BBC 2 8pm tonight (feb 1st) Tom Kerridge is one of the new judges.

Can't wait to see some soil and steam and shoehorned themes.

Evening.

Oh angelo. Blurgh

Just dropped in to see what MN thinks of head cheese. Brains. 🤢 me too.

littlbrowndog · 23/02/2022 20:15

Where’s the fireworks. A wee picture of the pub. ☹️🤷‍♀️

longwayoff · 23/02/2022 20:16

Very Eastenders. Venison and jellied eels.

jay55 · 23/02/2022 20:16

I think of faggots as being a west country dish not east end.

Angelo 🧨🧨 brain

EsmaCannonball · 23/02/2022 20:18

Nothing about this dish is making me think 'Eastenders.' They should have done a Beale's Plaice fish dish.

littlbrowndog · 23/02/2022 20:21

That’s a chef who never thought about people eatin* that at the banquet

Kinda selfish

jay55 · 23/02/2022 20:23

Pride and prejudice, he's done the whole banquet on one course

littlbrowndog · 23/02/2022 20:25

Spencer’s. Fantastic

EsmaCannonball · 23/02/2022 20:27

Thank God for Spencer, although I'm finding that doing tv adaptations of famous novels risks connecting more to literature than broadcasting.

EsmaCannonball · 23/02/2022 20:33

When I was young you could buy cakes shaped like Dougal from bakeries. They were made out of cream-filled meringues.

EsmaCannonball · 23/02/2022 20:35

Although fancy doing Rhubarb and Custard and not doing Roobarb and Custard?

jay55 · 23/02/2022 20:36

I love rhubarb, hate custard.

It's funny there has been a distinct lack of greens and veg with this lot.

Then green all over the plate for pud.

OP posts:
littlbrowndog · 23/02/2022 20:50

Oh yeah. Lack of veg

littlbrowndog · 23/02/2022 20:51

Spencer class above the 2 others

longwayoff · 23/02/2022 20:53

Surely that's an entry for the Apprentice?

I'm not a big meat eater and I can get a bit squeamish sometimes at certain things. I've just googled what head cheese is 🤢🤢🤮 why would you do that! What did the lovely people attending the banquet do to deserve that

JessCat75 · 24/02/2022 19:32

Hi, new to the party, is it just me or is everyone getting fed up of the tenuous links to the brief, I'm expecting someone to do a flipping quiche at some point and say it was a tribute to the Lorraine show!

Stellaris22 · 24/02/2022 19:35

I agree. There was a dish that had a link to the RHS Flower Show. I thought it was lazy as there are lots of gardening TV shows they could have linked to instead eg Gardeners World. Some of the dishes I struggle to see any link with.

jay55 · 24/02/2022 20:04

The matching the brief is ridiculously pants. A duck dish for Grange Hill, venison for eastenders. As good as the cigar looked Churchill felt a stretch too.

I can't decide whether Anita and Brian will have a team of private chefs or whether Brian is devoted to his aga.

EsmaCannonball · 24/02/2022 20:10

I feel like Andi has bigged them up but it was only really Spencer who was stellar.
