I think it showed them emptying the house in the dark. Possibly middle of the night.

In answer to where their stuff is Fi saw an invoice for a storage unit.

What was the point of the woman boss? Maybe to throw us off track.

I wanted there to be a good twist.

Is Bram dead?

What did someone mean earlier re the death of the girl was fake? I'd read that before I'd finished.! Thought it meant Mike had hacked Brams photo and there was no child involved.

I too thought he would have hidden a message in the spelling book or photograph.

How could he watch Fi go away with Mike for the weekend knowing he was using her?

How did they know Bram was a banned driver?

Why were there so many dirty marks where the photos had been?

Where did they find Brams phone?

goteam · 11/03/2022 14:13

Terrible ending. I assumed they were going to lure Wendy into the flat and stab her to make it look like a murder / suicide with Fi saying she had returned to the flat to find them there. That would have been better. Instead we get what should have been Bram redeeming himself but inadvertently revealing his wife fo be Mike / Toby's killer. Rubbish.

SydneyCarton · 11/03/2022 14:18

Is it clear in the book that she means to kill Mike with the drugged wine? Or did she just want to knock him out so she could get away and presumably tell the police/get her boys? She might get away with manslaughter and a light sentence (no previous convictions, good character, sole carer for children, victim of fraud etc).

Agree that it's totally preposterous that no one actually asks the questions or does the things that normal people would do in real life, like go to the police or tell Fi that Toby is dodgy or check the bloody account details when pulling off a financial scam Hmm

louise5754 · 11/03/2022 14:50

I can't be arsed to watch a 4-6 parter for it to end like the rest!!

ilovebrie8 · 11/03/2022 16:25

Not a good ending, Bram dead and Fi in custody for murder...albeit due to Bram's letter which sealed her fate...otherwise she may have go off with killing Mike/Toby...thought it was going to be a happily ever after and she'd meet Bram abroad...disappointed...
@TheArtfulBlogger in the book merle or other neighbours do question why he’s got removals people in and he explains it as he’s getting the house redecorated as a surprise while she’s away so to keep it quiet.
Ah thanks for that!

Gilmorehill · 11/03/2022 19:41

I’m sure in the book that Fi got Merle to help her dispose of the body.

Knittingnanny2 · 11/03/2022 19:54

@Gilmorehill I’ve a vague recollection of that too, I’ll reread the last chapter

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/03/2022 20:41

@Gilmorehill

So no body to tie her to

No police to lie to that sge doesn’t know him

No, it happens as it did on screen. But Fi goes out and gets Merle to come back to the flat with her, so they leave Mike there in his own puke and return later and then call an ambulance and the police. She tells the police she thinks it is someone Bram knows but she doesn't know him herself.

The book also doesn't show Bram topping himself, just preparing to do so, planning what music he will play - he plans to use drink and pills to top himself with.

Watching the Gogglebox take on this Grin

WomblingWilma · 11/03/2022 22:01

Just finished watching this. The ending left a very bad taste in my mouth.

I assume the premise was that even though the wife forgave the husband for cheating before, tried to be amicable and put the kids first after he betrayed her again with her friend playing the MH card as an excuse, he still destroyed her, took her and her kids home from under them and ultimately stitched her up for murder which again she only did to protect her kids and because he got her involved in that due to his own disgusting behaviour, (he started the road rage incident) while he took the easy way out.

The woman was the victim of the man as usual.

WomblingWilma · 11/03/2022 22:11

And she still tried to protect him by not going to the police immediately to report Mike/Toby for threatening her kids/blackmail and that her husband caused the accident that killed the little girl. Better to kill him instead!

Stupid woman!

The Times tv reviewer yesterday said the best thing about it was Rupert PJ in his tight underpants!
She’s got to be on mumsnet

I still wouldn't though ( he wouldn't either !)

mycatisannoying · 13/03/2022 08:10

I grew up out Glasgow way, and let me tell you that a Glaswegian schoolkid named Bram would have a life not worth living Grin

Justletmelogon · 13/03/2022 08:29

I gave up after 2nd episode but was persuaded to continue fir the twist.
I was disappointed by the ending too.
Also agree with pp about the dark miserable looking house, a lick of magnolia would've spruced it right up Grin
And the wooden acting from Fi , awful actress.

I just hope Bram is a good swimmer. Grin

dottydodah · 13/03/2022 08:39

Started off well! Seemed improbable to me though .How would Wendy /Mike know Bram was banned driver ? Also seemed an unlikely pairing .Wendy /Mike I mean .

FloraFoxx · 13/03/2022 08:57

'How would Wendy /Mike know Bram was banned driver ?'

I think we're to presume it was random rather than targeted. They goad people into road rage incidents and see what happens. Just reckless, opportunistic con people.

BruceAndNosh · 13/03/2022 09:09

When Bram and Wendy had their one night stand, I just assumed her weird voice was because she was drunk or stoned. Then found she spoke the same when sober!

EarringsandLipstick · 13/03/2022 09:09

How does Toby/Mike know about Bram cheating on Fi back in uni?

@zafferana

Bram tells Wendy when he first sleeps with her.

EarringsandLipstick · 13/03/2022 09:14

I binge-watched it all & regretted it. So many of these dramas are pure rubbish.

Agree with the comments about no chemistry between Tuppence & Martin, that she doesn't fit in with the friendship group at all (and they are all v annoying), and it's really ridiculous that she'd have said nothing about Merle shagging her husband, for the sake of the kids' / her friendships, and that she'd put up with Merle being utterly annoying as she tries to make up.

But I hated the ending for the poor kids, the scene towards the end where one of the boys asks with a sob, when will he see Daddy again? Really got to me.
