Wednesday BBC1 at 9pm for anyone interested. I really enjoyed the last series.

I guess they re-do them afterwards using professional decorators.

LemonViolet · 17/03/2022 08:32

And the three they’ve got rid of includes Banjo’s? Interesting!

Looking at those pics
Dean’s black room was relying a lot on the colourful bedding. Now it’s plain white hotel bedding a lot of the zing is gone. Maybe they should have had to incorporate that into the design to be more realistic.

Looks like they’ve scrapped Rochelle’s window and kept the ceiling colour and headboard/curtains (which I didn’t even remember from the show, nor that lovely chaise longe!). I like the colour choices of raspberry and olive though. It looks a lot better there than it did on the show.

The shape of Molly’s headboard has been re-done. So much plain wall/ceiling in that room, wasted opportunity to bring that in to the design there.

The “antiqued” mirrors on Amy’s headboard look like there’s been a fire at some point. Sorry!

And please hotel move that wardrobe plonked in front of the wallpaper in Paul’s room!

So they scrapped Peter’s, Banjo’s and Abi’s. The three that made fundamental MDF-based design features in their rooms - maybe that’s something to do with what stayed and what was kept. Peter and Banjo’s also had the most dramatic colour choices.

SoupDragon · 17/03/2022 09:21

I do remember the chaise longe but not the headboard (which might have been lost against the fake window I guess)

I do think Amy over did the antiquing of the mirrors. I like an old "foxed" mirror but less would have been more I think.

Peter and Abi had the most "tat" scattered about too.

I wonder if the MDF failed the fire safety requirements?

LadyEloise1 · 17/03/2022 09:53

Looking at the hotel's website the bedrooms look far more restful admittedly more bland than the contestant's rooms.
I'd like to visit, it looks lovely.

LemonViolet · 17/03/2022 10:17

I do love a bit of tat Grin.

MO doesn’t!

SoupDragon · 17/03/2022 10:26

Oh, me too. I'm not sure too much tat works in a hotel setting though.

Puffalicious · 17/03/2022 11:09

Just caught up. Poor Peter. Either of the other two should have gone. Rochelle's was cheap looking- wish she would stop with the snivelling, own it- and Abi's was awful with that fake wisteria, off centre feature wall and crappy side tables.

Mind you, Amy's room was equally shit. The wallpapers did not clash in a good way at all- the poppy one was fowl. I LOVE Banjo- drunk botanistSmile

longtompot · 17/03/2022 11:19

I think it's unfair for the contestants to redesign a whole room in two days, especially with the tight budgets they have as they end up having to make things. I'd love to see a pro one alà Pro Masterchef but with the same timing and budget the amateurs have.
I think Abi should have gone. Peter's was ott but he did have good ideas. It's a shame he didn't run with the subtle Alice in Wonderland theme that was peeking through it all. His doorknob headboard though! Couldn't he have found some buttons?

SoupDragon · 17/03/2022 12:21

Or something like No More Nails to stick the panels up with.

Good idea!

Funnily, when they said British eccentric I immediately thought of books like Beatrix Potter, Alice Inn Wonderland or The Famous Five.

Berbie · 17/03/2022 16:28

I don't watch the programme myself, but I'm on the hunt for a wallpaper that appeared recently - I don't know which episode :-(
It's described as a design for a child's room, with a fairground theme and the child's name printed on one of the fairground rides. I've tried googling it, without success!

ouch321 · 17/03/2022 16:42

I would have done Wedgewood as a theme.

Squeekyturtle · 17/03/2022 16:49

Complete travesty sending Peter home after saying last week that it had to be about design and not just decoration. Peter was the only designer who did that this week I thought his bookshelves were brilliant ! The other 2 were shit !

charliewoodstock · 17/03/2022 16:56

I'm a print designer and interior design masters is such a hate watch for me.

I really like Banjo and think he's very talented. That geometric wallpaper in the first episode was like something you'd buy from B&M 2 years ago. Absolutely awful!

PriamFarrl · 17/03/2022 17:44

I liked the two dark rooms, but then I like dark rooms in general.

LemonViolet · 17/03/2022 18:31

I was thinking I’d love to see a pro one!

Or even a celeb-pro one - all the usual faces that present and judge these shows!

nancy75 · 17/03/2022 18:45

I dread to think what professional decorators would say about the state of it all - that would definitely have to be post watershed!
awaynboilyurheid · 17/03/2022 19:17

I like Banjo, loved the drunk botanist story.
Felt sorry for Peter didn’t think his was the worse design
Still scared of Michelle she’s terrifying, last week she said sneering,
oh my eyes!
and the other judge was like , yes it’s nice and bright!

LemonViolet · 17/03/2022 19:34

I’d like to see Michelle design something tbh. Is she actually a designer herself? She’s an editor of a design magazine, but there not really the same thing.

cameocat · 17/03/2022 21:25

I also thought Abi should go, she didn't provide any design, just platic Wisteria and that awful pink bulldog. The Wisteria can be fun in the right place but a historic country hotel?

I hope Rochelle finds confidence.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 17/03/2022 21:33

What I think is unfair is that they have to do the design and buy all their materials in advance and if they fuck something up then they don’t seem to be able to just nip out and buy something else.

nameychange · 17/03/2022 21:35

They do pro version in the USA where they transform a whole house called rock the block although that’s more of a makeover to make the most money on redesigning the house but it’s good. Think there’s been two series

LemonViolet · 17/03/2022 21:48

A pro version where we get to vote online each week who gets to stay, like strictly or xfactor. Highly impractical obvs!
