Sewing Bee - all the buzz, none of the sting!

A thread for discussion of Sewing Bee with no criticism of the contestants' personalities, mannerisms, or looks - just their sewing and designs, please.

Who's everybody's favourite for the win? I think Brogan's going to get it, but I'd be happy for any of them to win.

Personally can't stand Claudia, I loved Joe he was funny and kind.

I agree with you. I think Sara has that same kindness.

JaceLancs · 04/07/2022 23:07

I’ve just been rewatching first series and although I’m not a fan normally thought Claudia was ok in it

plantsrus · 05/07/2022 13:45

I liked Claudia best, Sarah's ok, and thought Joe was too childish and silly.

Can't please all of us!

SierraSapphire · 06/07/2022 12:26

I thought Joe made it too much about himself whereas Sara focuses more on the contestants.

SoupDragon · 06/07/2022 14:04

I don't recall Joe making it any more about himself than Sara did TBH.

Can't please all of us!

absolutely! 😂

although I seem to remember on the Pottery Throwdown thread we all agreed that the stand in presenter was really good and should have stayed.

I wish so much that they’d publish all the patterns used on the Sewing Bee - not look alikes, or the most similar sold by the Big Four, but the actual patterns Patrick and Esme hand out plus a selection from the made to measures. There are so many ones I’ve seen over the years that I long to copy.

That would be amazing!

3luckystars · 07/07/2022 05:29

I’m the same!! What would be even better if one week they released the pattern for the following week and we could all try to make it in the time.

SoupDragon · 07/07/2022 08:54

Maybe we could all have our own Sewing Bee - there are loads of free patterns out there.

watching the programme always makes me think I can sew better than I probably can. This time I'm eyeing up a free biker jacket I want to make in something like a grey canvas as an alternative to a denim jacket. I'm genuinely not sure I have the skills required as I'm not sure I remember how to put a zip in and this has three 😂

SoupDragon · 07/07/2022 08:56

There's a website/blog (I think it's The Foldline) who search out what patterns they've used or come up with close alternatives if they can't find them.

3luckystars · 07/07/2022 10:49

I know but the Sewing Bee won’t let them use photos from the show?
They should collaborate with the Fold Line! I love it 💞

In case anyone is interested, we have our own running thread for all things sewing the Stitch and bitch, here. Newbies most welcome and I reckon you might have takers for Sewing bee type challenges.

NutellaEllaElla · 08/07/2022 06:52

Balls, I totally screwed up the link. Stitch and bitch thread here

For those keen to read Esme's book, I imagine it will be appearing soon in charity shops near you ... love the programme, love her, but lordy the book is dire!
