BBC 2 8pm tonight (feb 1st) Tom Kerridge is one of the new judges.

Can't wait to see some soil and steam and shoehorned themes.

Doesn't seem fair anything with alcohol risks getting vetoed.

Nathan's previous dessert was based on a Welsh poet who died during WWI and the Eisteddfod. It tasted nice, IIRC, but it was depressing and not really connected to the brief.

Theeyeballsinthefuckingsky · 31/03/2022 20:39

Would love Chris dessert to go through because he’s so lovely but honestly Spencer’s dessert is just incredible

Sunbird24 · 31/03/2022 20:40

Thank you @EsmaCannonball, I remember it now, glad he changed it.

EsmaCannonball · 31/03/2022 20:47

Spencer's dessert looked the most impressive, but I love a sherry trifle and that was the emperor of sherry trifles.

Sad for Sam. That dessert was so cheery and Morecambe and Wise are iconic enough to be perfect for the brief. I know Churchill's broadcasts were important but I would say they were more suitable to a brief about the history of current affairs or WWII. Derry Girls is a bit too recent to have entered the national consciousness enough to create automatic recognition.

jay55 · 31/03/2022 20:47

Tiny pieces of cake is totally my pet hate. But I think this dessert is much improved. Darn it.

It might not have been the judges’ favourite but given the choice I’d go for Sally’s

Sunbird24 · 31/03/2022 20:54

Ooh, go on Andi!

ILoveYou3000 · 31/03/2022 20:55

Sam is such a lovely young man. He hasn't stopped smiling all week. I love Nathan. He's brilliant.

It's definitely been a final with two groups at completely different levels. Pretty much the same few in the top 3 all week. Spencer and Chris have smashed it.

jay55 · 31/03/2022 20:56

That was a lovely ending.

Aww, glad Sally is doing something too

knittingaddict · 31/03/2022 21:35

That was lovely. I've enjoyed this series so much. A dream team.

Hallelujah2020 · 01/04/2022 06:53

They’ve been an absolutely brilliant bunch this year

Really love Liv, she’s such a great character

knittingaddict · 01/04/2022 09:42

The contestants, the judges, all perfect. Special mention for Andi though. She is an amazing human being. So kind, supportive and overall just plain lovely. She's definitely on my fantasy dinner party list.

iklboo · 01/04/2022 10:39

I'm really happy with the results - especially for Sally. It's going to be a good watch tonight.

ILoveYou3000 · 01/04/2022 12:15

They were a good bunch this year. Wasn't sure about the new judging panel at first, but ended up really liking them. Felt fresher and a bit friendlier.

Andi is awesome, completely agree with those who said so upthread. She has a real warmth to her and is always so positive. I love her clothes too.

I'm so sorry it's over for another year, I've started watching the old ones on iPlayer. And now I know who Sam reminded me of, and I'm wondering if maybe he's his son; Jeremy Lee.

Stellaris22 · 01/04/2022 16:15

I hope Sam comes back as he has such a lovely, positive attitude. He really listened to the feedback he was given as well.

knittingaddict · 01/04/2022 19:22

Yes hope to see Sam again. For the most part they were all lovely.

Adam was the only sour note. I don't know what his issues were and they may not have been just that his personality wasn't great. He seemed a bit curt generally and struggled to control his temper at times. Although I react to pressure by banging pots and pans around, so I'm not one to talk. Fortunately I don't have a few million people watching me when I do it.

I think it's unlikely that they are related.
jay55 · 01/04/2022 19:35

I hope Sam and Liv try again with a bit more experience and knowledge of expectations.

I think those who got dishes are all great, and masked how poor the rounds were this year.

Hope the banquet goes well.

Evening! Had to be a covid twist didn’t there?

jay55 · 01/04/2022 19:46

Spencer is so organised and seems a whole lot happier than in the rounds.

Nathan just couldn't be arsed to do any prep.

OP posts:
Sunbird24 · 01/04/2022 20:05

Sally seems to be doing more work than Nathan…

jay55 · 01/04/2022 20:13

I'm curious how they'll set up for main

OP posts:
SilkenBunny · 01/04/2022 20:17

Loving it this year.

But... does anyone else feel irked by the way the waiting staff have been made to wear masks throughout series? As if they're lowly germ-spreading plebs. I bet the celebs in attendance haven't all been tested. It shows a real us and them attitude and it's just horrible. In fact the whole testing farce that made Nathan too late do do his prepping is plain daft.

The chefs are constantly touching the food with no gloves but the servers are all gloves and tongs
