. Maybe the burgundy shorts were in the wash?

And Brouwer (another Dutch player- there seem to be lots of them all of a sudden) is wearing the dreary washed out kit that looks like dirty washing. Or i might just be a plain t-shirt- he doesn't seem to have a sponsor.

This is what happens when Sascha isn't around- the laundry just doesn't get done.

Raahh Grin I wonder if Brouwer borrowed Dan's now redundant Tesco tops

I'm sure a few hours of A&E will be a good learning curve for your DH Grin

kazzaD66 · 01/09/2022 22:08

So Norrie has won. When was the last time there were four British men in the third round of the US Open (or any GS)?

JaneJeffer · 01/09/2022 22:14

I was sitting here trying to figure out who the fourth one is. Sorry Andy oops

Fizzywinegum · 01/09/2022 22:18

Greg did say but I’ve forgotten Grin

JaneJeffer · 01/09/2022 22:21

Jamie looks like a ninja

kazzaD66 · 01/09/2022 22:25

Just seen the answer on the BBC Sport website. It's the first time at the US Open. The only other time in the open era was at Wimbledon in 1997 - Tim, Greg, Andrew Richardson and Petch!! Who knew!Grin

Fizzywinegum · 01/09/2022 22:31

I’ve just googled it as well kazza - Petch? Andrew Richardson?

tobee · 01/09/2022 22:42

Ooh I'm so glad I've found this thread again. I was dibbling about on Mumsnet after the Norrie match and saw mention of Jamie Murray. Thank god I've now just turned over from Dimitrov match. I know people find him delightful to look at but I've always found him a bit dull. Even though there appears to be no commentary on the Murray match it's already more interesting.

I've taken to crowd watching here. So interestingly different to the other grand slams on the show courts. I keep looking to see what the New Yorkers are eating at their seats, enormous bags of crisps often feature. Does anyone remember when they had no crowds in 2020 and the camera zoomed in a ginormous floofy raccoon in the stands probably thinking "eh? Where are all the corn dog leftovers? And loaded nachos I usually rely on?"

Also, last year, I looked up on the day before the final and you could still buy seats. So different to the Wimbledon ballot. Grin

Raahh · 01/09/2022 22:45

tobee Evening!

I swear the US Open makes more money out of food sales than it does from tickets- half the time the stands are pretty empty.

Although this year there is some controversy over them hiking the prices a lot due to Serena's matches.

kazzaD66 · 01/09/2022 22:47

It's normally Cam that I forget Jane. Took* *me a good 5 minutes yesterday to remember him Grin

Jamie always reminds me of a sailor barrelling along, him and Padraig Harrington Grin He never really looks like an elite sportsman Confused

Raahh · 01/09/2022 22:47

And Grigor is out. Story of his year, really, and most years recently -some steady results, and many early losses.

OP posts:
Raahh · 01/09/2022 22:49

kazza I always forget Cam- 'the Beast' Grin.

Even his snazzy shorts earlier in the year didn't make him any more interesting Grin(sorry Cam).

There's a lot of cancellations in the doubles.

kazzaD66 · 01/09/2022 23:16

It was a golden age Fizzy Grin
