Apparently Nancy, Dr Turner and Sister Julienne go to a midwifery conference in Chelmsford and there's a train accident on the way back. No mention of Nancy in that link (though it would seem illogical to kill her off) but I wonder about Sr Julienne, since Jenny Agutter apparently only signs a contract year by year now and is known to be keen to explore other work... Bumping off Dr T would certainly make for some interesting Shelagh storyline. Would she be able/permitted to continue fostering May, for example?

LavenderAskew · 11/02/2022 11:41

Themes no chance his wife will write him out. Unless they had a really bad argument about something - maybe he left the loo seat up one too many times 🤣

TrashyPanda · 11/02/2022 12:48

Or stayed in character once he got home?

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 11/02/2022 12:59

And brought Shelagh, the yay twins, Timmy and Teddy with him?

Jourdain11 · 11/02/2022 13:19

Maybe he'll be horribly injured? Or get PTSD again as a result of his experience...

Holothane · 11/02/2022 13:40

Ooh this looks brilliant.

Hellosunshiner · 11/02/2022 13:56

I'd be sad for anything to happen to St Doctor of Turner!

Yes he mansplains, yes he seems to cure everything and know everything and so on.... but he is also, as a character, kind, helpful and reassuring and adds a lot to the gentle charm. You get the feeling that nothing can go too far wrong with Dr Turner at the helm. I quite like that in a character.

TrashyPanda · 11/02/2022 15:29

Actually, maybe he gets caught up in the inferno when St Matthew of the Teeth and Tan spontaneously combusts?

TrashyPanda · 11/02/2022 15:31

What a pity one isn’t called Tommy.

Yes, I play animal crossing

aftonwater · 11/02/2022 15:38

Oooh - the train crash scenes were filmed on the steam railway next to my office.

Pebble21uk · 13/02/2022 11:52

Has anyone started watching 'This Is Going To Hurt'? Now that is gritty realism!!!

TrashyPanda · 13/02/2022 13:37

No, I thoroughly dislike the author, who thinks it is amusing to write and perform songs about Trisomy 21 and its effects, or Northern women.
So I’m giving anything to do with him a bodyswerve.

No intention of watching seen thr trailer and just screams of mocking women when in their most vulnerable state.

From comments I've read about it and what TrashyPanda just wrote looks like I wasn't wrong.

Elderflower14 · 13/02/2022 17:11

Not looking forward to the ending tonight... Apparently there will be a terrible shock... 😢 😢 😢

I'd never heard of Adam Kay before watching the first episode last night... I agree from what I've read since he seems keen to degrade women.

My point was that like him or loathe him - the series is, I believe, quite realistic and a comment on the current state of the NHS. Like him or loathe him, it was quite gritty realism (sadly)... so when programmes like CTM claim to be 'gritty realism' I find it a bit absurd as it is all so sugar coated - everyone is alright in the end etc.

I do realise that CTM is set in the 60s - but then there would have been even more misogyny!

Anyway - I'm up for tonight's episode!

PriamFarrl · 13/02/2022 20:13

Oh they aren’t being subtle setting this up are they?

otherusername · 13/02/2022 20:16

Are we supposed to pretend we don't notice that the 'terrace with bay window' is the same house that about 20 different people live in.

I know. It’s been every single house this series and previous ones.

Like it’s the same flat but redecorated.

Pebble21uk · 13/02/2022 20:18

First time we've had a high-rise balcony scene!

There was an old woman a few series ago where she didn't want to leave her rundown grotty tenament and to go live in a shiny new council flat

I can't work out what sort of house or flat the tuners live in

CeleriacOfTheNight · 13/02/2022 20:21

Is that Syed from Eastenders?

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 13/02/2022 20:21

I see the abortion act has been mentioned.

Would they really give a 16yo their own flat? Seems so young Sad

Well I guess if she is a care leaver then those days you’d be out at 16 and good luck.
