Lulu was once very rude to my FIL.

I'm bawling and I never cry same here 😭

I suspect she was determined to appear.
It's poignant, because it's her swansong.

I was there last night but we headed home before the pageant as my daughter was feeling a bit faint. We enjoyed St James park this morning, I had a lovely morning walk down the mall looking at those camping out. They were all in such high spirits. Never forget last night, was absolutely brilliant

Do you think she would have gone out if she'd chosen not to?
She's selected which events to take part in throughout the whole jubilee, including events in the run up all year. And she's chosen not to take part in several events, even where she has previously planned to be there.

Many elderly people of her generation are very stoic and will chose to do certain things that they feel they should. I'm quite sure it was her choice to go onto the balcony today.

And we don't know that she is 'very unwell' - it's more likely that she is simply very elderly. She is 96y after all, so likely to be getting slower in her movements, tiring quickly, getting out of breath easily, and appearing more and more frail as weeks and months go on.
