Is Rafa’s match on the telly does anyone know?

The weathers awful here Raahh we had quite a bit of snow yesterday but I think the rain will wash it away today. Curling up on the sofa sounds like a good plan!

We are having Christmas round 2 later to make up for not being able to see some people due to COVID - luckily it’s not at my house and I’m not cooking Grin

Even I’m bored if the whole Djok thing now but someone (a known anti vaxxer) getting COVID (but not telling anyone about it!) just before they were going to enter a country with strict vaccination rules - hmm …

Raahh · 08/01/2022 10:26

Dagger I wrote a long post about Djok- and then didn't bother with it, because I'm bored with him now.

I find the whole 'tested postive' in December thing a bit convenient (when it gives him an excuse not to be vaxxed). Why not just say he had covid. There's been no mention that he's had it again at all - till now. Why the secrecy- a covid diagnosis would be a valid reason. If true.

Even when he did the Adria Tour though- they were not negative- at least someone wasn't - because, they went to nightclubs prior to the first matches, and played a match with abasket ball team. Within days of that- Dimitrov tested positive.

Raahh · 08/01/2022 10:29

Fizzy

DaggerIsle · 08/01/2022 10:44

I meant re Adria, obviously someone was positive but might not have known.
In this case he was and still chose to attend multiple public events without any precautions whatsoever.
Utterly selfish.

Raahh · 08/01/2022 11:10

Finally- Rafa's match is under way- I decided I really should get dressed.

The rain here is awful. At least it has got rid of the snow.Grin

Sakura7 · 08/01/2022 13:05

@DaggerIsle

So apparently he tested positive for Covid on 16th Dec. In the couple of days that followed his positive diagnosis he was seen at a basketball match, receiving a honorific stamp at an event in Serbia, at a tennis panel... maskless and without social distancing. So he's either a liar or even more of a twat than I thought. I am pretty sure he was defying rules in some of places he visited while knowingly infected with Covid.

Why is no-one horrified at this?????
At least when they did their tennis thing back in 2020 at the time they were negative. This time no excuses

It's appalling.

I also don't understand how a covid infection on 16th December qualifies him anyway. He applied for his visa on 18th November and the deadline for exemption applications was 10th December. So he did not have sufficient grounds for exemption at the time of application anyway.

Cookerhood · 08/01/2022 13:33

And he posted in Twitter on December 17th accepting some Serbian stamps - shaking hands etc. Having flown in from Morocco or somewhere Hmm

Cookerhood · 08/01/2022 13:35

Actually the ceremony was the 16th, the day he "tested positive"

Fizzywinegum · 08/01/2022 13:39

Hurrah - Rafa won his match!

I just think it’s too much of a coincidence that he got COVID in the last few weeks and yes DaggerIsle if he did have COVID why was he gallivanting around instead of isolating and why is this news only coming out now?

I think there’s definitely something dodgy going on and if there is I hope he gets found out and gets his comeuppance!

JaneJeffer · 08/01/2022 13:41

Djok is a dick. He's always been a dick and he always will be a dick.

Indeed Jane Grin

Raahh · 08/01/2022 15:19

Jane we have always known it. Grin

It's all too convenient for Djok- the timing of his 'covid', all of it, and I hope if come Monday, and he is allowed to stay, he realises just how difficult it is going to be when he plays. I can't imagine the press will let it lie- and even if he doesn't want to discuss it -there will be plenty of other players all too happy to give their opinion- after every match. He might end up winning the tournament even- but he will be one of the most unpopular winners.

I had to go out just before saw the 'end' of the Rafa results- he was leading 5-3 in the second set at one point, before the scores got a bit closer. He will be pleased to get some matches under his belt. VAMOS !!

Raahh · 09/01/2022 09:45

Just checking in on the scores to the Rafa final this morning- he's in a bit of a tie break battle in the first set, by the look if things.

RBA has had a lot of break point chances in match in the ATP cup final against RBA.
Shapo won the the first match against PCB.

Raahh · 09/01/2022 10:02

All going a bit pear shaped now though- Rafa won the set- and could go 3-1 down in the second set. He has a chance to break back though at the moment. I hate score watching Grin

RBA is struggling in the tie break. Felix AA's serve is too good really, and he's 5-1 up.

Raahh · 09/01/2022 10:30

I took my eye off the match for a few minutes- and Rafa must have raced through the last few games Grin

So VAMOS - that's a win for him.

I haven't seen anything to say how he is physically, so I'm not sure how well his foot has actually recovered- and a slam will be a very different experience to this week, but it will have been good to get back on the court, I'm sure.

Felix AA took the first set, and it's going with serve in the second.

Raahh · 09/01/2022 10:52

And Canada have won- which is nice. They are a young team really (don't think Raonic was there).

Spain did well- they are great players, and proved they are not a 'one player'. I do feel for RBA- he always gives everything.

Raahh · 09/01/2022 10:53

'One player team'

Raahh · 09/01/2022 12:44

Saw a lovely picture of Rafa biting his 'trophy' - which appears to be in the shape of a boomerang Grin. Been a while since we've seen a picture of him doing that, so that cheered up my Sunday Grin.

Raahh · 09/01/2022 12:46

Needs a caption really Grin

Fizzywinegum · 09/01/2022 12:54

Thanks for keeping us up to date on the tennis news Raahh Smile

I haven’t seen any of the ATP Cup but well done Canada!

Also well done to Rafa - I love the Boomerang trophy (but wish he wouldn’t bite his trophies - makes me wince!)

He looks happy and hopefully he’ll have a good run at the Australian Open - not long now

JaneJeffer · 09/01/2022 13:13

I forgot the caption I was going to put on Rafa's photo but I'm sure it'll come back to me. I'll get me coat

Pleased to read that Djok is being allowed his gluten free food in his new digs Hmm

Just been reading about a journalist flying into Belgrade airport where the aeroplane is named after him, you can buy Djok Knick-knacks (dread to think) and then see a gigantic billboard of him (shudder) above a restaurant named after him (weird!)

I’m always on the look out for Rafa Knick-knacks whenever I go to Mallorca but I’m always disappointed (maybe it’s because his ego isn’t as huge as Djoks!)

Raahh · 09/01/2022 14:57

Fizzy Grin Djok knick- knacks- I have visions of 'nodding dog' style things you stick in the back of your car.

I've said before- it won't be long, before there is a 20 metre high gold Nebuchanezzer-esque statue of Djok in Belgrade. That he has built himself. He is like a Serbian pharaoh. Grin.

He's really got them all brain washed, hasn't he?

Can you imagine going to Dunblane and buying Andy Murray fudge? Judy would piss herself laughing.
