Wednesday BBC1 at 9pm for anyone interested. I really enjoyed the last series.

@SoupDragon

Amy didn't stand a chance of collaborating with him.
I agree.

I think her heart just sank getting paired with him. I wish they’d sent him home for being a complete dick.

Looking forward to next week

Cocolapew · 10/03/2022 19:12

I've just caught up, the chipboard kitchen thing was a horror Shock
Fireplace painting man deserved to go for the short curtains alone.

Cattenberg · 10/03/2022 20:01

I felt sorry for Richard. And there were some things about his room I liked. I read that he went on to paint a mural for Joe Lycett, so that’s some consolation.

SoupDragon · 10/03/2022 20:50

Why were the curtains short?? Why on earth would anyone think that looked good?

longtompot · 10/03/2022 22:33

Richard's room was so very far from his Insta page, where they are vibrant and fun. His room was flat, and those curtains?! Glad he went, though I would have preferred Paul to go with his I MUST have this teal not wallpaper in the office. I hope Amy does start to speak up for herself a bit more, but she appears to just seethe and not say anything.
Anyway, glad it's back as I love it, and one of our local shops is redesigned on it (and I think it looks good in person).

callingon · 10/03/2022 22:55

I love watching this as it’s the one programme based on a hobby/skill where I genuinely think I could do better than the people who’ve made it onto it. Then again I think they must be working to a small budget and not being able to see the space before you arrive must be tricky.

I was on the point of buying a round mirror for my house but after seeing one in almost every shot of tonight’s episode I’m going to reconsider 😂

Winniewonka · 10/03/2022 23:23

@Cattenberg - Just caught up tonight. I think Paul also said he was a team leader and Matthew Williamson politely put pay to that remark. I've always liked MW plus he has beautiful eyes.

BonnesVacances · 11/03/2022 08:58

Yes I developed a bit of a crush on MW in the first episode. Maybe it was seeing him in his hometown of Manchester.

Davros · 11/03/2022 14:14

I'm just watching so haven't read the thread but omg, non-stop green and peach, various shades.

LemonViolet · 12/03/2022 08:30

Signing in! Caught up with this last night. Will have to try and remember to watch it on time next week Smile

I can’t remember them all yet either, but thought the cocky chap with the leather jacket should have gone, for that awful wallpaper and being a dick to the print woman, although she didn’t really help herself.

I liked the one that did the OSB unit, although I didn’t like the uni itself, she has good ideas and a good eye.

I thought it quite a shame that the twinky guy went, although the length of those curtains was all wrong and his room was unexciting, it looked like he could have done a lot better, It seemed maybe MO and MW were a bit anti him because of his Insta-ness?

Didn’t really care for the monochrome green room, it needed more contrast.

I loved the palm wallpaper and teal room with the swivelly mirrors by the punk hairdresser. I think him and the OSB woman are the ones to watch so far.

absolutelynotfabulous · 12/03/2022 09:10

Porn Tache Paul would have been very difficult to collaborate with I reckon.

I think the right person went this week. Getting the curtains wrong was an elementary error.

I liked some of the ideas but I guess at this stage it's more about collaborative skills than actual design (or practicality).

I loved the swivelly mirror and although I didn't much like the kitchen unit as such I thought the idea was sound.

I also liked the room that Michelle thought was "dull". To me it was cohesive and smart! No accounting for taste...

Roll on next week. Smile

LemonViolet · 12/03/2022 09:18

I think I’ve posted this before but I loved Sarah Beeny’s opinion on taste Grin

I think there were a few people who could easily have gone but I think Short Curtain Guy was the right choice. His room just lacked that "something".

bonfireheart · 12/03/2022 16:11

I kept watching the show thinking how they were making every room look worse and wondering what happens once the episode is over? Do tradespeople come and rip it all out, or are the rented out with thar hideous decor? Does the decor mean they are now worth less?

LadyEloise1 · 12/03/2022 17:12

As @bonfireheart says, I too wondered what they do when the episode is over. Do tradespeople come in and change it back to a more bland but nicer interior, more suited to a high end rental ?

Maireas · 12/03/2022 17:23

It'll all have to be changed back. You couldn't sell or rent it looking like that. Plus it's all done very quickly, so I suspect not a great finish!

rosegoldwatcher · 12/03/2022 19:17

Love this show!

That fractured navy wallpaper was atrocious and definitely not any shade of teal.
Three-quarter length curtains are an aberration, even made in velvet.

Liked the schemes put together by the young dark haired girl and the older man.

NB - I love a painterly floral. (I'll get my coat!)

Cattenberg · 13/03/2022 11:31

I suspect it’s all done on a very low budget too, hence the chipboard furniture and charity shop accessories.
Puffalicious · 13/03/2022 11:42

I just watched the other night (blasted DC and clubs delayed watching of one of my fave programmes). My sis and I WhatsApp through this series every year. She knew I'd watch later and just put 'There's a total dick. You'll spot him in 10 minutes flat'. ie Paul. I wanted to throttle him, arrogant dick.

Oh I do love it.

LemonViolet · 15/03/2022 08:04

@MrsMoastyToasty

A quick Google reveals that Banjo's real name is Brendan. I'm not sure why they filmed his opening scene at a cafe (the large conservatory) on Mull rather than his own house. We have family connections on Mull and know that location well .
More googling reveals it’s his workplace, so he probably did all the styling there.
Cameron2012 · 15/03/2022 08:30

Peter looks like an adorable owl.

SoupDragon · 15/03/2022 08:44

He does!

Evening design fans. God knows what we'll see as they're let loose on a historic building.....

Maireas · 16/03/2022 21:10

Evening, style fans! Interesting challenge.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 16/03/2022 21:13

Checking in (sorry but it is hotel week)

The place is stunning but the rooms are so disappointingly cheap hotel looking.
