Does anyone know what wallpaper fram used?

SuitcaseOfWhine · 18/03/2022 12:44

@nancy75

The decorators they get on this are dreadful. My dad is a commercial decorator (they do actually decorate hotel rooms) and he would go nuts at that standard of work - they’d all be doing it again!
There is one of them that doesn't seem to have much sense of urgency and they are always decorating the one of the bigger/ biggest room (recall last year with Charlotte). The contestant always end up really stressed.
SoupDragon · 18/03/2022 15:22

To be fair, the decorators don't have anywhere near enough time to do a proper job.

jay55 · 18/03/2022 18:36

Are brushes/rollers etc something that has to come out the budget or do the decorators bring them?

covetingthepreciousthings · 18/03/2022 20:29

In previous series the majority of the contestants have blogged their journey on the show. Rather disappointingly only Banjo seems to have a blog this time and it's not got many inside details.

I loved reading the other blogs about the exact briefs, the budgets and timescales, it was a great insight.

I wonder if they were warned against it this time?

I'm pretty sure they're provided and don't need to be accounted for in the budget.

I was a bit confused by Paul saying he manages large groups of people in his day job, but isn't he a visual merchandiser? I might just have the job description wrong, but isn't that someone who dresses windows and displays in stores? Are there any stores that have large teams of people for that? Or is he just a supervisor of store assistants in Primark with a creative sounding job title? He does very much have a retail managers personality.

Some brands have large visual merchandising teams who go from shop to shop redoing the layout, quite a lot of planning goes in to it.

I read that in a nice cutting pass ag tone Grin like something a modern day Dowager Countess would say (Downton Abbey)!

@Berbie

I don't watch the programme myself, but I'm on the hunt for a wallpaper that appeared recently - I don't know which episode :-( It's described as a design for a child's room, with a fairground theme and the child's name printed on one of the fairground rides. I've tried googling it, without success!
I think you must be confusing Thai with a different programme. There have only been 2 episodes so far in this series and neither have featured a child’s room.
HaveringWavering · 19/03/2022 08:25

Confusing this!

HaveringWavering · 19/03/2022 08:26

Leter was definitely the wrong choice to go. It should have been window lady, who seemed lovely but just wasn’t up to it. Peter’s library should have saved him- it was great design. Really shocked though to see from the link posted upthread that he’s straight!

LemonViolet · 19/03/2022 12:00

Well, he has a female partner, doesn’t mean he’s straight Smile

BonnesVacances · 19/03/2022 19:30

@LemonViolet Banjo has posted on the IG page for the show that they kept all the rooms but his and two others are having the bathrooms redone so they aren't showing on the website at the moment.

SuitcaseOfWhine · 19/03/2022 19:48

That would make sense then. I can definitely see him doing that. I do think he will be one of those people you where you roll your eyes a bit in the beginning but you grow to like his character in the end. He needs to collaborate a bit better though!

I didn't really like Peters designs much if I am being honest, but he seem lovely, so was sad to see him go. Nobody stands out for me at this stage, but I have probably preferred Fran and Banjo's stuff more. Not keen on all of the peach and pink though. Linda Carter from EE would love it all. Shame she isn't judging.

Oh that's good news!

dillite · 20/03/2022 09:36

I really liked Banjo's and Dan's??? (Can't remember his name) rooms. They looked the most coherent. That Van Gogh wallpaper was gorgeous too.

I think it's unfair that Rochelle had to carry on with a mouldy room. None of what she did will have stuck, surely? Her glass door was stupid though- and pretty much a copy of what was dine at the hairdressing studio last year.

lollipoprainbow · 20/03/2022 23:03

No way should Peter have gone. Surely it should have been Abi ? The mis measurement for the bed, the hideous plastic flowers and ghastly bulldog both of which Michelle had said she didn't like. Peter himself admitted he needed to reign it in a bit so why wasn't he given another chance ?

longwayoff · 21/03/2022 09:45

The most basic requirement of any design is that it fulfils the purpose for which it is intended. Nobody can safely sleep in a bed with bloody doorknobs sticking out of the headboard. Gone. Properly gone.

That would be fair enough if that had been the reason given for sending him home.
lollipoprainbow · 21/03/2022 17:02

@HaveringWavering exactly !!

SoupDragon · 21/03/2022 17:15

You could sleep safely in a bed with a knobby headboard but you'd struggle to sit up and lean back.

longwayoff · 21/03/2022 18:12

I look forward to seeing the knobby headboard in production, I expect it will sell thousands and maybe set a new trend. Who wants to lean back on a headboard anyway? Who needs comfort when you can have cutting edge style?

SoupDragon · 21/03/2022 18:37

It could be a massage headboard...?
