Glad to have found this thread! Came across this on Netflix.
The show and the sport is so US-specific. Find it fascinating. Would like more information on the money side of things, eg how much it costs children and teens to do this type of acrobatic cheer, what’s in it financially for these small, further education places.
Agree with XelaM that in Season One the Navarro coaches took too many risks with the young women ‘flyers’, and indeed the whole team. For example, encouraging Morgan to risk broken ribs, also practicing the dangerous parts of the routine again and again in sessions when the squad were exhausted.
Also agree with XelaM that Netflix was irresponsible with some of the content about young people who seemed vulnerable, eg Morgan and Lexi.
Monica comes across as a ‘cold fish’. Hard to understand why the young people spoke of her as a ‘mother’ figure: it SEEMED genuine, but she holds huge power over them.
Jerry was a shock. It seems that his Season One persona with his team mates was fake. Strongly disagreed with Gabi and Monica, who seemed to have decided to prioritise his feelings over his victims’.
