It was a brilliant book!

the80sweregreat · 10/03/2022 22:19

They could have said ' it's all a dream ' and Bram could have come back to life to claim his house and tree back
They would have done this in a soap

Jux · 10/03/2022 22:19

What was that, Papergirl?

the80sweregreat · 10/03/2022 22:19

What's the film ?

Clawdy · 10/03/2022 22:22

Obviously Bram had no idea she would kill Mike, or he would never have mentioned him. Pity. I did hope she would get away with it. What was the last line in the book, someone said it was a real twist??

the80sweregreat · 10/03/2022 22:23

Poor Fi
Those prison clothes will be a come down from silk and nice dresses

Papergirl1968 · 10/03/2022 22:24

Stalked By My Teacher - about a cheerleading coach who gets obsessed with a student's father! Typical channel five afternoon fodder. Hmm

the80sweregreat · 10/03/2022 22:27

Channel five , they start the cheesy Christmas films in September or October !! Lol
They do have some corkers on there.

Honeyroar · 10/03/2022 22:42

@the80sweregreat

Rupert has a lovely body , but i still wouldn't ! Really not for me !! 😂
I agree!

Kind of a lot of lucky chances in the scam!!1

MurderAtTheBeautyPageant · 10/03/2022 22:55

So many plot holes.
They should have given them more impressive jobs to make their owning a £2m house even semi believable
No chemistry between Bram and Fi
How did Mike and the evil goblin knew he fled the scene
Do they just hang around waiting for hit and runs
The ending seemed way too bleak
At least Fi will have plenty of £££ for a top notch lawyer

Pro - I liked her clothes

I can objectively see that RPJ is good looking but he doesn't do it for me.

Missushbb · 10/03/2022 23:04

@Emmas85

I obviously over think things 😂 I was convinced the photo frame and spelling book were his message to her to meet him there! Wasn't the place in the photo the place he walked into the water? I was sure he had hidden a note in the spelling book in some sort of code haha! Need to lower my hopes I think!
i thought this too!! i thought there was something in the photo frame. i'm getting mixed up with another show or book, now trying to remember what that was! as always, the audience comes up with better plots that what actually happens!

They've been on in July!

Meh. They all deserved that ending. Serves them right for not finishing conversations with each other earlier on.

Ah well, with all that money hopefully those boys will be able to have a bedroom each now. They went from same bedroom to same bed.

friendlycat · 10/03/2022 23:13

Personally I thought the best bit of the whole 4 night episodes was seeing RPJ in his underpants.

I want to know this too!
Knittingnanny2 · 10/03/2022 23:21

I’ll reread it and let you know!

Underwhelmed

Yep, that was a highlight for me too! Although I couldn't get used to him being the villain after being Adam in Spooks.
bumblenbean · 10/03/2022 23:37

Totally preposterous but I enjoyed it!

I missed the bit of the episode when Fi gave up and left the house - was it basically just agreed the new couple would stay there and that was that? Surely if it was a fraudulent transaction it would be null and void?! But then I guess new couple would be screwed if the transaction was ‘reversed’ - so if bram hadn’t got the money the bank would surely have had to reimburse Fi. Or probably a negligence claim against the solicitor who was obviously shite at the due diligence checks!!

Pretty unconvincing that RPJ/ weird woman didn’t double check the account details entered on the paperwork - pretty crucial aspect of the scam!

I also don’t get how RPJ and weird woman set up the crash so perfectly - how did they know he’d be there, how did they know someone would crash and die and as others said they too would be implicated so how could they dob him in without screwing themselves? Did they know he was banned? Why did they specifically target bram and fi?!

And how did RPJ know he’d be able to woo Fi- was that just a happy coincidence / way to fuck with bram more? The affair was strictly necessary for the fraud surely …

Surely if Fi explained the whole sorry story she’d get a lenient sentence - she could argue she didn’t mean to actually kill him and was worried he’d kill her when she knew he was on his way…

I’m definitely over thinking this 😬

As he walks to the internet café, he thinks how funny it would be if he found the place closed down, forcing him to search for another, bringing him back into contact with humanity, happenstance, a last chance at life. It is open. Exactly as planned, he is less than five minutes at the computer terminal. He noted and memorized the email address before he left London, but for good measure he copies in a general address for the Serious Collisions Investigation Unit at Catford. As he waits for the document to upload, he reminds himself that he needs to make a decision about which music to play while he loses consciousness. It should be a requiem, by rights, or opera, perhaps, but he has none in his collection. Maybe Pink Floyd.

No doubt it’s disingenuous, but he really does think of this document as his last gift to Fi. Not only does it divulge the means by which she can claim the proceeds from the house, but it also exposes Mike: his criminal acts, his coercion of Bram and deceit of Fi. Especially his deceit of Fi. Because the police need to know that she became entangled with this evil man only because he targeted her – she has done nothing wrong herself, not a step, not a breath.

Once the police know that Mike is Toby and Toby is Mike, they only need ask Fi how and where to find him and then she and the boys will be safe. At last, seeing that the file has successfully attached, he presses ‘Send’.

JaneJeffer · 10/03/2022 23:42

So not a great ending in the book either then.

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/03/2022 04:39

Where as if she stuck to the plan that she said to Merle

She would go to flat next day and find him

Not ring police 5mins later

By that time bram confession would be that Toby and Nike are the same

Tho maybe she could have said she lied as embarrassed her lover was actually scamming her

Then Mike killer his self as no money

Or she could blame Wendy

I’m Overthinking this at 4.38am

Fucking stupid ending, really sad for the boys. Dead dad and mum in prison, brilliant. Why couldn't they have just made it so that she gets the money and goes off into the sunset with the boys? Why have the bit where she killed Toby at all? Or at least make it a fight so it was clear self-defence.

And what happens to Wendy?
