The grave that was outside with the crying woman was marked with the flowers 'Louise'. She was one of the students shot. The mother of the creepy small small who kept wandering around the hospital told David that she had just recently been to the funeral of 'Louise'.

AnImaginaryCat · 03/07/2022 09:57

Well Helen and Loiuse are such similar names it's completely understandable how I mixed them up 🤣

We could be back in the 1980s, and half the school would have been called one of those (with the others called Claire or Sarah, with maybe a few Rachels thrown in for good measure).

spiderlight · 05/07/2022 11:08

Obviously there's a lot of ridiculousness with conveniently placed graves etc., but I thought the ending was quite powerful and nicely done, with him walking away on his own.

It's a drama. It isn't meant to be completely real. If it was it would be incredibly dull. Everything is done for dramatic effect.

I was amazed, when I watched bits of the Depp/Heard court case, how incredibly awkward and dull and slow it seemed - then I realised I was basing my entire knowledge of US court action on episodes of Law and Order SVU and Tom Cruise and Jack Nicholson in A Few Good Men 😂

Sometimes truth can seem unbelievable, that’s so true.

due to war, my DF had to leave his country. Afterwards, he settled in the UK and, as a foreigner, could only get unskilled jobs. The post used to come early morning, and he opened a letter from his brother before going to work. He learned his mother (who he had last seen aged 17) had died.

desperate for money, he still had to go to work. As a gravedigger.

you couldn’t make that up.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 17/07/2022 11:59

No one got any thoughts on last night’s episode? I’m quite intrigued by the notebook David found at the very end but somewhat baffled by the storyline with Stevie and Jonty - is that it? He’s just going to leave?

Jonty isn't going to go without a fight I shouldn't think. Perhaps he sees Stevie and Management Man going off together and knows he's only out on his ear because MM is shagging his nemesis so reports it higher up? Tribunal maybe?

Was a bit more like the Casualty of old last night I thought.

Notebook was Ollie’s diary/plans presumably. It was in a police evidence bag. Leaving the woman in labour in the ambulance from 2cm dilated to birth was ridiculous- they’d have wheeled her straight into maternity.

It does feel a bit like Robin is being paid to carry Marty and wet social worker’s baby via rent/bills, especially as they’ve only been together for five minutes. No doubt the baby will be born on a cliff top in the middle of a thunderstorm.

SoupDragon · 17/07/2022 13:50

I thought the notebook maybe showed that either Ollie was fully and willingly involved in the plans for the shooting or that he blames David for his the state of his mental health. Either way, it didn't look like pleasant reading for David.

TrashyPanda · 17/07/2022 21:26

I wondered if the notebook showed he was suicidal/obsessed with death.

not a fan of Robyn being a surrogate. we’ve be shown she is in a vulnerable position financially. plus the relationship is still very new and Spcial worker kept the surrogacy thing hidden from Marty, which is a red flag. It just feels abusive.

charlie not realising the elderly lady didn’t recognise her son (something that is very typical in dementia) was a really stupid mistake. Mind you, he’s not exactly been on the ball for years.

Hellocatshome · 17/07/2022 21:41

I feel like Robyn is being exploited and I'm not sure why a social worker can't see that what he is doing is morally questionable (not the surrogacy but basically getting Robyn to change her mind by offering her a place to stay rent and bill free indefinitely)

I think the notebook will reveal that Ollie tried to talk to David about the other boys plans but couldn't. Remember the episode where he was desperate to talk to David but David ws too busy?

SoupDragon · 17/07/2022 22:13

That was so manipulative and seemingly out of character. I thought it very odd (as well as morally wrong)

TrashyPanda · 17/07/2022 22:20

Him “diagnosing” the lady with dementia “just like that” was also very odd and very wrong.

the normal first step is to do the “mini mental” test. At a time when she is calm and rested, not just after a very stressful and painful experience.

Quia · 17/07/2022 22:51

Hellocatshome · 23/06/2022 19:30

I would like to think Olli didnt actually shoot anyone but we don't know that for sure. I'm not sure if the police would actually investigate exactly who shot who given the two gunmen are dead and most of the witnesses are dead as well would they?

There would be post mortems and inquests for each victim. It always used to be the case that they could tell which bullets came from which gun, not sure if that is still the case with modern guns?

The reason we don't have school shootings in England is mostly that it's difficult to get hold of guns. I wonder if there's been any sort of inquiry into how Ollie and Rob got theirs?

Quia · 17/07/2022 22:53

When Holby personnel turn up at some accident or major incident and find their colleagues in the middle of it (like David with the flats explosion), they're always absolutely amazed. I think if I worked there, I would be more amazed if I didn't find my colleagues embroiled in any given disaster as it seems to be virtually standard.

SoupDragon · 17/07/2022 23:04

By the same reasoning, they should examine the colleagues they're trapped with very thoroughly for hidden life threatening injuries.

i think they still can tell which gun shot a bullet from the rifling inside the barrel making unique marks. At least it still crops up on TV programmes!

Optimist1 · 18/07/2022 05:59

This is very likely. In Casualty, important conversations (surrogacy, imminent gun rampage, anything life-changing) seem to take place when a minimum of one person is working a very busy shift. Wait till you get home, people!

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/07/2022 14:03

AnImaginaryCat · 03/07/2022 09:31

No. He did say he was coming in and speaking. The he asked for a few minutes, everyone went it. The he noticed a new grave (no headstone) just to the right of the church church entrance. There was about 4,000 flowers on it (think one arrangement was made to say "Helen"). Anyway, there was a weeping woman holding more flowers approaching it.

He remembered Ollie as a child (we saw it as a slightly slow mo few seconds) then we were shown an aerial shot of David walking away from the church.

Least I think that's what happened however I watched it a few hours ago after just coming in from work and I'd not slept for 24 hours. I just stupid woken again now so might be slightly delirious 😄

Totally behind. Just seen this episode

he is about to go in and sees a huge grave with flowers and plaque and name of Louise in flowers

you then see him walking away Ariel
shot of him out of cemetery

snd surely Rosa and mum would be there

and no way hospital would allow David to go back to work on his sons funeral

I have watched Casualty since the first episode in 1986. But lately I'm finding it all very silly and about as removed from reality as it could possibly be. Yes it's a drama, but it did used to reflect the issues the NHS was facing and the grit and determination of the staff. Now it's just about squeezing in as many far fetched storylines as possible.

The set dressing this episode was excellent and I wanted to know more about Lyra with her dog! Dylan's hair was also excellent honestly

Unbelievably rude!

It really isn't difficult to see past typos.

Cuck00soup · 19/07/2022 07:53

I saw Sunetra Sarker being interviewed on Sunday Brunch at the weekend and she confessed said she had produced some recent episodes.

What the what now??

If you find the posts ‘incomprehensible’, you must have a pretty low reading age! Maybe spend some time working on that before you criticise others.
