I don't think the fact that Hannah was the one who cheated is a reason for her not to be sad. If anything, it would add to her sadness knowing that she essentially caused a break-up that she doesn't want.

Fulmine · 12/04/2022 00:09

Is the concept of "nesting" a think with contact after divorces - i.e. when the NRP gets to go to see the children at their home while the RP stays out of the way? It sounds seriously gruesome. It's not as if Nathan is going to be stuck with taking the children to the park, surely he lives near enough for them to go to his house quite easily.

Fulmine · 12/04/2022 00:09

Sorry, I meant a thing, not a think.

LadyEloise1 · 12/04/2022 00:15

@midsomermurderess
It didn't make sense 🙄

BruceAndNosh · 12/04/2022 00:30

The whole book launch thing was weird.
Particularly since a book about how divorce affects children (and I assume how to mitigate the damage) is unlikely to be launched with the most divisive divorce lawyer hosting the event?
"yes of course I want to attend an event in honour of my STBXH's new pregnant girlfriend. Won't be awkward at all"

But I impressed by Hannah's multi pronged approach to getting hammered.
Start off with copious champagne, follow up with a couple of red wines, then neck a beer to make sure

Just to gently remind that in series 1, it was revealed (to the entire world, and the whole industry was going through all the names in the list in a bid to win business) that nathan had joined that website for hook ups. First he told Hannah that he only looked at images. She found a photo in his laptop of him in Brussels, challenged him about it, and he revealed that actually, yes, he had met up with someone but nothing happened. Then she instructed a PI to find out more, and the PI found out the woman’s name and address. And then Nathan revealed that he had slept with her. Nathan is no angel. No no no.

Obviously not in any way condoning Hannah shagging Christie the night before the wedding, or the affair in series 2, but the humiliation for Hannah professionally must have been so awful.

DameHelena · 12/04/2022 07:49

HalleLouja, I didn't recognise the scene mentioned in 'Kate was also remarkably insensitive when Nathan mentioned the family being upset at James' death.' but maybe I just wasn't paying attention!

It was so contrived that they'd all suddenly go to Kate's book launch. Or had time passed in the interim (it often seems to in this show) and they'd all met her/spent more time with her than we've seen?

So is Zander's boyfriend (husband?) planning to leave Zander for Nina?
And is Ruth's husband really a) going to leave her and b) wanting Hannah to be his divorce lawyer?
Neither of those scenarios are messy at all... Grin

I thought Lennie was going to be coming out as trans and that's why she wanted a divorce. Wonder if she'll be persuaded to stay/tell her DH about her illness?

Saw the 'IVF' baby thing coming. While I know Hannah telling him to be honest caused problems, I don't think she did the wrong thing in a way; as she said, it was a bomb just waiting to go off and it might have been even worse if discovered down the line.

I quite liked Nathan this episode, for not being wet for once and actually standing up to Hannah a bit. I do think she's got a nerve acting like the wronged party when it's her that's been cheating.
Having said that, I like Christie and want them to finally get together.

Yes, I believe nesting is a thing. I think the rationale is that while the children are having a hard time, seeing both parents in familiar surroundings where they feel safe is less disruptive.

I mentioned that upthread. Funnily enough, I used the same 'no angel' phrase about him Grin Although I'd forgotten he actually slept with someone Shock I thought he'd just been 'exploring' the site.
BruceAndNosh · 12/04/2022 08:11

How long do we think Tyler and Nina's affair has been going on?
They kissed last series when she was a couple of months pregnant.
This series you see them sleeping together after they've been to a addiction support meeting, was that meant to be the first time or do we assume it's been going on since before she had the baby?

And last series, Christie and Ruth discovered that Tyler was practising law in USA without a licence. But that's all forgotten?

LadyEloise1 · 12/04/2022 09:05

Thanks @WellTidy
I had forgotten about Nathan and the website in Series 1.

I thought them all at the book launch was daft. A real "suspend your disbelief" moment.

Oblomov22 · 12/04/2022 09:11

I couldn't believe Hannah's nerve. When she said about Nathan's narrative. She seems distraught. All those tears and woes, never bothered her when she was cheating with Christie did it?

RAOK · 12/04/2022 09:48

@midsomermurderess

They were at the book launch because the writers saw it as a great vehicle for drama.
Yes! 😂
PollyDarton1 · 12/04/2022 10:04

@DameHelena they were getting down with it in episode 1 very briefly.

PollyDarton1 · 12/04/2022 10:06

Just to remind me - Christie and Hannah go way back don't they, hence the shagging the night before the wedding. Did they meet at Uni?

midsomermurderess · 12/04/2022 10:23

They all, Nathan, Hannah and Christie, studied law together.

Oblomov22 · 12/04/2022 10:37

I bet you all : Nathan will give in and want to get back with Hannah. Christie will come back, and they'll both be fighting over Hannah. Which she doesn't deserve.

I can't work out what she has that makes her so desirable.
She barely says two words. I think that must be it. Wink She's emotionally damaged from her father relationship. Maybe that's why both men want to save her?

MissMarpleRocks · 12/04/2022 10:38

Does no one else find Christie creepy?? The character gives me the ick.

midsomermurderess · 12/04/2022 10:40

Nathan looks haunted. His future with Kate, and a new baby, this is not what he has seen this stage of his life looking like. He and Hannah have become so lost in their anger and sorrow with each other, it's hard to see any way back.

JellyBunny · 12/04/2022 10:45

Yes i think Christie was a bit icky this season.

I agree, I think he's regretting it but cannot leave Kate now with the baby. Incidentally, his excuse for not using contraception was the most laughable thing I've ever heard: he didn't have to think about it with Hannah, so he forgets to think about it with anyone else? Hmm
DameHelena · 12/04/2022 11:40
@DameHelena they were getting down with it in episode 1 very briefly.
Thank you. Think I remember that but not that they'd come from a meeting.

Clawdy · 12/04/2022 12:30

I don't find Christie creepy, but I don't find him likeable at all .

BruceAndNosh · 12/04/2022 12:54

Isn't that a spoiler? Don't think we've seen this in Eps 1 or 2.

Yes, in episode 1 of this series about 9 minutes in. You see Nina arrive (late) to a meeting and Tyler look surprised and happy to see her. Then it cuts to them in her flat snogging the moment they get in the door. The sex is implied not seen, but there is some covert finger touching going on in the coffee room at work later, and Tyler admits he was late home...
I haven't watched ahead as I don't trust myself with spoilers!

A580Hojas · 12/04/2022 13:59

Like others on this thread, the thing I could NOT get over last night was the preposterous scenario of the entire family going to Nathan's new girlfriend's book launch. Wtaf? I'm afraid I couldn't suspend my disbelief over that - it's utterly stupid. Infact, why does the whole family have to do everything together all the time? I'd hate to be stifled in a family like that.

Quite like angry Nathan though - had enough of Hannah and her self pitying nonsense.
