Who is AJ?

Also, a very proud Lancastrian..

We work with schools. We were just laughing imagining the phone call to Kate from the school admin lady, tomorrow morning….’ Kate….why are the kids absent again…every Monday this happens our absence logs show it’s at the end of your busy weekends, the DfE aren’t going to be happy’….

We were also considering whether the Royal kids are classed as persistent absentees just as our poorer attenders are? 😉🤔😂

'they have a note from their great granny, if that's ok?' 😁

MIL thinks this is/was her big goodbye from the nation.

I too have a feeling that will be our last official sight of her. Sad

Why stop at one?

What happened to Harry & Meghan and their children - where they included?

I read somewhere that they were spending the day at Frogmore Cottage as it is Lily's 1st birthday.

There was a report that they were hosting a children's birthday party for their daughter and invited guests and watching along.

toomuchlaundry · 05/06/2022 18:54

Some schools have an extra day off tomorrow due to additional bank holiday being in half term. Other schools have added it to the summer holiday

RepublicOfNarnia · 05/06/2022 18:56

@DFOD The black presenter being slagged off by some posters?

Ah, that’s lovely. A first birthday is very special too. It was good to see Harry and Meghan being cheered. Hopefully the Queen got to spend some quality time with Archie and Lilibet.

Hearwego · 05/06/2022 18:58

I still think of the Queen as being in her 70s. And Charles in his 50s

But she’s in her 90s and he’s in his 70s. The Queen was 55 when I was born, a granny. I’m almost 40.

I feel so sad that times goes by so fast, it just hits you doesn’t it…

A famous quote ; time waits for no one.

Hearwego · 05/06/2022 18:59

Or was it time wait’s for no man ?!

Havehope21 · 05/06/2022 19:00

@FlyToTheSun actually, if you look at footage of them leaving the service, there were quite a few boos...

Oh that’s nice - the Queen was back out at Windsor over the weekend so I hope they all met up.

jubileetrain · 05/06/2022 18:28

Presumably George and Charlotte aren't back to school tomorrow like mine are

Why would they not be?

I'm not back tomorrow as my school has chosen Monday to be our extra bank holiday day.

Schools could chose when to use it. Many chose this Monday to make the half term/long weekend a bit longer. Others have added it at different points during the academic year.

They were plenty of cheers. 🙄

.... Anyway, hopefully they got to see the Queen and celebrate their child’s birthday too. How lovely. 💕

lollipoprainbow · 05/06/2022 19:09

Her latest statement was telling, wants to continue to serve with the support of her family. I wonder if she will become queen in name only and Charles and William will take on a lot more.

jubileetrain · 05/06/2022 19:10

@Abraxan

Mine aren't either but I'm in Scotland. I think I should have said why could they not be because I don't understand why they wouldn't be able to go to school tomorrow if school was on. Sure they have had a busy few days but it's hardly going to stop them being able to go to school.

Hearwego · 05/06/2022 19:19

Charles will continue with most Royal duties as will William. I think she’ll remain Queen in name only, perhaps attend a few events occasionally. Hi

DFOD · 05/06/2022 18:43

Who is AJ?

Presenter in short green dress who had a really loud voice and broad accent and was determined to be super cheerful and full of energy- talked over everyone she interviewed.

balletmuffin · 05/06/2022 19:29

How did the BBC get to cover the weekend and not ITV? After all, they had to apologise, more than once for their behaviour towards the royal family and in particular over Martin Bashir.

I am glad it wasn’t ITV though, imagine the advert breaks.

Fernticket · 05/06/2022 19:30

Really enjoyed what I saw of the pageant, especially Ed Sheeran's montage. Jenny Augutter and Twiggy were lovely. Lulu drove me nuts!
Loved this thread as well. Great fun.
Thanks Vipers☺️

She can't be Queen 'in name only'. She is the Monarch -can sack the PM, red boxes, weekly interview with PM, Head of Church of England. If she can not do those things a proper 'regency' will need to be put in place to allow Charles to do them. He can do visits, honours and things like that but not those things.

I feel really flat now :(
Bit depressed

Yes me too. I didn't think I gave much of a shit about it but I've actually really enjoyed the celebrations this weekend and it made me very emotional!

Tiaandchewy79 · 05/06/2022 19:58

Feeling very emotional.
Have a real sense that the end of an era is nearly over.
The balcony scene was so touching; everyone standing there must have felt that this was probably her last balcony moment.
The Queen looked so emotional when Anthem was sung; I’ve never seen it in her eyes before today.

Vapeyvapevape · 05/06/2022 20:06

The Queens smile seems to have changed
