I hope we see Nicola and Stephen in other things too. They make a good couple. Stephen was great in episodes with Matt Leblanc.

thenightsky · 09/04/2022 23:07

Kate looks too old to get pg. I say that as a 63 yr old myself. I reckon Kate is 50.

KillingMeDeftly · 10/04/2022 07:20

The actress is 41 and the character about 39 so hardly too old to get pregnant!

LadyDP · 10/04/2022 07:49

@flyingdream
Yes agreed, I loved SM in Episodes. Loved everything about Episodes. Would love to be able to watch it all again.

LadyDP · 10/04/2022 07:50

Kate's not daft is she? spotted him coming a mile off

MissMarpleRocks · 10/04/2022 07:55

I cannot decide whether I dislike Christie or Kate more. Those two deserve each other so I think they should sail into the sunset together & leave Hannah & Nathan to sort things out. Neither want a divorce IMO.

I thought Hannah, Nathan, Christie & Kate we’re all late 40s! 😅
BrokenNHS · 10/04/2022 09:19

were

Rollergirl11 · 10/04/2022 09:36

I think Hannah, Nathan & Christie are all the same age and meant to be late 40’s. Isn’t Kate meant to be a bit younger?

I think the eldest daughter Liv that’s got engaged looks deathly ill. I almost can’t bear to watch her on screen.

KillingMeDeftly · 10/04/2022 11:02

IRL the actress playing Nina is the youngest of the actresses and Nicola Walker is a good 13/14 years older than her and the Rose actress. Not sure if the age gap was meant to be the same on the show.

MichaelAndEagle · 10/04/2022 15:31

In series 1 when the dad first comes back they talk about the ages they were when he left and I think there was quite a difference with Rose being a baby.

DoctorMarten · 10/04/2022 19:11

@Loopytiles

Annoying, lazy TV cliche: kill an ethnic minority or gay character to add ‘drama’.
Yes. I hated that. Kill the brown guy. 🙄
BrokenNHS · 10/04/2022 23:18

Yes. I hated that. Kill the brown guy. 🙄

Wow. I really don’t agree with that at all.

They killed off one of the most likeable characters - a kind, patient, loving, funny, thoroughly decent man. One of the few characters the viewer would also grieve for.
It’s painful to watch everyone get on with their life whilst Rose was stuck in limbo.
It’s a good storyline. I don’t think anyone thought let’s get rid of the ‘brown guy’ at all.

confusedlots · 11/04/2022 00:34

I only discovered this series last week when I happened to sit down and turn on tv and the first episode of the new series was starting. Tonight I have just watched the first 3 episodes of the first series back to back and am in tears at the end of the 3rd episode, I very rarely get into a series like I've done with this. I just want to keep watching but unfortunately I really need to get to bed!

Clawdy · 11/04/2022 08:21

"Kill the brown guy!" ?? Anyone seriously believe that? All casting is now diverse as it should be, and it's far more likely the actor had other things on board, so they had to write him out after one episode.

Such a ridiculous comment.

DoctorMarten and Loopytiles You might want to look at this.
Funnily enough the actor was busy filming elsewhere 🙄

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wakefield_(TV_series)

The eight-part series was filmed in 2020, at a number of locations in Australia: Sydney; the Blue Mountains; a New South Wales (NSW) northern rivers cane farm near Murwillumbah with Mt. Warning as a backdrop; and Southern Highlands of NSW

BrokenNHS · 11/04/2022 08:54

That should say ‘Such a ridiculous comment from DoctorMarten and Loopytiles

Not you Clawdy! I agree with you!

Clawdy · 11/04/2022 08:59

Only watched the first but I think some of you are discussing Ep 2; has it been on yet? I'll avert my eyes from the Ep 2 bits Grin

Kate is infuriating. And no mention of what impact working DADS might have on their kids; it's all about the mothers. Hmm I have to wonder what position she'll take as a professional when she has her baby.

Spectacularly stupid of Nathan to invite Kate to that dinner before having told Hannah about the baby. I know she was the one who cheated, but I really think she's better off without him. Remember him being caught 'exploring' on that dating site for married men? He's no angel.
Christie is hot and Hannah should go off into the sunset with him IMO.
Pity about James. I like the idea that the woman at the end (who did give Rose a very significant look) will be the wife of the man who needs a heart and he will get James’s heart.

I don't find Ruth's podcast that convincing. And how she just pops up doing at home, then at work... Will it continue without James, I wonder? He seemed to be 'teching' for it.

Nice threads this episode, I thought.

I don’t think there are any peeks for episode 2.

I think there is another thread for people binge watching. By some amazing will power, I have only watched episode 1. Will watch episode 2 tonight.

Oof! Episode 2 was heavy.
Ruth wins the Tactless Comment of the Year calling Nathan her favourite son in law at the funeral of her other son in law

I missed that. Ouch.

Kate is definitely insufferable.

Ha! I missed that Grin

Bloody hell, the parting shots in Melanie's office. I didn't think this amicable divorce was going to last. But I do think Nathan is pushing for this less because he wants it and more because he thinks it's the right thing to do with Kate on board.

I know Hannah was the architect of a lot of what happened and the split but the raw emotion she shows when she's upset really gets me. I'm 7 months post split with my ex DP (no cheating, he was just a dick) and that all too familiar wave of grief when you realise what you don't have anymore hits you - I really identify with that. Can't help feeling sorry for her, even with the Christie thing Blush

SM though Halo

LadyEloise1 · 11/04/2022 23:50

Can someone explain to me why the whole family were at the book launch ?

I agree re the Tactless Comment of the Year. I thought it was very odd.

Why is Hannah so sad the marriage has failed, she was the one who cheated Hmm

midsomermurderess · 11/04/2022 23:54

They were at the book launch because the writers saw it as a great vehicle for drama.
