Yes I wouldn’t be surprised about a gold statue either Raahh - I was sort of imagining those wobbly head figures of Djok Grin

Andy Murray shortbread would be quite good! Grin

Raahh · 10/01/2022 06:32

I have been up most of the night- just got out of the dower, and it looks like ( according to breaking news on the independent website,) Djok has won his appeal. Hmm

LiveintheNow · 10/01/2022 06:43

Indeed, from BBC

BREAKING
Djokovic to be released
The court has ruled that Novak Djokovic will be released, after the judge found unreasonableness in how the border official made his decision cancelling the visa.

MarshaBradyo · 10/01/2022 06:50

Gov broke required procedures and visa returned

Blimey

RainCloude · 10/01/2022 06:56

Hello! I've been listening to the news too. It seems the Australian government surrendered on a technicality, because they didn't follow the correct procedure. Apparently they may take the visa away again, this time using correct procedure. Or something ?? This was BBC.

ChessieFL · 10/01/2022 06:56

But apparently the government is considering re-cancelling the visa so it’s not over yet!

RainCloude · 10/01/2022 06:58

Hahahaha and apparently Nigel Farage is travelling over to support Djokovic
(Just heard on radio)
ConfusedShockHmm

ChessieFL · 10/01/2022 07:01

That almost makes me feel sorry for Djok!

Monty27 · 10/01/2022 07:05

Hypocrisy at its best if he isn't kicked out.

Kinneddar · 10/01/2022 07:19

So he won his appeal & gets to stay. What a shock 🙄

Fizzywinegum · 10/01/2022 07:32

I’m not surprised either - thought he would win - will still be interesting to see how he’s received if he does play at the AO

Nigel Farage Shock - apparently Nick Kyrgios has also been talking of his support for him - you know you must be doing something wrong if those two are supporting you Hmm

trollopolis · 10/01/2022 07:42

So -is anyone running a sweepstake on duration of booing?

Monty27 · 10/01/2022 07:49

It really is disrespectful to Ozzies and expats who can't travel.

Good
MajesticWhine · 10/01/2022 08:04

How lucky for Djokovic that he was not deported like Renata Voracova.
I hope in next press conference someone asks him what he was doing out in public after testing positive.

Hobnobswantshernameback · 10/01/2022 09:17

So the lying little shit gets to play
I hope the crowd hand him his arse and walk out
Arrogant gobshite

I agree. While I think the state and national governments, and Tennis Aus, all fumbled this badly, his behaviour and attitude is most unedifying.
JaneJeffer · 10/01/2022 11:08

And I thought Emmerdale was farcical these days.

Jane Grin

It's all a complete joke now, and even if he plays, he will probably face a pretty hostile crowd.

(Unless he pays for a Serbian renta-mob, or somehow manages to get the whole place back in lockdown, just for him, and they have to play to no-one- which this time, would suit him). He seems to have the ability to get his own way, so who knows?

Must be the power of figs.

Mama1980 · 11/01/2022 11:17

Grin Jane
The saga really is taking on ridiculous proportions now, Rafa was right when he called it a circus. The news is saying ministers will make a final decision/statement today - they just need to get it sorted so we can all start talking about the tennis again.

On that note Emma had a pretty tough morning but Andy is through.

ChessieFL · 11/01/2022 11:23

I feel sorry for whoever ends up playing Djok, the crowd reaction could easily overshadow the match.

He famously doesn't like it if the crowd don't show sufficient 'respect' Hmm for him. It might actually help his opponents.
Raahh · 11/01/2022 11:37

Chessie That's what is so infuriating about the whole thing- Djok and his vaccine status- and now all this- has pretty much overshadowed the last couple of months. There will be record crowds-and the organisers will be rubbing their hands together- but it's for all the wrong reasons.
