No matter how many times you watch them!

Casper, when the mum comes back.

Friends, when Monica is going to the sperm bank & Joey chats to her about how he sees her future & gives her a big hug. (I was desperately broody & single first time I watched that & it always still gives me the feels!)

The start of Titanic where they show that old footage & play that music.

The Lovely Bones - When Suzie's terrified, not knowing she is dead, ghost runs past the psychic .
When her Dad saw the dead roses in that neighbours garden, held one that bloomed suddenly, and he Knew
With the Ship in a Bottle
Mostly I broke at the end . With the list of all of the Children and the children appearing to Suzie .... we know the end end and it was too quick a Fate for the Monster .

The Book Thief - The Bombing of the Street and its Aftermath
The Return of Max
The End when Death describes how and when he came for Lisel , and the photographic memories in her apartment .

Mine are geeky TV ones

Doctor who : Van gogh going to the gallery of his paintings and Bill Nighy does a beautiful speech about why he's the greatest painter to have ever lived 😭

Same when Matt Smith's doctor regenerates and he sees Amy

Pp that mentioned Anya in buffy when Joyce dies. Amazing emotional speech

JonSnowedUnder · 16/06/2022 16:59

Cheesy but I always tear up during the presidents speech in Independence Day.

ER when they told Mark his daughter had a drug overdoes and he rushed into the room expecting to see is teenager and then realised it was his young toddler daughter.

The Notebook.

The closing scene of Charlotte’s Web (original from the 70s). It’s not often you find someone who is a true friend and a good writer, Charlotte was both. Teary here typing it out! Has always made me sob since I was a kid

Lovetok · 16/06/2022 17:01

@FriendlyPineapple snap! I was sat in a row on my own as my husband and daughter were behind me and my whole body was shaking where I was having to hold in the sobs.

The final scene in Coco gets me. First time we saw it I couldn’t leave the cinema until after the end credits as I couldn’t stop crying.

First 10 minutes of Up of course. Even makes DH cry.

Moana when she sees the Ray in the water and is singing I Am Moana “I will carry you here in my heart, you remind me that come what may I know the way”

Big Hero 6 when Baymax says “Hiro, I will always be with you”

Tangled when the Queen sees her for the first time.

can only think of Disney right now haha!

"Come and See," a war film based around the mass murders of entire villages by trapping people in churches and setting them alight. A mum and her toddler make a run for it but are caught. The toddler is literally thrown into the church just as it is locked and the mother is dragged by her hair off scene. Later on, she stumbles into the main scene with blood running down her legs, she looks broken. Absolutely killed me. And based on reality. Hundreds of thousands of people were burned alive during the holocaust.

Lovetok · 16/06/2022 17:03

Oh and a recent one - Derry Girls. Claire’s Dad. When she comes through the door in the hospital.

Autreete · 16/06/2022 17:04

Pet Sematary - that scene with the toddler and the truck. Watched it as a kid and that little shoe on the road haunted me for years

HeidiWhole · 16/06/2022 17:09

Toy Story 2 - when Jessie is given away
Brokeback Mountain - the shirt in the wardrobe
Truly Madly Deeply - all of it

HailAdrian · 16/06/2022 17:12

Once Were Warriors when Beth finds Grace

Awww Yea

Little Gage

In the remake (not half as good as the original) its the little girl who is killed. Ellie,

JonSnowedUnder · 16/06/2022 17:14

Inside No 9, the episode with Sheridan Smith. Once I realised what was going on, it was so unexpected as the rest of the series up until that point had been more comedy focussed.

EvergreenForest · 16/06/2022 17:15

I can't even read most of these as my eyes are misty.

'Mom? Mom?..... Mummy?'
From 'The body' episode of Buffy.

ER when they read the letter from Mark and then the post note that he passed away shortly afterwards

Steel Magnolias when Sally Field has her meltdown at the cemetery 'it's not fair'

And Mufasa dying of course...

BrylcreamBeret · 16/06/2022 17:17

Like a pp, the song when she loved me in Toy Story 2 because me and my mum would watch that together before her alcoholism kicked in.

Pride - when buses full of miners turn up for the march. I cry all the way to the end after that every time I see it.

'Where are my lesbians?'
I LOVE this film!!!

BracedlnEndIessJanuary · 16/06/2022 12:55

Years and years was the other (also Russell T Davies). The scene with the reality of the Channel crossing on the rubber raft and the aftermath on the beach was devastating.

Yes!

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 16/06/2022 15:28

And Lance’s death in Cucumber. I just couldn’t speak. We were watching it in the Mess Room and the silence was deafening. I was too shocked to cry.

Oh Lance....

clarepetal · 16/06/2022 17:27

I will never watch that again giggorata. Never.

Oh god, that traumatised an entire generation

doadeer · 16/06/2022 17:34

The end of Billy Elliot where the dad is in the audience and choked with emotion at Billy being the Swan lead.

Every. Single. Time.

Bumpsadaisie · 16/06/2022 17:35

In the series "Rev" when Father Adam (Tom Hollander) is at total rock bottom as his life as a vicar and his marriage have all collapsed - he walks up on a London heath and in a kind of "f**k it all" moment just starts dancing and singing "I am the Lord of the Dance Said He" and losing the plot.

An old tramp (Liam Neeson) comes up dressed in shell suit and can of special brew - and Father Adam's heart sinks as he thinks "oh no another crazy lost soul".

But he soon realises it isn't a tramp after all ...

'Come & see' bought tears to my eyes just reading about it!

I never watched Buffy but it sounds like a scene in city of angels where he becomes 'real' & cries.

Deep impact. I know it's a cheesy film but the bit on the beech where she holds her dad & says 'Daddy' & the bit where the mum gives her baby away & cries & the daughter says 'Ill see you soon', & then the mum & dad stand looking into each others eyes as the water heads for them, not caring, just loving each otherSad

(Basically the whole 2nd half of Deep impact!)
