Utter twaddle
Why is selling your home out from under your wife and children and go through all that madness to the tune of £2million a better option than just going to the police

And why kill the bloke behind it when you can prove with the texts the whole crazy scenario and so theres no need to cover it up

Crackers

This is total rubbish. Makes no sense at all how the action plays out. I have read the book - made more sense - although I think Louise Candlish's book have a very kind of addictive qualities. main character's are very irritating, the plots aren't great but they always go on about neighbours and house prices, and competitive school mums: a bit like motherland without the humour - and I always feel a bit sick at the end of them, but they obviously fulfil a need...

Was Merle's baby Brams ?

LadyEloise1 · 01/04/2022 11:42

@Blondeshavemorefun
Do we know if Bram is the father of Merle's baby ?
As usual I'm late to the party as we didn't get to see it til after it was screened in the UK and I didn't binge watch.

Towards the end Fi thanks Merle for helping her and wonders why she is so kind to her. Merle glances down at her baby bump, Fi sees that and they hug.
That's why I thought perhaps it was Bram's baby.

So disappointing, had a feeling it would be as soon as I saw who they'd cast as Fi and Bram, just the wrong choice of actors for me. Bram in the book came across totally differently to me, older and more burnt out, a middle aged selfish loser who wrecked his family (and yet there was a loveable rogue element to his character, which I remember came across in the chemistry between him and Fi) I didn't get any chemistry between them in the tv version, and although I really like MC as an actor, he just wasn't the right person to play Bram imo. Just didn't feel authentic, but nothing about it did. Fi was annoying in the book as well, definitely older though, TM looked too young and was too clipped and prissy.

I really enjoyed the book and might re-read it once I've forgotten the exact ending again! One benefit of ageing! The TV series was a total flop for me, I recommend the book!
