And Dr Turner still needs to be the first man to land on the moon…

It’s not him.

I can’t see Turnadette being a widow somehow. More likely to end up saving his life by nursing him back to health.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 13/02/2022 21:51

Am I the only one that knew the tunnel they cycle through every week is a railway viaduct?

Never noticed a train on it though, I presume it would cost too much.

Where was Mae tonight? We saw the other two "yay" children?!

Also that weird awkward conversation between Dr & Sister J at the conference. They'd actually gone to the bother of using special effects to make them look like they were next to each other!!!

SomeOwlsCoo · 13/02/2022 21:53

I thought Dr T was going to realise their was something wrong with the train and dash up to the drivers cab and save the day.
I'm glad he didn't.

I love seeing the young Nun grow as a person and stand up for that poor young mum.

Last week Angela was missing. Maybe they had Covid one after each other.
WildFlowerBees · 13/02/2022 21:54

Are we going to see the return of Mother superior whilst Sister Juliennes life hangs in the balance filming The Railway Children meanwhile Dr Twee and Mrs Tweedette count their blessings as he makes a full recovery in two days, the bump on his head has made him see just how important family is and as they have so much room in their hearts adopted another child.

Rockbird · 13/02/2022 21:55

Aw Turnadette and the heady days of series 2. That was so beautiful. Sigh.

I always knew it was a railway bridge, I'm pretty sure we've heard trains going over it.

I did too - imagined he’d rush heroically to the engine and screech on the brakes inches from disaster. He’s not living up to the parody and paragon of the man we have come to expect.
DobbyTheHouseElk · 13/02/2022 21:57

I noticed mae was missing but Mrs turner didn’t seem to notice.

vjg13 · 13/02/2022 21:59

The only shocking bit was that Dr T didn't realise what was happening and put the brake on in time!

Jourdain11 · 13/02/2022 22:07

Perhaps nobody will die! I'd quite like that Dr Perfect is injured and recuperating and a new doctor (maybe a woman or a South Asian) replaces him in the practice, and isn't all touchy-feely, in tune with the area. And they all hate his/her unsentimental ways until they come to realise that he/she is great: a bit like Nurse Crane when she arrived.

For Sr Julienne to die would be quite a departure from RL and I wonder if they'd do that? It would be easy to ship her off to the Mother House if JA wants written out: Mother Mildred has a dark night of the soul and Sr Julienne has to take over, for example.

I was also wondering about Young Tim. Since he apparently goes off (distraught and guilty) to join the search party and the actor might, at the age he is at, want out. But again, it seems a bit drastic. They could easily just make him invisible! Timothy's staying at uni for work experience, gone to volunteer in Africa for his holidays, etc.

I actually wonder if they have tried to foreshadow it a bit - does anyone remember the train shaking the walls when Cyril went to see the flat with Fred? I thought it was supposed to be like, oh the poor Robinsons, having to live so close to the trains (lol... our house shakes when the pendolinos out of Euston go past - we frequently have to reassure visitors that there isn't an earthquake...) but perhaps not?

PriamFarrl · 13/02/2022 22:09

@TheLightSideOfTheMoon

They wouldn’t mention Nurse Crane being in England and show the firework poster for nothing.

Or last weeks cheeky parafin/flammable shots.

Oooh. They talked about the paraffin being in the paper shop and in the hardware shop over the road.

The bridge has always been there but it’s never been mentioned really. I used to live similarly close to a bridge and we hardly noticed.
IsolaPribby · 13/02/2022 22:17

Crikey I wasn't expecting that! It's all a bit Casualty!

Yeh....but last week , we only saw Mae, not Angela

Would Catholic nuns really welcome the abortion act even if they were aware of back street abortions?!
I think they were Anglican not Catholic.

Well they killed of Sister Evangelina.....so who knows?
Calcifur · 13/02/2022 22:20

The fireworks shot is surely just to give an update on what month we’re in? They always shoehorn in some reference early on as they gallop through the months so fast.

Never I have ever seen a train crash so foreshadowed, it was like one of my kids wrote it. I actually laughed when Dr Turner said how glad he was he hadn’t driven. I also laughed when he said “I can see an increase in forceps” after learning about epidurals. Fucks sake.

TrashyPanda · 13/02/2022 22:20

@SpinningTheSeedsOfLove

Of course the train from Chelmsford to Liverpool Street with Sister Julienne and Dr Turner on board crashed right next to Nonnatus House. Driven by the husband of a Nonnatus patient currently giving birth, with a tea lady who has had all her babies delivered by Nonnatus House nuns serving up free rosie lees.

And of course the rescue operations are now being directed by Mr Aylward.

This is amazing stuff. So bad it's brilliant.

It was funny how St Matt of the Flashy Teeth was supposed to be directing folk to safety - so he spoke in a low voice and was the first one into Nonatus House.

How useless can you get? Speak up and stay outside to round up folk, you plonker.

Kitkat151 · 13/02/2022 22:21

@Aroundtheworldin80moves

My predition is that Nurse Crane was on the train. And its unknown until afterwards.
🤔 now that’s a real possibility
Aroundtheworldin80moves · 13/02/2022 22:21

Its 1967 right?

I thought such a big occurrence was very un CTM as it follows history. But... the 1967 Hither Green crash was 5th November. Obviously they've changed the details a bit.

AtlasPine · 13/02/2022 22:23

I really hope we don’t lose Nurse Crane. She’s one of the best characters. There are too many drips in CTMW at the moment and she balances them a bit.
