Couldn't see that there was a thread for this so come hither and place mark in readiness for tomorrow's first episode!

My favourite so far is Shama. An antidote to the heeled eyebrow brigade.

We liked Sharma but there were several instances where we thought she was actively frozen out of discussion. Its not conducive to a group discussion to sit in a line but there is one point where Amy virtually turns her back on her.

PhilInt · 07/01/2022 08:56

@longwayoff

I like to think that the filming of the series is giving long suffering colleagues/employees a nice little break from their personalities/tyranny.

Exhausteddog · 07/01/2022 08:58

@PhilInt
🤣🤣🤣

SpiderinaWingMirror · 07/01/2022 09:07

I'd love to know the selection process that year on year generates ever taller, slimmer, manicured women.
Bring back the era of Ruth Badger.
Rest of it I love.
Especially the fact that they can't do market research until after they have committed to what they are doing.
And near the end of the process their flawed business designs are released.

MostlyNormalSometimesOdd · 07/01/2022 09:30

My prediction for the new series.

All contestants will be individually ghastly and collectively horrific

I like Shama because she didn't know want boujie meant and basically asked the question the whole country was thinking.
Exhausteddog · 07/01/2022 10:47

My teen DD rolled her eyes and said they were being really patronising thinking 25-45 year olds wouldn't know what boujie meant...
I didn't know what it meant! (I am in that age category - admittedly the higher end!Grin)

The Badger!

Classic

ChristmasPlanning · 07/01/2022 10:52

I really thought boujis meant something bad!

RenGreen · 07/01/2022 10:53

The bodycon dress still going on and Hari’s taupe (pink) suit and the pharmacists Versace PJs!

Maves · 07/01/2022 11:02

Well that was a shit show....actually don't think Harry should have gone yes he chats to much BUT he had better ideas etc hakeem should have gone plus Harry would have made better tv! Can't even remember the team leaders make off the woman's team but shit she does love herself a bit doesn't she! No likeable charecters as yet and every year there's a likeable one though the younger guy trying to explain the shit away might be it bless him

IDontHaveThePelvisForAFuton · 07/01/2022 11:29

Tim is a bit ... bland

This lady would be TV gold with this year's cohort.

Boujie Cruise will be a future contestant/ winner of Drag Race.
That’s the only place I have ever heard that word….I didn’t think it was a positive word.

Poshjock · 07/01/2022 11:51

@purplesequins

I think the men missed a trick with the logo. with a different colour and the name they would have had a chance.

but at least they delivered goid entertainment Grin

I like the name boujis - like a play on bijou

I actually agree with this. The logo idea was sound, and better than Harry's 3 -pillows- pillars idea. It was just so poorly executed. Why did they not give the human form a face? It just looked creepy. If they'd included a face with the wave form being more like hair and the colours aqua/teal fading to white or silver it would have been much better and miles ahead of the generic unimaginative shit the women did.
PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 07/01/2022 12:40

I think their logo could have looked quite good, but the colours completely killed it. Ok I get the well-being/nature link but how many trees do you see on a cruise ship? I agree with blues fading through it could actually have looked pretty good.

I didn't like Kathryn much, but she's more patient than me — I couldn't put up with people calling me "Kaff-ryn". While I'm on my high horse about pronunciation "Forget the stress and join the rest" (or whatever) was an awful tagline, and dropping the t so it rhymed didn't help.
Gold! That actor was going way to heavy on the facial appreciation, even without the arm movement! Look at how Michelle is pretty straight forward though compared to the ridic contestants now who are almost carictures of themselves.
butterpuffed · 07/01/2022 14:14

Most of them in the first episode were unintentionally hilarious last night. There's always a few [Ryan was my favourite !] but if it carries on like this throughout the whole series I can see it being the last.

Exhausteddog · 07/01/2022 14:22

The clips that pp have posted from previous (much earlier) series, I was struck how

 1. how "normally" the contestants dressed

 2. how they look like they work together quite well (and accept criticism without being arsey)

 3. how "normal" the house was (series 1 - although it may have started out as a lower budget show)

Exhausteddog · 07/01/2022 14:23

I saw Ryan Mark (from a couple of years ago) who was fairly insufferable is in another "celeb" reality TV show - I can't remember what, it looked one to avoid!

Chemenger · 07/01/2022 14:32

One of my ex-students was accepted as a candidate for series 2 but decided not to do it. I think they got a job in Sir Alan’s organisation rather than starting a business. They had to have actual business skills like calculating costings and understanding profit and loss back then. She would wipe the floor with any of the current set of idiots. I think I could choose a set of my undergrads at random and they would win any of the challenges hands down. If I hand picked them they would blow the current candidates out of the water without breaking a sweat. Part of the problem is that they mostly lack any understanding of working in a team.

LavenderAskew · 07/01/2022 14:36

Nooooooo, I forgot!!!!

I'm going to have to scour the world looking for the episode to catch up (I'm not in the UK, so no iPlayer)

This is a disaster!!

I haven't read the thread, but will once I find the episode (or if I can't I will read it and live it vivaciously through your comments).

Onlinedilema · 07/01/2022 14:41

Thank you to the poster who linked to The Wolf Spirit Jacket, the best Apprentice moment ever. I remember they sold loads though, the customers loved it. I wonder if anyone still owns one of those jackets?

TitsInAbsentia · 07/01/2022 14:47
This is still my favourite Apprentice moment ever. I laugh every time.

m.youtube.com/watch?v=xd2Y8VdkZ68
Moments like this just don't come often enough sadly, feeling very nostalgic for early Apprentice!

Also, I bet James Max has one of those jackets now...

Chemenger · 07/01/2022 15:00

My DD has one of those jackets. If you are a stick thin teenager with a very eclectic style of dressing you can carry it off (much to my surprise). Hers is about five sizes too big, she wears it with skinny jeans, very dark sunglasses, velvet DMs and a lot of attitude. It came from a charity shop.
