It's back. Starts with a great recap of the fame and fallout of series 1's success.

Article on why Lexi disappeared. Would have loved if they'd featured this as a storyline. How all of them adjusted to home learning. The lack of help/intervention for vulnerable students.

SwanShaped · 20/01/2022 08:05

Isn’t the tape on their leg and injury thing? Like a support for their knees.

SwanShaped · 20/01/2022 08:08

I thought they had to stop at 21 anyway?

XelaM · 20/01/2022 08:42

@SwanShaped That can't be right, as Gabi was 24 during last season of Cheer.

Interesting about why Lexi had to quit! I wonder if they get any support to help them keep their grades up so as not to lose eligibility (like in "Last Chance U")

SwanShaped · 20/01/2022 09:24

Oh right, for some reason I thought you could only go up to 21. What happened with the other flyer graduating then? The one who looked quite young. Morgan, I think.

viques · 20/01/2022 09:36

I thought that at first, but they all seemed to have it, and on the same leg, which seemed odd. Maybe it’s a “thing” like those ridiculous hair bows.
SwanShaped · 20/01/2022 10:35

I was wondering about that too. And then thought that maybe they put more pressure on one leg a lot? Their dominant leg?

I think they have 3 years of eligibility. I don't know if the covid season they were able to discount as nationals didn't happen.

In ncaa sports the eligibility clock starts when you enroll in college so you have 5 years from then to compete four (with some leeway for medical reasons). But for junior college there isn't a clock when the time period starts, from what I understand.

I saw an article on Morgan where she mentioned the three years though. I think as she'd been accepted to a good college it wouldn't have made sense to go back (unless Netflix were offering $$$$$$)

@jay55 also, cheerleading isn't part of the NCAA.

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 20/01/2022 12:30

The leg thing is called a patella band

I know, I thought I was explaining the difference between the two in terms of when eligibility starts.

Thankyou. Have now had a satisfactory and informative google!
@tvcc his screeching made me mute the TV, every damn time.
Haha

Honestly didn't get why he was so liked

Festivecheer26 · 22/01/2022 00:40

@tvcc I think it was his journey from being an alternate at the start of the last series to eventually being selected to compete after a lot of hard work. He also appeared to be a very positive and supportive teammate even when he was an alternate. Tragic back story with his mum dying when he was so young and him being taken in by someone else’s parents too.

ISpyCobraKai · 22/01/2022 00:44

Now most people have watched can I say I was so happy that Valley won!
I've been desperate to say this, I watched the whole thing the day it was released.

vjg13 · 23/01/2022 18:14

It really doesn't make it clear that it's just the two teams competing in this group against each other.

vjg13 · 23/01/2022 18:35

Also really glad that TVCC won

XelaM · 23/01/2022 19:16

Me too!! Loved TVCC!! All the characters and the coach. Was rooting for them from the beginning. Navarro bought into their own media hype

vjg13 · 23/01/2022 19:39

I would put money on a third season too.

Redbeanpasta · 23/01/2022 19:55

I binge watched season one and two this week. Wow the difference between the two, series one felt fairly feel good, just young people following a dream, season 2 just so dark, the arrests, the negativity of fame, the divides. I'd love to see a 3rd season that focused on tvcc more.

MinglingFlamingo · 23/01/2022 20:14

I wish they did this show 10-20 years ago when Instagram etc wasn't around and see if the show had the same impact on terms of new found fame

Knitter99 · 24/01/2022 11:36

I really enjoyed season 1 but 2 is just miserable. I'm not interested at all. I've sort of had it on in the background while pottering around doing other things.
I can't work out who at Navarro I care about, whose side I'm on. Monica seems awful but equally she seems mega stressed and unhappy. LaDarius seems sensible and rational, but he's spouting loads of ranty stuff on Twitter, so maybe he's not so great either. I just can't feel anything for any of them.
I always found Jerry odd. I couldn't understand why he was in the team at all. His body shape, weight and fitness seemed so different to the other guys, why was he even there? Did they all just feel sorry for him because his mum died?

I'm glad someone said on here which team won, I don't have to watch any more now. Phew.

XelaM · 24/01/2022 14:33

Oh no @Knitter99 the 2 Daytona episodes were really good. Worth watching

Knitter99 · 24/01/2022 16:01

Oh well, maybe I'll watch them while doing the ironing later

CaveMum · 24/01/2022 17:52

I think he was in the team purely for stunting - ie chucking the girls in the air, either doing the actual throwing or spotting. Everyone has an allocated roll on the team and some, like Ladarius, could tumble AND stunt we’ll, but others just did one or the other.

I guess it’s also the case that there will always be more girls than boys wanting to do cheerleading, so while they can be picky with the girls they kind of have to take what they have with the boys.
