The baby is Aunt Sarah's, isn't it? Pretty sure they referenced this in the first series.

SirChenjins · 04/05/2022 12:47

I thought it was Aunt Sarah's too Confused

youvegottenminuteslynn · 04/05/2022 12:52

The baby is definitely Erin's little sister as in the first episode Gerry mentions he and Mary have two daughters.

OverByYer · 04/05/2022 12:57

Yes Sr Michael in the car, so much in this episode.

Limer · 04/05/2022 13:03

Brilliant episode!

Being from Derry is "Punishment enough". Sr Michael in the De Lorean! Potential relationship between James & Erin will be interesting.

Now that the razor's been found, will Granda be clean-shaven next episode?

Cleebope2 · 04/05/2022 19:38

A lovely episode well made. Really spooky in the house! James is so lovely. ‘You’re not proper English then’ lol.

Nope, it's definitely Mary's and Gerry's.

My favourite of this series so far. I loved Michelle's reaction to Erin and James. And James saying he will wait. I just love James tbh.

EarringsandLipstick · 04/05/2022 23:28

It wasn't brilliant, but it redeemed the series somewhat!

The premise was so shaky as to be unbelievable. But the kiss was lovely & Michelle's reaction perfect

I balked a bit at the wild-looking Gaelgóirs (Irish speakers) as so implausible that they would only have spoken Irish, but still it was lovely to see Gaeilge incorporated into a programme like this.

Gerry .. always brilliant!

Yes the age gap between Erin and the baby bugs me with no more kids in between. Maybe the granda inhibited their sex life all those years. A family like theirs should gave about 4 kids though to be realistic!

Ah I don't know. I live in Derry and there's 12 years between me and my sister. They're just a normal family.

He was so sweet when he said 'I think you're beautiful' 😭

Cleebope2 · 05/05/2022 22:02

Erin is beautiful though her facial expressions distort her face a lot. They are all beautiful!

DressingGownofDoom · 06/05/2022 00:32

They are, Nicola Coughlan is absolutely gorgeous.

This last episode brought my Derry Girls love back. I'd had a stressful evening and watching it made me laugh out loud a lot and properly relax. Love Erin and James and really liked the medium storyline as well.

TottersBlankly · 06/05/2022 08:40

Have to say I also thought the portrayal of the ‘wild Irish’ was shockingly lazy. Am not Irish but I’d be furious if my heritage was misused like that. (Not that it hasn’t been, repeatedly, but this is the 21st century.)

I'm inclined to agree (am Irish). The idea of demented, raving Irish-speaking hermit-like creatures was quite ridiculous.

But I did like their Gaeilge & that it wasn't subtitled.

bibliomania · 06/05/2022 09:52

I'm Irish and I didn't mind it. I think I would have bridled a bit if it appeared in an English series, but given that it was created (reasonably) locally, I thought it was more an affectionate playing with stereotypes - in the same way that Goodness Gracious Me could have fun with portrayals that would have been unacceptable for white writers and actors to do.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 06/05/2022 10:02

I thought it was a good episode last night. I enjoyed it.

I liked hearing the Gaeilge too and would hope that people watching it would not take it too literally that there are wild Irish people without a word of English in their heads living in the outback of Co. Donegal. It was very farcical. I really liked Sr. Michael in that scene.

EarringsandLipstick · 06/05/2022 10:05

And actually Fuzzy I'm aware from a family member who worked as a doctor in Galway, there is still a small but significant, now older, population of Irish speakers in Connemara that have very little English. Even more interestingly, their Irish is really specific to their locality, and my family member with fluent Irish really struggled to understand.

Some of the stories weee brilliant!

I had no idea, EarringsandLipstick. That's fascinating. They should record those native speakers to keep a record of their dialect.

I have a bilingual friend who speaks Irish at home. I used to have to mentally prepare myself to phone her at home in case her Mum or Dad picked up the phone first :)

GregBrawlsInDogJail · 06/05/2022 10:20

The Kimberleys, man, the Kimberleys 😍

Everything about this show is my childhood brought to life. I adore it.

bibliomania · 06/05/2022 10:32

Kimberley, Mikado and Coconut Cream
Someone you love, would love some, mum!

I forgot this was on so only watched it last night. The best episode of this series. Loved the kiss and Michelle's reaction. The DeLorean👌and it was a touching moment with the red box & the razor at the end
