I keep hearing rumours but can't see anything set in stone. Does anyone know when the new series of PB starts?

And as for Diana Mitford... How can someone be so beautiful, yet so repulsive at the same time? That was extremely well played by the actress.

Thymeout · 28/03/2022 14:41

Tommy is playing Mosley and the Joe Kennedy character. Just as they are trying to play him. He has to convince them he's gone over to the Dark Side. The Hitler salute and letting them think Diana has seduced him, he's putty in her hands. He apologised to Lizzy in advance of what he knew was going to happen.

It's never been a family saga just with criminal backgrounds. He's saying goodbye to his family, which he now knows he would have to do anyway but the political element means he can do it for a good cause.

Is it just me or is this season not as good as the others and feels a bit slower I really hope it goes out with a bang next week xx

OnTheBoardwalk · 28/03/2022 22:43

Is it just me that completely missed the 28 days later link?

I love that film but can’t believe it was realised in 2002

Binglebong · 29/03/2022 00:16

There was a 28 Days Later link?!

dexterslockedintheshedagain · 29/03/2022 07:21

@Binglebong

There was a 28 Days Later link?!
⬆️This!!!😳😳😳
OnTheBoardwalk · 29/03/2022 08:52

Cillian was Jim.

He doesn’t look old enough to be starring in a film from 2002

dexterslockedintheshedagain · 29/03/2022 09:52

Oh, I see! I thought that maybe PB had made some sort of reference to 28 days, in a scene or something.

OnTheBoardwalk · 29/03/2022 10:18

Now that would have been cool 😃

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 30/03/2022 21:06

I found myself really losing the will to keep watching during this one. Confused I had two nanny naps during, never a good sign

Haggisfish3 · 31/03/2022 21:48

Oooh garrotted balls-horrific!!! Poor Lizzie. I like duke, too.

louise5754 · 01/04/2022 07:43

I'm surprised he's trusting Duke. Esme could be making it all up to get an inside man to bring the PB down.

Did Tommy only marry Lizzie because of the pregnancy? He said he loves her in the last episode yet she said he can sleep with others.

Was there this much random sex in the 20s or is it just for tv? I feel I'm a prude but I don't see the point in most of the sex scenes. Why the hell did he sleep with Diane? Why did Gina sleep with Moseley? Why are all the men constantly using prostitutes? Surely with their money they can get most women they want.

Over the last 2/3 weeks I've rewatched from series 1. Not the same but my husband goes off for days / weeks at short notice and watching this has had me on edge all day for weeks. I like to watch tv to escape it not relive it.

Surprised Charlie Johnny Dogs and Curly have all lasted this long.?

It became too political for me. Most gang dramas end that way and it's too much for my tiny head to take.

TottersBlankly · 01/04/2022 08:09

I’m pretty sure ‘random sex’ has been around for as long as there have been humans capable of having it.

But until the mid-twentieth century there was no reliable way of preventing pregnancy. And subsequent disgrace if pregnancy happened outside marriage. So, while each individual woman may or may not have had some experience of sex outside marriage, over a lifetime the vast majority would have proceeded with caution and only had sex regularly / often once married. So most women were not ‘available’ to most men most of the time. Hence prostitution. Because it was accepted that men could walk away from any consequences after such encounters, without disgrace.

It’s a useful trope for drama creators. In PB it’s mostly used quite superficially to indicate a male state of mind - but I recall in Game of Thrones scenes with prostitutes often drove the plot.

BOOTS52 · 03/04/2022 06:07

Am disappointed in past few episodes and the way the show has changed and has Alfie (Tom Hardy) even been in this season as miss the rapport and dialect between Tommy and Alfie. Really don't like all the political stuff either and Tommy in bed with everyone and everyone else in bed with everyone else's partner's. Std's must have been rampant then. 28 Days Later was brilliant, Cillian was great in it and always wished they did a 2nd movie with Cillian in it and you get to see a full naked frontal of Cillian and all his bits on view which is unusual as usually the women only naked on shows so a nice pleasant surprise.

louise5754 · 03/04/2022 21:06

I'm nervous!!!

youngestisapsycho · 03/04/2022 21:47

It’s just so sloooooow…..

longwayoff · 03/04/2022 21:51

There was an epidemic of syphilis prior to the invention of antibiotics. End stage syphilis resulted in something known as General Paralysis of the Insane, GPI, and the many Victorian asylums were built as a result. Plus all the other STIs, were many and rampant. Makes you understand why 'nice girls' kept their knickers on in those days. Diana Moseley was not remotely nice.

longwayoff · 03/04/2022 21:52

Yes it is slow, it's annoying me.

Binglebong · 03/04/2022 21:54

Oh Finn. What happened to get him disowned (prior to trying to shoot his nephew)?

Binglebong · 03/04/2022 21:56

Also what is up with the long shot suddenly zooming in to a face? Has the director found a new setting? Was really bad with Gina and Michael and looked nowhere near as good as they thought!

Jellykat · 03/04/2022 22:15

Hah! of course..

littlbrowndog · 03/04/2022 22:16

Heck

SmellyOldOwls · 03/04/2022 22:24

Holy shit
That was bloody brilliant. And I have not enjoyed this series at all. But fuck!! That was epic.

dapsnotplimsolls · 03/04/2022 22:25

Well, hmmm! I guess it was better than some kind of miracle cure. Not sure how I feel about that ending though ...

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 03/04/2022 22:26

Didn’t see that coming
