I wish they'd stop showing the final pieces in the opening montage. Did they always do it so explicitly so you can basically see what the finished item looks like?

I once ordered some Japanese double gauze fabric. It was joyful to sew.

The kimono seems simple, but is deceptive.

I feel they’re being a little bit disingenuous about this make. It’s really a yukata, a kind of casual type of kimono. I bought one when I was visiting Japan; they’re like dressing-gowns (but nicer).

Yes I was wondering how far apart they film episodes. Would she grow that much in 9 weeks?

I know it's part of the design but I think I the seam halfway down the collar is weird

I know, but I think it’s a bit more than 'inspired'; it's a particular garment with a specific name, although that was a very Esmé-like bow! I did like Annie's. Good choice of fabric.
