Last year there was a really exciting female chef who didn't win the SE heat despite scoring higher than most of the people who went through to finals week. I was hoping she'd get another chance this year. She was better than any of the ones tonight.
I recognise Angelo from Saturday Kitchen (yes, I tuned in for Dave Grohl) and I think Robbie was on Masterchef: the Professionals.
A lot of the dishes lacked a visual connection to the brief and some of the links were too tenuous. The Chelsea Flower Show is more of an event that's televised than a television event, and that interpretation of Sherlock Holmes felt more connected to literature than any of the television adaptations. I think my hopes have been raised by previous chefs building their own blast furnaces. It's what I expect now.
