Well done Ed. Lovely man, lovely voice. 💕

I agree ! He did well

Is he a particular Royal fave?

He is a friend of the royals
Didn't he end up at A&E after being gashed with a sword at a party by either Beatrice or Eugenie.

eddiemairswife · 05/06/2022 17:38

I now tend to watch events on 601. It saves having to listen Huw Edwards (usually) explaining how someone's mother always polishes her son's shoes before he takes part in the parade.

lollipoprainbow · 05/06/2022 17:38

We were there last night too, fantastic atmosphere.

Charles has looked on the verge of tears several times and as if he has the weight of the world on his shoulders.

I thought this too. He's relatively recently lost his father and he's celebrating something that can only reinforce the age of his mother and he's taking her place because he takes over when she's dead. Then there are all these people showing their love for/appreciation for her which has to be nice but also pile on the pressure because how do you follow that?!

Honestly, total head fuck!

At least he's not worrying how to pay the leccy bill on top of it though. 😉

Completely agree with all of this.
I can't imagine the mixed up feelings of waiting for your parent to die in order to fulfil your destiny.

lollipoprainbow · 05/06/2022 17:42

Felt very emotional seeing her and cried, tears for my lovely mum too who is poorly. Not sure we will see her in public again and definitely not on the balcony.

Sparklingbrook · 05/06/2022 17:44

The Queen was aged 25 at her Coronation. Charles is already 73, it couldn’t be any more different could it?

the80sweregreat · 05/06/2022 17:48

My late dad died 98 and he adored the Queen
I was thinking of him this weekend too :
It was his generation.

12weekstoloseweight · 05/06/2022 17:48

The only reason we would ever have such a young and long reigning monarch again would be the result of a tragedy so really we should hope it doesn’t happen again. If that makes any sense.

Badger1970 · 05/06/2022 17:49

I think it's been wonderful that this weekend has been about HM's family as much as it has been about her reign.

They all face dramatic life changes before long. Charles has looked emotional all weekend, and he would be a terrible poker player as you can read his face very clearly.

Lulu is making me want to cry. With rage.

Lulu is insufferable - she thinks it’s all about her. She was the same the other night on (I think) The One Show - talking over the other guests, really rude, all “me me me”.

Exactly. And if Charles lives as long as his parents then Wills will be in his 60's before becoming king.

I know what you mean. My mum and dad died this year, and they'd have loved watching the whole of the weekend's events on the TV. They were real fans of the Queen and remember the coronation (tho they were teens in homes that couldn't afford TVs). The whole thing has made me a bit wistful

I bet those royal children are having an early night tonight.

Nothing lasts forever but what a life she’s had. That’s the only way I look at it.

If George, Charlotte and Louis were mine I would run them ragged round KP gardens so they slept. They will be hyped to the 9's
Presumably George and Charlotte aren't back to school tomorrow like mine are

lollipoprainbow · 05/06/2022 17:53

@intwrferingma my mum loved the bands and trooping the colour she would have been in her element watching this all weekend.

viques · 05/06/2022 17:53

Well I enjoyed that.good mix of nostalgia, daftness and fun. Loved all the puppetry, big and small, the skating, the dancing, the fabulous outfits. I can’t imagine how much organisation went on behind the scenes to get everyone dressed, fed, watered and in the right place to make it all happen. Thought it was good to see the Royals relaxed and laughing. Anyone else think there was a huge box of pick and mix on the floor by Princess Anne’s granddaughters? There was quite a bit of munching going on, I hope they sneaked a few handfuls down to the Cambridge kids too.

Vapeyvapevape · 05/06/2022 17:54

My parents are nearly as old as the queen, they really don't make them like that anymore.(my dad broke his wrist and took himself off to A&E on the bus) She may be frail but there's no way she would have made an appearance if she didn't want to .

the80sweregreat · 05/06/2022 17:55

I feel really flat now :(
Bit depressed

I don't think Prince Charles will be as popular as his mum ! He Might prove me wrong , but he'll have to win over a few hearts when he is King.
I don't envy him at all

I think he is lucky to have Camilla, people respond to her, and she has mellowed him more than a bit.

the80sweregreat · 05/06/2022 17:58

When she took over as Queen , Winston Churchill was in charge of the country : who will be there when she dies I wonder ?

Forinara · 05/06/2022 18:00

Oh well, back to war, viruses, sleaze and skyrocketing bills 😶

the80sweregreat · 05/06/2022 18:01

Yep, back to the bad news and government woes !

Sunnierdays · 05/06/2022 18:02

I couldn’t stop crying when Ed Sheeran was singing that song with the Queen’s pictures in the background. She’s been a truly amazing woman !
