The very best opeining draw -and I can't stand either of them- would be Djok against Kyrgios.

The crowd support for Kyrgios, (and the noise) as well as the feelings against Djok, would be the perfect storm.

Kyrgios has COVID so not sure if he’ll be playing but I would definitely stay up all night to watch that one

Thread favourite Tomic has been telling the umpire that he will definitely get COVID in the next few days (not sure if that was an excuse for his usual rubbish performance )

Rafa is right - the whole thing is becoming a circus - apparently now there are inconsistencies on Djok’s visa application - he seems to have been spreading his ‘Covid’ far and wide by also travelling to Spain but didn’t put this on his form …

It is annoying that the whole of the AO will be dominated by Djok whether he plays or not - a bit like when Medvedev won the US Open but everyone was still talking about Djok

The visa thing is so ridiculous- and could all have avoided. It shouldn't even be about visas. It should be as simple as- if you want to enter the country/state and play, you need to be vaccinated. If you choose not to be (and we've not heard any valid reason for it over the last umpteen months that vaccines have been around), then see you next time.

It is a circus- and they are letting Djok run rings around them.

And I saw pictures of Djok practicing in Spain on New Year's Eve, at the Soto Academy- practicing with 'Australian open balls'. It was on twitter. (I don't follow him it came up on a tennis site I look at). He can hardly deny he was there.
At that point, there was no suggestion he had been recovering from Covid.

He's just determined to prove the rules don't apply to him.

Rookie error

Boris (t'other one, not Our Boris) got involved the other day, saying he thought players should be vaccinated- so yes, I'm hoping both RG and Wimbledon do go with this- and then we will see what he does.

I think I read somewhere that the French have said he can play unvaccinated but only if he observes quarantine and he won't be able to go to any bars/restaurants etc. that require vaccine in unless he has the usual 24hr clear PCR test.

Mama quarantine should not really be the default anymore, now vaccines exist.
Before RG, time is quite tight- there is only a week between the final of Rome and the start of RG,so it would depend how long he would need to isolate for. If it meant he couldn't play in either, I'd be happy. .

There's only so often he can pull the 'I've just tested positive' card, as well.

I totally agree raahh as you say it (hopefully ) wouldn't give him enough time anyway...
I found myself getting really angry about this today, my dd2 cannot be vaccinated - for genuine medical reasons, all the rest of us are as she's CEV. The idea that be is lying about something so serious to let's face it just play a game, is really making me furious.

Mama situations like yours are exactly why Djok is a total knob- there is no medical exemption for him, not a genuine one-and as I keep banging on if he had a real reason to not have the vaccine it would have been known to the medical teams and tennis powers- that-be when vaccines were first announced- because there's nothing to hide there, is there, if it's genuine.

I'm quite sure there will be one or two players who fall into this category- we don't even need to know who they are. But if they have gone through all the right channels- instead of taking everyone for fools- then there's no issue.

He is making it harder for other people-not easier. He's not the 'freedom fighter' his fans are calling him. All that will happen is that probably much lower ranked, much less well off players wil
l be heavily scrutinised, and Djok will still skip along on his merry way. .

And it is just a game.

I wouldn’t put it past him to do something dodgy with the tests - it just seems too much of a coincidence for someone so opposed to the vaccine conveniently catching Covid just before entering Australia

If he is found to have done something dodgy I really, really hope he gets his comeuppance - grrr!

Basically, questioning his version of events, his (lack of a) moral compass etc etc, with a few good swear words thrown in for good measure The support for them on SM is overwhelming, apparently

Here we all are loving tennis players of every colour and creed from all over the world yet very few people, if any, on here like Djok despite him being an amazing tennis player. Funny that.

I feel bad for the people he might have given Covid too, who had to isolate over Christmas.
And the poor assistant who was blamed for the 'error' in travel prior to entry to Australia. You know, on the form that Djoko signed as true and accurate....

By the way how did he manage to travel from Serbia (non EU) to Spain with a positive test? Rules are 14 days self isolation with a risk of up to 3 years in jail.
Even the Serbian PM is annoyed with the Serbian Messiah...

It looks as if Australia are still building a case about cancelling Djok’s visa with a decision due tomorrow? Hopefully they’ll make the right decision based on his blatant flaunting of Covid rules and lying on his form (and then blaming someone else!)
