Glad to see I wasn't the only one blubbing at the end. That stoic generation - just carrying on. So few of them left now. Flowers

Yep, back to the bad news and government woes !

And roll on (Absent) Fathers Day 😠

Antarcticant · 05/06/2022 18:07

Lots of newspaper comments about the sleeping woman already!

@intwrferingma my mum loved the bands and trooping the colour she would have been in her element watching this all weekend.

My nan would have too, she died a few weeks ago unfortunately. She loved it and would have loved to have watched it together

friendlycat · 05/06/2022 18:11

It’s been an amazing Jubilee Weekend. Today’s spectacle was fabulous. Yesterday’s concert was awesome in terms of the drones and lighting effects. Trooping the colour full of pomp and splendour.

I felt extremely emotional seeing the Queen looking glorious in her lovely green outfit on the balcony. Sadly it felt as though it was the last time to see her on the balcony and it felt all the more poignant for it.

Amazing organisational skills from everyone involved in putting together this Platinum Jubilee weekend. The weather was also kind as well.

woopdedoodle · 05/06/2022 18:12

Well that was a roller coaster.
High points Louis sitting on his Grandad's knee, and the sleeping woman!
Low point, totally shattered by the Queen's face when they sung the national anthem.

AnnaKar · 05/06/2022 18:18

gingercat02 · 05/06/2022 17:52

If George, Charlotte and Louis were mine I would run them ragged round KP gardens so they slept. They will be hyped to the 9's
Presumably George and Charlotte aren't back to school tomorrow like mine are

We work with schools. We were just laughing imagining the phone call to Kate from the school admin lady, tomorrow morning….’ Kate….why are the kids absent again…every Monday this happens our absence logs show it’s at the end of your busy weekends, the DfE aren’t going to be happy’….

We were also considering whether the Royal kids are classed as persistent absentees just as our poorer attenders are? 😉🤔😂

MrsMoastyToasty · 05/06/2022 18:24

I reckon it's a bittersweet time for the Queen. If it wasn't for the fact that her father died as a reasonably young man (he was 56) then she wouldn't have had such a long reign.

High points for me - the dragon puppet and the balloon dancing man.

Low points (not counting Lulu) - the '70s' Mr Whippy van gave out a lolly that didn't exist in the 70s; generally I didn't feel the buses represented my memories of the 70s onwards.

I was wondering if any of the brood had had the class bear over half term.....

Forinara · 05/06/2022 18:27

Our schools only does two-week long half terms.

Yes, the Duke of Windsor died in 1972, and he had no DC

Ok, if he had met and married someone else then perhaps he would have had heirs and she would never have been Queen. But if he hadn't, then this would be the Golden Jubilee year

Furries · 05/06/2022 18:28

I’m not a good multi-tasked when it comes to watching tv and posting. So I watched it all and then came to find a thread I knew would be here.

I loved ALL of it.

Bloody Ed and that montage had me reaching for the tissues, can’t believe I cried.

And I really want a giraffe costume. Though I’d maybe like to adapt it so that it’s a dinosaur diplodocus costume.

Feeling a bit flat now that it’s all over.

LuluBlakey1 · 05/06/2022 18:31

Who is AJ? Dreadful !
I was a bit weepy seeing The Queen. She has a smile that lights up her whole face. Lovely to see her.

maddiemookins16mum · 05/06/2022 18:38

MIL thinks this is/was her big goodbye from the nation.

JudgeJ · 05/06/2022 18:39

CandyLeBonBon · 05/06/2022 17:02

Why not?

Preferable to Dinah Ross last night, and it's the first time I've seen him, Ross reminded me one of those crinoline toilet roll covers that my late MIL liked to inflict on us!

the80sweregreat · 05/06/2022 18:39

Kudos to those clearing up and dismantling that stage. I hope they are on double time..

Hearwego · 05/06/2022 18:40

I thought Ed Sheeran played beautifully. Especially with the old footage in the background.

I felt a bit emotional seeing the Queen on the balcony whilst they played the National Anthem to her.

My late mother used to say that abdicating was the best thing he could have done for this country as it brought George VI then Elizabeth II to the throne.

Public schools often have longer holidays

LuluBlakey1 · 05/06/2022 18:42

Highs of the celebrations

  • ves HM The Quuen inspecting troops - just slipped onto balcony quietly HM enjoying the fly-past HM and Paddington HM at the end and her smile Trooping the Colour- excellent Kirsty Young Boos for Boris Ed Sheeran Eccentrics of Britain Love for HM Prince Louie being jiggled on Charles's knee Kate's outfits Special effects Some of the pageant- beautiful colours and other things Knitted lunch

-ves
AJ- awful
Lulu - painful
Rod Stewart - embarrassingly awful in every way
Cliff Richards - wax-faced moaner who wittered and clearly felt badly done too
Some of the singers last night- really poor voices live
Craig David- very strange
Stephen Fry and his ego
Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi - and his crush on Eugenie

Hearwego · 05/06/2022 18:43

It also felt that it is the last time we would see the Queen, on the balcony again for such a big occasion.
It does feel a bit final…

DFOD · 05/06/2022 18:43

Who is AJ?

DFOD · 05/06/2022 18:44

What happened to Harry & Meghan and their children - where they included?
