I keep hearing rumours but can't see anything set in stone. Does anyone know when the new series of PB starts?

OP posts:

The way Ada's house was attacked really showed how far the Peaky Blinders had fallen - no way would that have happened in their heyday. I know she is London no Brum but their influence still travelled. I found that montage really confusing -I had to watch it twice to work out what was happening and to whom.

I don't want film and on the writing this series it won't stand up to one. I miss the family feel.

Last episode will be feature length.

I thought the point of the scene is that times are changing. The influence of the Peaky Blinders is waning. It's all part of the general theme that a new age is about to start with the younger generation.

@MissBattleaxe

It's just unrelentingly dark with no shafts of light. I still love PB but this is the worst series of a great show. It feels like someone different is writing it. It's not about the Shelby family anymore, it just seems to document Tommy's slow demise. Make uncomfortable viewing when you've emotionally invested in these characters over 5 series.

What I love about previous series was how the whole family took part in a big, clever secret plan to overcome their enemies. Tommy was the brains and he was always one step ahead. There was always a satisfying confrontation full of twists. Now we open an episode with long funeral scenes and it just seems to get more painful after that.

I totally agree with all of this. Really disappointed in this series. It’s missing the PB magic as well as Polly. Liking Ada a lot though!
TheUsualShitshow · 24/03/2022 13:46

I'll have to add that to my list @XelaM

Duke is played by Conrad Khan, a rising star who was fantastic in County Lines and Baptiste, so I hope and imagine Duke will feature in the last two episodes.

OnTheBoardwalk · 27/03/2022 21:52

I’m finding the constant music over key scenes really annoying and distracting

elephantmarchingin · 27/03/2022 22:07

I thought tonight's was slightly better but do feel it's going to be a very very rushed final episode

OnTheBoardwalk · 27/03/2022 22:10

I did enjoy tonight’s episode more than previous episodes despite the wailings

Next weeks episode is slightly longer at 1 hour 20 mins but yes agree it’s going to be very rushed

estellacruella · 27/03/2022 22:29

cant believe next week is the big finale.... i wonder how they r going to wrap all this up. x

StationaryMagpie · 27/03/2022 22:38

i am just.. lost, i'm not sure i know what the hell is going on half the time tbh.

Binglebong · 27/03/2022 23:39

Did anyone see what tool dear old Uncle Joe was using on Billy? I saw the effect but not what he was using.

Binglebong · 27/03/2022 23:47

When did mosely Shag Lizzie?!

Binglebong · 28/03/2022 00:02

That version of Red Right Hand was up there with Shatner's Common People.Envy 《not envy

picklek · 28/03/2022 00:13

@Binglebong - years ago when she was taking money for it. Last season - At the party with the ballet when they are first introduced you find that out.

Thymeout · 28/03/2022 00:16

@Binglebong

When Lizzie was a prostitute, Mosley was one of Lizzie's customers. She made some remark about knowing him better than Diana in a previous episode. He's MP for Smethwick, a Midlands constituency.

Not sure about instrument used on Billy. It looked like mini-version of a garrotte.

Still as beautiful to watch as ever, but there's a lot to process. I find the mash-up at the end of episodes a bit confusing. Difficult to sort out what's part of Tommy's nightmare and what's real. Where was the bath he woke up in?

XelaM · 28/03/2022 00:22

@Binglebong It was the exact same wire that Billy used to kill the football referee (what an awful scene that was).

I can't believe Tommy was stupid enough to shag Diana (yuck 🤢) and think she wouldn't tell Lizzie. Anyone could have predicted that would be the final nail in their marriage.

Like the fact that Finn is back and I like Duke, but they should have introduced him much earlier in the series.

Binglebong · 28/03/2022 00:44

Thank you all. I'm finding it hard to concentrate on this series so I miss things like that! I'm surprised Mosely knew Lizzie back then -, it might just be a coincidence too far for me.

VivaDixie · 28/03/2022 09:30

I was cross last week when the seemed to shoehorn Duke into the plot but I liked him this week. He is a far calmer version of a Shelby. I liked him.
They also seemed to shoehorn Finn back in and quickly introduce a wife (whose name I have instantly forgotten).
Poor poor Lizzie - the actor is playing her grief so well. Then to find out that Tommy couldn't keep his knob in his pants even in a state of grief was heartbreaking.

The referee murder and Billy's knob chop were horrific but actually a step back to the gritty PB. I think the actor who plays Billy is brilliant - he really portrays someone who wants to be in the firm - but is shit scared of Arthur really well.

I didn't have my contact lenses in last night; what did it say on the bullet? Was it a name?

BlueSpottedGiraffe · 28/03/2022 09:47

Yes it said Stagg (Stephen grahams character is called Mr Stagg)
FurForksSake · 28/03/2022 10:09

I did wonder if Tommy shagged Diana so that lizzy would hate him and make his ending easier on her.

Lizzy is played beautifully, I love that her character has developed and become central.

KitchenDancefloor · 28/03/2022 10:26

Thanks @BlueSpottedGiraffe. Such a cliché!

LadyTwinkle · 28/03/2022 13:19

If there was an award for the amount of awkward sex scenes in a single episode. This one would surely win it.
