I keep hearing rumours but can't see anything set in stone. Does anyone know when the new series of PB starts?

OP posts:
XelaM · 15/03/2022 10:54

I don't know why the writers think high society women if that time were (openly) sluts Grin the Russian Duchess, now Diana Mitford. It doesn't strike me as realistic behaviour

XelaM · 15/03/2022 10:54

TheUsualShitshow · 15/03/2022 11:56

I don't know either. All this 'I also fuck women' to someone you've only just met, for business purposes is a bit Confused

I dislike how sexualised women are in lots of ways in this programme. I mean, what did that line add? Nothing. It's not like Ada was about to shag her before getting down to business.

Dragonfly97 · 15/03/2022 12:20

I'm wondering if Tommy has epilepsy; it looks like he's had a couple of fits?

Samii89 · 15/03/2022 12:31

Im sure this last series has 9 episodes, not 6 like the previous ones

Samii89 · 15/03/2022 12:38

Actually sorry, someone told me there will be 9,but it will actually be 6! Apologies!

Binglebong · 15/03/2022 13:36

I didn't realise Gina was the star in Queen's Gambit - now you've said that I can see it of course. She was brilliant in that and doesn't work for me here, but then neither does Michael. I did think there was no way she would have left Michael without a last shag as she had the keys though!

Thymeout · 15/03/2022 13:57

Surely it wasn't that unusual in upper class society for some women to behave unconventionally? One of the characters in Nancy's books was the daughter of someone called The Bolter. Huxley and Waugh both satirised the Anything Goes spirit of the age. Divorce would get you banned from Court, but country-house weekends were notorious for shenanigans. Sauce for the gander, sauce for the goose. Look at the difference between Edwardian dress, long skirts and upholstered bosoms, puffed-up hair and the Flappers with their cropped hair and skimpy clothes.

Diana was trying to upstage a woman whose brother had an interesting past(?), wore Chanel trouser suits and an unconventional marriage.

youngestisapsycho · 15/03/2022 14:44

I read somewhere that it's 6 episodes and then will all be tied up with a movie...

Chocolattay · 15/03/2022 19:48

I think Tommy will die. Ruby said “The Gray man is coming for me, and he’s coming for daddy too.” Ruby was right about her so surely Tommy is toast?

He may have TB.

Chocolattay · 15/03/2022 19:50

@TheUsualShitshow

I thought the same of Stephen Graham’s addiction speech to Arthur. It was incredibly corny, out of its time, and it just wasn’t ‘Peaky Blinders’. It was a waste of Stephen Graham.

XelaM · 15/03/2022 21:09

@Thymeout When I think of witty English-speaking society I think of Oscar Wilde's characters and Henry Higgins. "I also fuck women" is not particularly witty and although in the beginning of the 20th century Russia, there was Rasputin with his orgies and "the Black Princesses" who were into witchcraft, there are still things a Duchess would never say or do. They were still behaving like Royals, even if in exile

FlippyFloppyFlappy · 15/03/2022 21:10

Yeah I think the "grey" man will be Michael (Gray) who kills Tommy.

XelaM · 15/03/2022 21:22

@FlippyFloppyFlappy Ohh never thought of that! Good thinking!

FlippyFloppyFlappy · 15/03/2022 21:25

Can't take the credit to be honest, dd read it on the internet 😂
I can't see him not dying though.

HemanOrSheRa · 15/03/2022 23:02

Maybe I'm missing something but I always thought that the whole thing was leading up to the gang's downfall? Desperately trying to keep hold of power. The double crosses, wheeling and dealing.

I thought there was something going on between Isiah Jesus and Ada. A power play of old and new. And Isiah is a friend of Michael.

Motnight · 15/03/2022 23:12

Ada was marvellous, it is almost as though the storyline is gearing up to come full circle and have the women in charge of the business again as the men go back to war.

Arthur looked and acted so frail and vulnerable, it was good to see the character move pass the comedic phase of the previous episodes.

Chocolattay · 15/03/2022 23:13

They made a big deal of Ruby dying at 5:17pm. DH noticed the repetition of it and Googled it.

5:17 a bible verse which mentions “ the new creation has come, the old has gone, the new is here!”

I just find that interesting

Haggisfish3 · 15/03/2022 23:16

Ooooh that is interesting!

That's what I think too. Talk of full circle. Gearing up for the women to be left again.

Chocolattay that is very interesting! Racking my brains as to why that time might be significant from previous series. I don't think there is?

Motnight · 15/03/2022 23:35

That is really interesting re 517!

Uafasach · 15/03/2022 23:52

For those interested, Diana Mitford's interview on Desert Island Discs from 1989 is available on Spotify.

BlueSpottedGiraffe · 16/03/2022 07:48

I had noticed they emphasised she died and 5.17pm but couldn't think of what it could relate too.

Me too ... the casting was a bit "Right, we need a scouser who is popular on tv right now ...".

Agree it was a waste ... as said upthread I was expecting the presence he had on Boardwalk Empire and there was none of that,

Gosh that is, I thought it felt odd to focus on the time. Interested to see its relevance later
